The contact owned a 2011 Porsche Panamera. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the steering wheel stiffened, the vehicle experienced a loss of motive power, gray smoke entered the cabin, and all warning lights illuminated. The contact immediately parked and exited the vehicle. A fire originated from under the passenger side of the engine compartment. The fire was extinguished using a fire extinguisher. A police report and a fire department report were filed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed by the police department and was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 155,000.
