The contact owns a 2006 SAAB 97x. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph both side curtain air bags deployed without a crash occurring. The front driver and passenger pretension on the side of the vehicle broke as well. The contact drove onto the emergency lane and saw no damage relative to a crash. The contact was able to continue driving and notified the manufacturer who had the vehicle inspected by an investigator. The investigator found two very small scratches on the rear differential which was the reason that the manufacturer refused to repair the vehicle. The diagnostic testing did not determine what caused the air bags to deploy. The side curtain air bags deploying could have injured small children. The failure mileage was 55,000.
