Engine Failure problems of the 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Two problems related to engine failure have been reported for the 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2001

The camshaft suffered a spun bearing which resulted in no lubrication being pumped to the rear head. This lack of lubrication resulted in a rear tower failure and the wearing of a hole in the rocker arm. Even at 95000 miles, this seems to be low for the new engines of today and I feel this is premature engine failure caused either by a poor design or a manufacturer's assembly related problem. Because it is out of the warranty period, the dcx customer support is totally non responsive and unhelpful. The NHTSA should look into why there is no recourse for the consumer to address these types of problems with the oems. In fact, the consumer is left without any recourse what so ever. A failure at this mileage which is costing me $4800 because of an initial misdiagnosis by a Dodge dealer in colorado springs is totally unacceptable.

2 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2000

First two tie rods broke and fell apart while accelerating to merge with interstate traffic. Engine failure.
