At approximately 52,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a sudden catastrophic transmission / driveline failure while in use. The failure created serious concern about safe operation and reliability and left the vehicle disabled or unsafe to continue driving normally. An authorized Porsche dealer evaluated the vehicle and stated that the repair would require replacement of the entire transmission assembly at very high cost. No practical parts-level repair option has been provided. I am reporting this because a sudden major powertrain failure at this mileage may indicate a safety-related defect.

The dashboard has a fitted leather coating covering the airbag. . . The leather and its surrounding seals has melted. . Almost entirely. . And it is rippled and uneven all around. . . This is widespread for these models and may cause problems with the airbag in the dash. . . The airbag has to be able to deploy without any problems. . The dash should be fixed so it is safe.
The a/c in this 5 year old vehicle no longer works. There are no warning lights or anything to suggest the a/c is no longer functioning, other than turning it on to see if it works. The weather would need to be warm enough to test it. The dealer said it is due to the evaporator core, and to replace it would cost $8,000. 00. Upon search, many others have had this same malfunction. Audi uses the same part in their vehicles and in 2021, they revised their new car warranty to include the a/c evaporator for 10 years/100k miles. Porsche should also commit to this action as they are using the exact same faulty part and these vehicles cost even more than the Audi’s.
The leather dash is peeling irregularly and will not deploy the passenger airbag properly if vehicle is involved in an accident and could result in death of a passenger. Serious problem with Cayenne SUV’s and Porsche refuses to address the problem with multiple complaints from other owners.
Perelli scorpion verde tires started showing sidewall degradation and pitting in 2003 or earlier – the earliest photos we have are dated 2003. The tires had to be replaced due to the degradation and we requested the tire shop to look into a warranty claim. The tire shop changed hands and we went through four managers and weren’t able to get a clear answer, during that time the tires continued to get worse and pit. We found numerous reports on the internet of the same tire having a identical issue and believe it is a material defect and safety issue of this tire.
Complaint regarding a battery-monitoring/sensor issue, 2019 Porsche Cayenne and Porsche’s subsequent handling of the related repair. On may 22, 2023, at approximately 27,625 miles, my 2019 Porsche Cayenne was serviced by fox valley Porsche under repair order 103905. While driving a “battery charging warning. ” showed, I was very scared. Dealer diagnosed a battery sensor failure and replaced the 12-volt battery. The invoice shows a battery charge of $1,957. 87, plus labor. Repair documentation states “wmj9 — campaign not required. ” I am asking NHTSA to investigate, whether the battery-sensor condition that resulted in my battery being replaced was related to the condition addressed by Porsche campaign wmj9 and whether this condition can cause premature or unnecessary 12-volt battery replacement. Porsche subsequently identified the active fault associated with my vehicle as p1d6c00 and described it as a defect in the battery sensor located inside the battery. Porsche also stated that the vehicle’s battery-sensor software was already at software level 0164 and therefore the wmj9 campaign was not performed. Porsche’s wmj9 campaign addressed a battery-sensor/software condition involving incorrect battery-aging calculations and the potential for premature battery replacement. Because my vehicle had a battery-sensor fault and the dealer replaced the battery during the same general period that this campaign existed, I repeatedly asked Porsche and the dealer to establish why my battery itself required replacement rather than the condition being addressed through wmj9. I requested objective documentation: • battery’s state of health/capacity at may 2023 repair; • battery test results; • diagnostic evidence physical battery failed, rather than only the battery sensor; • piwis diagnostic/scan information or other supporting diagnostic records; • basis for determining wmj9 was unrelated neither dealer, nor north America Porsche could provide factual test results.
There is a strong smell of gas that happens intermittently while driving the automobile. This happens during slow motion in heavy traffic on both highway and local roads.

The Porsche dealer looked at it recommend that it be replaced. This is a known manufacturer defect that has been occurring with many of Porsche leather dashboards in different models. The manufacture is not taking responsibility in repairing or recalling this dangerous situation and putting the cost onto the customer. The fact that this is an option they offer as an additional cost on their vehicles , knowing this is a dangerous defect. This alone should automatically issue recall to fix before someone gets seriously injured.
