Failure Date: 03/11/2002

Harness clip on integrated child seat can easily be undone by the 3 year old child that occupies the seat. 6 Child Seat problem of the 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 04/01/2001

The child seat failure consisted of a cable connecting the latch plate to the belt tensioner mechanism. The failure is not faile "safe". A failure safe mode would maintain the seat belt and child restrained. The failure mode instead leaves the belt loose. This leaves parents with a false sense of security since they believe their child is safely restrained. This is also an expensive repair since Chrysler designed the integrated child seats contained in the bench to be unmaintainable requiring parents to purchase the complete bench in excess of $600. Nlm.

7 Child Seat problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 10/15/2000

This is the second time that this integrated child car seat has "locked up". It was replaced by the manufacturer the first time one month after we got the vehicle, and it is doing it again, which I find to be very dangerous for my son. We are forced to put a car seat into our car. I want this replaced by Chrysler again at no charge, but they are unwilling to do so.

8 Child Seat problem of the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 04/21/1999

The van we purchased has integrated child car seats. The buckle flap is made of hard plastic. As we were waiting at a stoplight, my 2 year old son showed me a piece of the buckle that had broken off. It was about the size of a dime. He easily could have choked on it. I informed the dealership and was told that it was under warranty and they would replace the car seats. (the other buckle is beginning to break. I then called Chrysler and told them about the choking hazard and they did not see it to be a problem. If this was a toy it would have been recalled. They are replacing the buckle with the same buckle part it had. The same problem will occur. I do not want any children, including my own to choke and die. Please help!.

9 Child Seat problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Failure Date: 02/01/1999

Recall not completed (3prior failures before recall) when I noted that the recall had not been completed to dealer they agreed & ordered parts to complete recall. I returned & got paperwork that stated the recall was complete. I let my toddler ride around for 3 weeks in the seat before I found the dealer had disengaged the locking mechanism for the integrated seat(seat belt would not engage in impact). When I confonted dealer they said they didn't know anything about it. When confronted with evidence they state they had ordered another set of parts to fix it but state they didn't know there was anything wrong with the integrated seat. They also said I was overreacting in that I was angry they let my child ride around with no working restraint. I immediately called Chrysler corp who opened file & said a dist mgr would call me. A week later(today) no call. I called Chrysler & they say the file is closed that the dm called the dealer who says they've handled it. Strange I havn't heard that. They want to "fix" it a 6th time. I don't trust their 6th time will be any better. Are others running around with incomplete recalls & are unaware? even the side that has a locking mechanism that works doesn't tighten on the children. I believe it is a faulty design. I would be glad to send you a video of the problem to help prove my allegations. Help. I bought the van for the integrated seats & now I hate it because of the integrated seats. I feel the kids are unsafe in them & pray for the babies whose parents have no idea. Thank you michelle mahood.

20 Child Seat problem of the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

We purchased our van used and I guess the original owners switched back seats with someone who had child restraints and Chrysler says that ours is not covered under any recalls since they were not originals on the van. Many times, these seats do not properly secure my kids in and I think they should be part of the recall, regardless. If they do not take care of the problem, when something does happen, I will have to contact my lawyer to contact them when there is a problem. I would appreciate any help in resolving this matter with Chrysler or whoever else that I need to contact that can help me.

Dealerships will not repair vehicle unless car is left with them. Recall says it is one-hour repair. No transportation is provided. Chrysler should bear all expenses of repair.
