1 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 03/03/2026

Vehicle: 2020 Porsche Cayenne VIN: [xxx] mileage: 41,918 complaint: my 2020 Porsche Cayenne exhibits a significant and repeatable lurching and abnormal braking pattern each time the vehicle decelerates to a stop. The behavior is consistent and pronounced enough to cause me physical motion sickness on every drive. I brought the vehicle to Porsche bellevue (bellevue, wa) for diagnosis. The service manager personally rode in the vehicle with me, experienced the lurching behavior firsthand, and acknowledged feeling it. He then stated the vehicle could not be repaired because this is simply how the car behaves — no repair order was written and no fix was attempted. I am filing this complaint because: (1) the behavior involves abnormal braking and deceleration which I believe constitutes a safety concern, (2) the authorized dealership confirmed the issue exists but refused to document or repair it, and (3) I am concerned other owners of this vehicle may be experiencing the same issue without recourse. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether this is a known issue across the 2020 Porsche Cayenne platform and whether it meets the threshold for a safety investigation or recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

My 2025 Porsche Cayenne s was involved in a low-speed crash and experienced multiple safety failures related to the driver assistance control unit, including phantom braking and camera failure. This crash, I believe, is a direct result of the safety defect identified in recall asb2 (NHTSA 25v896), which causes the driver assistance control unit to fail to process image and sensor data correctly. My vehicle has exhibited a dangerous pattern of electronic and sensor instability that aligns perfectly with the technical failures described in the recall: the collision: while reversing in a parking garage on November 25, 2025, I struck a wall because the rearview camera and parking sensors failed to provide any notification or visual feed. I now understand this was caused by the "transient signal noise" cited in the recall, which prevents the system from detecting obstacles in specific lighting environments. Phantom braking: on two separate occasions, the vehicle abruptly "slammed" on the brakes for no apparent reason, nearly causing high-speed rear-end collisions. When reported to the collection Porsche service on January 23, 2026, the service manager admitted the system is hypersensitive to shadows. This confirms the control unit is failing to correctly interpret image data—the exact root cause of the current recall. Total electrical failure: on December 2, 2025, the vehicle suffered a defective alternator, causing a total shutdown in a live intersection. This resulted in a seven-week repair (completed Jan 23, 2026). Unstable voltage from a failing alternator is a primary source of the "signal noise" that causes the driver assistance systems to malfunction. I initially believed the bumper contact was a personal error. However, given the documented failure of the alternator and the subsequent recall regarding camera/sensor data processing, it is clear that the vehicle’s safety systems were compromised at the time of the incident. Porsche na has been notified.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 04/10/2025

I purchased a used Porsche pre-owned certified 2019 Porsche Cayenne turbo SUV on February 22, 2025, and within 4 to 6 weeks, the front brakes started to squeal very loudly when the vehicle comes to a near- stop. The dealership (Porsche river oaks, 4007 greenbriar dr, houston, TX 77098) tells me that this is normal squealing due to the type of brakes that this car has (pscb). The squeal is louder than typical brake squealing and shouldn't appear on such a newly purchased certified car. I am reading multiple complaints on the internet about the squealing problems with the Porsche surface coated brakes (pscb) that I have on my vehicle. I am also seeing that. Porsche cars north America, inc has issued a technical service bulletin 120/22enu 4652 published on sept 9, 2022, on how to fix this problem for its customers with a special brake disc and brake pad with better acoustical properties. The parts for this repair are extremely expensive. My car is supposed to be under warranty, but the service technician has offered to only clean the brake pads which the service advisor tells me should suppress the brake squeal for a short period of time, but then told me that the noise will come back due to the type of pcsb brakes this car has. I feel like I have been tricked into buy a car with defective squealing brakes and Porsche cars of north America knew about the problem with these pscb brakes. My worry is that Porsche dealerships, know how to temporarily fix this squealing problem when they sell these vehicles by cleaning the brake pads.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The car is very jerky, I bought in for engine or transmission mount because the idle shakes the whole car. They said its normal. Which I don't think it's normal.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 07/06/2023

For the past nine years, my vehicle has recorded multiple safety issues (trunk not closing/breaking, check engine light, catalytic converter misfire, keyless electronic entry issues, glow bulb light, turn signal bulb light, windows not rolling up, leaking fluid on the passenger side, burning smell coming from the vents, electrical issues with the radio, sunroof intermittently not opening/closing and the key not turning the vehicle on. Over the past nine years, I have taken the vehicle to numerous Porsche dealerships per the federal mandate from Porsche USA / Porsche uk. To date, the service manager, chris sansbury and general manager at brian harris Porsche, and Porsche USA, refuse to fix the vehicle. My vehicle is still under factory warranty. I am a person with multiple disabilities. The dealerships (jim ellis Porsche, hennessy Porsche, leith Porsche, brian harris Porsche) have charged me thousands of dollars. I have been extremely sick and desperately need your help. Please help me!.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 07/28/2022

The vehicle lurches forward dangerously when coming to a complete stop. The brakes seem to release as the vehicle lurches forward.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/07/2021

When decelerating and car is in gear 2 it lurches the car forward while braking, basically fighting the attempt to slow the car down. I attribute this to aggressive downshifting, but is a safety issue because the operator then needs to compensate by pressing down on the brake pedal harder to stop the car. This has happened inconsistently when driving, but occurs more frequently than not.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 10/25/2021

When braking to a stop, the car lunges forward even when foot is on the brake. This occurs at slower speeds around 5mph right before a dead stop.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 10/12/2021

When downshifting and just before coming to a complete stop and vehicle lurches/surges forward even though my foot is on the brake pedal. This happens in every drive mode with or without autostart/stop engaged. It is significantly challenging in stop and go traffic because it’s difficult to gage when the car will come to a complete stop. I have to make accommodation for the car lunging forward which is unpredictable because sometimes it’s a subtle surge forward and other times I have no control or idea how far forward the car is going to move. This makes this is especially dangerous when cars are quickly changing lanes in front of me in stop and go traffic during rush hour. Emergency braking does not help this! I have experience this. The collision warning went off in the car and emergency braking was engaged just at the knick of time! adverse weather conditions could have easily made that a very bad accident. I should be able to do normal every day driving and stopping, for example stopping to a red light, or stop and go traffic without having to activate emergency functions in my car and putting myself at unnecessary risk because of a “glitch” with Porsche. This normal every day driving. I returned my car to the dealership who told me it’s normal performance for this car along with. I along with many other owners have researched this and found out that software upgrades have been done to correct this problem which are not available yet in the united states. This issue needs to be resolved immediately to prevent potential accidents.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 09/15/2021

When the vehicle is decelerating and the transmission is in gear 2 the vehicle will lurch forward interfering/fighting with the normal operation of the brakes. This consistently happens when braking to a stop. The vehicle has 260 miles and I have driven it perhaps 4 - 5 times for a total of 30 miles. This is demo vehicle bought from a Porsche dealership and under full warranty.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 06/09/2021

My car stop suddenly, ignition key failure, then like transmission hesutation until the car stop completely where at that moment call a toll that cost me $650 dls. Since that day car having electric problems and even transmission get stuck sometimes, have to to do it manually.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 04/26/2021

My Porsche 2020 s has breaking issues when in sport mode. When the car downshifts from 3rd to 2nd gear, and 2nd to 1st gear, this is a sudden jolt forward or "lurging" that occurs every time. This is a safety risk in bumper to bumper traffic as the car can suddenly jump forward a few feet more than intended by normal breaking. Even when driving and breaking explicitly to compensate for this transmission / breaking defect, the lurging issue cannot be avoided. The only way to avoid this issue is to (a) break hard from 3rd to 1st gear (so from a fairly high speed down to 0, which lends additional breaking safety risks in non-ideal weather conditions such as breaking downhill or on wet / icy roads), or (b) to not drive the car in one of the two driving modes offered. The manufacturer's service department claims there is no issue, but some quick google searches show this issue is experienced widely and well documented, and a software fix has been rolled out overseas that isn't available in north America.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 02/27/2021

The car came with a factory installed tow system. I returned it to the dealer three times and it does not work properly. I was shocked plugging in a tester to the 7 way connector. The dealer service manager advised me that I was not shocked and states that the lights stating the 7 way connector is normal. This is not normal. When I connect a digital break controller or 7 pin cable with a trailer the car doesn't not communicate with the break controller. The break controller expert stated that since no diode was showing when I plug the car in that this indicates the brakes are not wired correctly. The dealership says since another car works the same as mine they don't think it is a issue. Corporate Porsche is unable to advise on technical service bulletins or information on a wiring harness to enable a wired break controller. I took the car over to uhaul and did remote calls with the brake controller manufacturer. All state that it is something with the manner it is wired with a open ground. This is unsafe as I have no way safely brake or utilize a brake controller. Since other 2020s behave the same way this is a systemwide issue and the manufacturer is not taking action so it should be evaluated by engineering.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 07/26/2019

I came to a complete stop on a city street. I let my foot off the brake, then applied my foot back on the brake and the brake pad wouldn't go down, it was hard.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 06/06/2019

Several times a month when my car comes to a stop the brakes malfunction and the brake pedal goes to the floor and the power steering stops working. It takes up to another car length to fully stop when this happens - sometimes just a few extra feet. It has caused me to damage the front end by driving into a bush. The dealer refuses to do anything because they can't replicate the brake problem and they state the steering problem is normal. I have been able to replicate the steering problems to them but because the brake issue happens only a few times a month I was not able to.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 12/21/2018

I heard some knocking from the area of the front left wheel while driving on a city street about 30 miles per hour. I stopped and inspected under the car and saw nothing. So I decoded to bring it to my service provider. I drove about 3 miles at slow speeds to get to the service provider. After about an hour they found the problem. One of the bolts that holds the knuckle to the wheel had backed out and was banging around the break system. They said I could not drive the car until it was fixed.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/22/2017

Acc/ pas unavailable warning: approximately eight months ago while driving on a city street in sarasota, FL the pas system was activated and abruptly stopped my vehicle without reason. On two separate occasions the "acc/pas is unavailable" warning has appeared on my instrument panel. On the first occasion, a vehicle to my left was attempting to merge into my lane of traffic while we were approaching an intersection on a city street. I attempted to honk my horn (which failed making an audible sound) and swerved to prevent this impending collision. The driver of the vehicle in front of me also witnessed what was occurring and slammed on their breaks. My pas system failed to alert and apply pressure and/or stop the breaks as this safety feature is designed. Despite my efforts to break quickly the vehicle in front of me and I collided. The first driver that merged into my lane fled the scene. There was no damage to the vehicle in front of me and the Porsche had moderate front end damage. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to our insurance company's auto repair express program at a collision center of their choice. It was then sent to our local Porsche service department for inspection and reinstallation and calibration of the pas cameras and operations. On the second occasion approximately 10 days after having the vehicle back from the body shop and inspections, I was sitting at red traffic light on a city street. The light changed green, cars behind me started honking. The car in front of me began to proceed through the light before breaking abruptly. Again the "acc/pas is unavailable" warning appeared on the instrument panel prior to this and my breaks did not respond to my applied pressure. I had not yet accelerated.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 07/31/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Porsche Cayenne. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v368000 (engine). The part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Porsche of silver spring in silver spring, maryland was made aware of the recall and stated that there was no remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. While driving 40 mph, the throttle control failed and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the power brakes and power steering failed. The vehicle was towed to Porsche of silver spring where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft controllers failed as described in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 90,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 06/09/2017

Very scary and dangerous experience engine stalled after filling up with gas. The vehicle required two or three attempts to start. I exited the gas station onto the ramp for the interstate. The car suddenly locked up less than a mile down the interstate while driving 70, mph. There was no power braking or power steering at all. Fortunately, I remained in the far right lane and momentum carried the vehicle off the next exit ramp before vehicle completely shut off. I have had a host of other issues including psm failures, start/stop mode deactivated errors, ignition problems, braking issues, unnecessary repairs, time/energy, missed work, rental cars, misdiagnoses, etc. I am certain the symptoms are consistent with camshaft defect affecting many other Cayenne s, turbo, and panamera s owners per several internet forum discussions. This is really dangerous. I am disappointment earlier notifications were not issued and I hope this matter is addressed before someone dies.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

I was exiting the highway into a rest area, and at about 30-35mph the car's engine suddenly cut out. All the dashboard warning lights lit up, the power steering failed, and even with the brake to the floor the car would barely slow down. I put the car in park and restarted it and it drove normally. I'm now afraid to drive my brand new car, because if the engine cuts out in the middle of an intersection or turning left against traffic, I could be involved in a very serious crash. This is more than just an inconvenience, it is a very serious safety flaw! if I was making a left turn against traffic and my two year old niece was in her car seat in back, she would be directly impacted by the vehicle due to the fact that the car decided to stop working!.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

S10 direct reply letter to the secretary from regarding having problems with his 2008 Porsche Cayenne. The consumer stated he experienced numerous safety problems with the electrical system and brakes. The consumer stated he filed two separate arbitration against the dealer and the manufacturer. The first arbitration case was settled in 2009, with the expectation all of the problems with the vehicle, current, past and present would be properly identified and resolved. Since the initial arbitration case, the consumer had to take the vehicle back to the dealer 11 times for the same electrical/software problem. The on-going problem uncontrollably affected the proper positioning of the outside mirrors and the overall safety aspect when operating the vehicle. The dealer replaced the onboard computer control module seven times, as their field technical expert suspected there was an unidentifiable electrical shortage or a computer related software virus somewhere within the electrical system. The consumer believed the dealer had no idea how to resolve the problem.
