While driving my 2019 Porsche Cayenne s on the freeway, the check-engine light came on, followed by a message on the dashboard that read “engine control fault – driving permitted – visit workshop. ” moments later, the vehicle suddenly lost power and decelerated from about ~75 mph to around 55 mph, even though my foot was still on the accelerator. I am [xxx] pregnant and had our [xxx] child in the car at the time. The unexpected loss of speed in fast-moving traffic was frightening. I had to quickly change lanes to reach the slower lane and avoid being hit by other vehicles. After reaching safety, I drove the car to an authorized Porsche dealership, where technicians found an active water-pump leak with coolant entering the vacuum system, which may have caused turbocharger and engine-power failure. This is after I replaced the water pump last year at another Porsche dealership. A photo taken during the incident shows the dashboard warning message as it appeared. This incident created a serious safety hazard, as the vehicle displayed “driving permitted” even though it was at risk of a sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds. The car and the failed components are available for inspection. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was driving my car and at a stop sign I started accelerating when the light turned green - I must have been going 45 mph after the light and all of a sudden my car went into hyper acceleration speeding up to 80 mph, I was pumping my brakes and the car was still raging to accelerate. I almost ran into a semi truck in front of me becuase I could not stop my car from accelerating, my foot was on the brake padel not the accelerator and it would slow down but as soon as I take the foot off of the brake - it would go into a rage accelration again, my car also gave wba restricted warnings while accelerating. I was finally about 2 miles of stoping and accelerating pull into a sholder with my brakes slammed, and parking brake pulled, the car finally came to a stop. I was also being followed by other cars and could have caused them to run into me as I tried to stop the car.

The rotary volume control knob on the center console of my 2024 Porsche Cayenne coupe detached during normal, routine interior cleaning while the vehicle was stationary. The knob lifted off the control shaft with minimal contact from a standard handheld vacuum nozzle. This indicates that the retention mechanism of the control knob is insufficient and may represent a manufacturing or design defect. A loose or detachable interior control is a safety concern because it distracts the driver from the road when attempting to adjust audio, alerts, or climate menu functions. The control knob is part of an interface that the driver must use while driving, and if it unexpectedly detaches or becomes loose, it can impair the ability to safely manage vehicle settings. The issue was reported to the Porsche dealership and Porsche cars north America. Both declined warranty coverage and classified the problem as “customer damage,” despite the failure occurring under normal usage conditions and without misuse. A properly secured interior control knob should not detach during light interior cleaning, and this may indicate a broader quality-control issue affecting similar vehicles. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. The problem is reproducible because the knob no longer attaches securely to the shaft. I am reporting this to NHTSA because an interior control that detaches under normal use may distract drivers, impair safe operation of infotainment and climate systems, and may indicate a defect in the design or construction of the control assembly.

I applied the gas pedal & the pedal seemed to stick . The vehicle kept accelerating after I took my foot off that pedal to apply brake . Car would slow when brake applied but immediately accelerated and kept increasing (speed was well over 90 mph & climbing ) when brake was released . This happened 3 times before the “stuck”pedal released. Another driver (retired mechanic) had driven the car and had similar experience a week prior and mentioned their experience. I didn’t realize how serious the incident could be. I called dealership but first available service appointment (scheduled) is Feb. 23,2022.

The adaptive cruise control has failed 4 times. As a significant driver in terms of miles driven, the lack of cruise control increases my fatigue and jeopardize the safety of all. Porsche dealer in st louis explained there it’s not known fx.
My Porsche 2020 s has breaking issues when in sport mode. When the car downshifts from 3rd to 2nd gear, and 2nd to 1st gear, this is a sudden jolt forward or "lurging" that occurs every time. This is a safety risk in bumper to bumper traffic as the car can suddenly jump forward a few feet more than intended by normal breaking. Even when driving and breaking explicitly to compensate for this transmission / breaking defect, the lurging issue cannot be avoided. The only way to avoid this issue is to (a) break hard from 3rd to 1st gear (so from a fairly high speed down to 0, which lends additional breaking safety risks in non-ideal weather conditions such as breaking downhill or on wet / icy roads), or (b) to not drive the car in one of the two driving modes offered. The manufacturer's service department claims there is no issue, but some quick google searches show this issue is experienced widely and well documented, and a software fix has been rolled out overseas that isn't available in north America.
I looked it up and this is what happened previously reported by another owner. I had the exact same experirnce. Nhtsa id number: 11306756.
Last year around January, adaptive cruse control stop working after dealer "fixed" almost closing a collision ( vehicle in motion), today park assist stop working 360 degree view completely off and no sound of proximity obstacles, ( vehicle in motion pulling of parking lot).
There's a electrical issue with the vehicle. Periodically, these error messages run in a continues loop( acc not available, high beam assist not available, driving light control error, pas restricted and camera system restricted). The local dealers have not been able to fix the issue. I opened a Porsche complaint file, which is number 5574318. This issue has been happening since the car was delivered, which was sixteen months ago. Porsche has made little effort in fixing the issue. It very concerning since when the error messages are rolling though it affects several safety features on the vehicle.
Purchased a 2013 Cayenne Porsche gts with 67k miles on it. Noticed a kind of thumping sound when accelerating, usually appearing at 3k rpms. Vehicle shudders and almost feels like the transmission is slipping. Took the vehicle to a mechanic to diagnose the fault and they immediately knew what it was, engine transfer case failure. This is due to a design flaw allowing water into the transfer case that Porsche is aware of and yet to address. On some occasions Porsche will pay for the $5k repair but the part is still replaced with a transfer case with the same flaw. Transfer case failure can lead to a sudden lose of power and potentially cause death or serious injury if someone is traveling at highway speeds. Highly recommend addressing this with a recall for 2013 and 2014 Cayennes. I have experienced sudden lose of power due to transfer case failure, neatly resulting in a highway collision.

Huge lag when pressing on acceleration petal when pulling out into traffic from a stop. It does not happen every time. It is intermittent. It seems to happen more frequently when you are turning right. It does not matter if you push the accelerator down , , or clear to the floor, when it happens you have no power for a couple of seconds. Never had this problem before the government mandate recall for emissions. The other issue after the emission recall is the vehicle acc/pas system will error out when cruise engaged and the vehicle needs to accelerate for an incline in the road. There has been couple of times also; rear-ended another vehicle because of acc/pas failure.

Google: Cayenne wet floor. All Cayenne have issue with poor water drainage system according to the websites. My car was driving fine before I parked it, then when I try to start it, I got an error on the info display in red: ignition lock fault, abs brake proportioning. No crank from the battery, transmission locked in park. So I googled it and found many owners from around the world reporting this issue. The drainage under the windshield can get blocked easily with debris, and cause water to overflow inside the cabin and or electrical modules located in the windshield cowl area. On the driver side as per video, I removed the rubber carpet and forced lifted the permanent carpet, and found pool of water underneath, on the metal floor was a bunch of wires connecting to the car battery under the driver seat were all under water. I started emptying but more water kept coming, foams, rubbers were all soaked. According to the forums after removing all water, I needed to locate 3 set of wires amongst the bunch, these 3 are joined by twisting and wrapped with electrical tape/gauge from the factory. These wires since exposed are susceptible to corrosion. 1 set of wire completely snapped, apparently 1 wire is for abs brake, and the other is for ignition key lock that renders the car immobilized. I followed the video describing the steps to fix this issue myself, and big bold letters on videos to do not bring the car to the dealer as they will charge thousands, if modules need replacing, rust an owner recorded a video online of his Cayenne dash stop working, all lights blinking while the car was in motion. Luckily mine malfunctioned while parked at home, not driving with my family. I have 2 Cayenne, a 2005 and 2008 that my wife drives. I need to follow forum instruction in cleaning the drainage and removing the grommet that can be blocked and cause water not to drain.

I have had the transfer case replaced in this vehicle twice in the last 25k miles. At 65k miles the car is doing the familiar grinding and surging again, evident it will need a third $5-6000 transfer case. The dealer has never been able to explain or repair the issue effectively. The manufacturer does not reply to inquiries, it is my request that they be forced to provide a permanent, reliable fix for this issue. I'm worried this could cause a safety issue under the right circumstance since it happens while the car is in motion. The mechanics at the various dealers have told me its a well known issue spanning Porsche suvs from 2008 through the present. Gotta wonder what this manufacturer is thinking here and why they are hiding the details.

The Porsche Cayenne is notorious for drive / cardan shaft failures. Had bad drive shaft noises, and subsequent premature failure, it was a worn center support dampener and a faulty center support bearing. I experienced banging, bumping, grinding noises from my Porsche Cayenne and was unaware at the time it was the drive shaft. I have outlined the the noises and causes below: - a clanking or clunking noise while accelerating or from deceleration to acceleration around 35to 40mph and while Cayenne was shifting from 2nd to 3rd to 4th gear. Around 5th and 6th gear going around 50-60 mph it stopped. If I kept the rpm under 200 it seemed to run ok, no issue, but if I pressed the accelerator hard or gunned it, it went haywire. It was the result of a worn and damaged dampener or diaphragm located on the center support bearing. This condition will allow for the drive shaft to travel up and down with variations in drive line torque. This movement will produce a loud clanking or clunking sound and make for a very uncomfortable ride. I later found out that this condition is one of the most common failures on the Cayenne drive shaft, all models 2003 to 2006. This should be a recall and free fix by Porsche because it has happened to so many of the vehicles and model years stated above! but no, Porsche quoted me $2,500 to fix it. Not fix the problem area, the hard rubber dampener on the center support shaft of the power train, which by the way is possible. No, Porsche would only replace the entire power train for $2,500.

The contact owns a 2004 Porsche Cayenne. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact heard a ticking noise followed by a loud, thumping noise which caused the vehicle to accelerate. The local authorized dealer stated that the bearing and drive train needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer. The VIN was unavailable. The current mileage was approximately 93,000. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I am an owner of the 2005 Porsche Cayenne s. The Porsche Cayenne seemed to have a hesitation issue that we have tried to have repaired several times in the past. I wish I had taken car in as soon as I first noticed, as I would have easily been able to pursue the NY state lemon law, having had the car serviced for this issue more than 3 times with no resolution. But the situation has only gotten worse with time and the dealers refuse to recognize, acknowledge and fix the issue. I have had multiple people drive the car and have experienced the hesitation issue when stepping on the throttle, as the cars will hesitate and only move after pumping the gas peddle a few times. I have had more than one dangerous situation arise as I am trying to make turns. I finally searched the web site car forums to see if others have had this issue and have found hundreds of similar cases and was surprised to find no recalls. Please assist with this issue before someone seriously gets hurt.
: the contact stated, intermittently, the vehicle hesitates when the accelerator pedal is depressed. When the vehicle does respond, it shoots out into traffic. The dealership readjusted the computer multiple times but this has not remedied the problem. The manufacturer determined it was normal operating conditions. Updated 2/24/2006 - the consumer would like to rescind this complaint because the dealer has fixed the problem.

The vehicle stalled while accelerating from a stop then lunges forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that this is the way the vehicle was designed.
I own a 2004 Porsche Cayenne s and from the very first day of ownership the car has a serious hesitation problem when accelerating. I have had the car serviced at the Porsche dealership (mckenna in norwalk, CA) and they tell me that they are very aware of the problem and there is no way to fix it. Many, many Cayenne owners are having the same problem and Porsche refuses to fix the problem. I have had several near-miss collisions because of the cars hesitation when accelerating. Please help and let me know the status of this dangerous issue. Thanks, derek dean.
While turning across traffic from e 2nd Ave onto josephine st. The accelerator pedal was depressed to the just above the floor and no discernable acceleration response was noticeable for a second or two. When there was an acceleration response it was an explosive, 'off to the races' one. This incident took place after the dealer advised that: unofficial fixes (dme update and transmission adaptation) issue had been in place since the delivery of the vehicle; vehicle had been into the dealer to evaluate/address this issue three times; on the third visit the transmission control module was replaced/updated/adapted and dme control unit was remapped.
While merging from highway 141 onto I-70 the accelerator pedal was depressed to accelerate from highway speed to merge into interstate traffic and no noticeable acceleration was apparent. The extremely concerning about this incident was that this merge was being executed between two 18-wheelers. While there was ample space to merge if the vehicle had responded without hesitation to accelerator pedal inputs, the experienced hesitation made the merge dicey.
While pulling out from a parking lot into major city street the vehicle hesitated to respond to accelerator input with approaching traffic. The vehicle moved off from a stop and into the closest lane fine but would not accelerate as more accelerator pedal was applied. There was noticeable delay/hesitation, as traffic bore down on me, before the Cayenne decided to accelerate. Contacted dealer who noted that there was an unofficial fix that may address the issue.
Customer campaign notice received regarding main wiring harness routing. As well as problems with engine not responding to accelerator pedal. The vehicle's engine unexpectedly does not respond to input on the accelerator peal. This problem has occurred so many times that the consumer decided to put the vehicle in storage and no longer drive the vehicle. The consumer has complained to the dealer several times to no avail. The dealer insist that this is a characteristic of the vehicle.
