The contact owns a 2010 SAAB SAAB 9-3. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 11v015000 (fuel system, other) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated the fuel gauge would fail to accurately measure the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. When the fuel tank was filled to the halfway point the fuel gage would suddenly drop to 0. The failures occur intermittently. The check engine warning light had illuminated, as well as, a message indicating that the fuel pump had a failure was illuminated on the dashboard. The dealer was contacted where the vehicle had not been diagnosed and it was confirmed that the remedy was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 104,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
