My driver side door panel kept getting stuck , the driver window nor any panels on my driver side door works.
Manufacturer: general motors llc mfr's report date: Aug 15, 2012 NHTSA campaign id number: 12v406000 NHTSA action number: ea12004 component: visibility, power window devices and controls was advised in 2015 that the drivers door module was under recall as a fire hazard. It was replaced. The replacement module started on fire. The local dealer blamed rain water getting in it. I ordered a brand new ddm that has never seen the elements or been installed in a car and it has the same corrosion that caused my fire! see pic. To add insult to injury the local GMC and chevy dealers both say OH that's a SAAB, we can't program that. the nearest dealer willing to do this work is zimbrick in madison wisconsin. It's 150 miles away. They're stating they can't do the work a second time under the call. There was nothing wrong with my window switch before they did the recall work, and supposedly the superior fixed part in fact caught on fire. If this was a trailblazer or an envoy they'd do the work but because it's a SAAB they're being stupid and saying they can't work on SAABs. It's the same thing. Bottom line: the recall work does not mitigate the fire hazard and brand new replacement modules have the same corrosion that gm blames on water getting into the ddm. I challenge that narrative and believe all these vehicles may still be a fire hazard.

My family and I were out on a Saturday evening on 6/11/16. We stopped to grab a slice of pizza from one of our famous downtown pizza places. As we sat in the car eating our pizza, we noticed smoke coming from the right side vents and dash board. We immediately jumped out of the car. Well, after smoke, we saw fire. The car was destroyed. The hood, dashboard, front and back seats melted like a piece of paper. My wife and young son were in the car. The car was parked on a city street when smoke/fire started.
The contact owns a 2008 SAAB 9-7x. The contact stated that the headlamps independently failed. In addition, when the fog lights were activated any other electrical system was in use, the vehicle would shut down. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it could not be diagnosed; however, the mechanic stated that the bulb needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred more than ten times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

My wife and I were on the drive thru line at wendys, it was raining out and I cracked the front passenger window for a litle air. A minute later we smelled something burning we werent sure where the smell was coming from until my passenger side window/lock/and heated seat switch started to emit smoke. Of course we were in a state of panic, we quickly exited the line and pulled over I didnt know what to do other than pull up the switch housing from the door panel. After doing so the smoke was evident and the wires and actual plastic housing caught fire. I was able to put the fire out. After inspecting the entire switch housing it was clear that the wires overheated and short circuited I would imagine due to the little bit of rain water that leaked into it. The manager of the wendys came out to check on us as he saw and heard our panic. I called gm/SAAB this morning and the rep made me out to be a liar, she couldnt believe that a fire actually occured. I told her I have the switch housing and it is clear as day that the plastic didnt melt and the acual metal tip of the wire melt due to smoke or just a heat. I see that there is a recall on 2008 SAAB 97x driver module but not my year or the passenger switch. The rep had me so upset I forgot to get her name and file a complaint so when im done on this post I am going to call back and have them look up my file and lodge a complaint. Also there is a recall for 2008 97x headlight module and of course my headlights just stopped working out of the blue, I replaced the bulbs from autozone to no avail that is how I found out about the second recall. Im upset because I have 3 kids in college and 1 in 10 grade and am not in a financial position to replace any of the defective factory parts especially after a fire in my vehicle. Now I am forced to not have functioning passenger window or lock or heated/memory seat.
Driver side window at first is slow to go down and even more slowly to go up. But now the driver side power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. Currently I don't even use the power window because I'm worried that it may not even close or work at all. I found a recall but SAAB customer service say it's only for 05-08 SAAB 9-7. I believe base on the reports that I'm having the same issue as recall number: 14v404000.
Power door locks function intermittently. Sometimes they all lock/unlock, sometimes no doors lock/unlock, sometimes certain doors lock/unlock. Sometimes the windows operate very slowly as well. I have only used the locks when the vehicle is stationary, but I have noticed the window problem when both moving and stationary. This has been an issue for over a year, I can't pinpoint the exact time it first happened, but it is an ongoing issue.
"takata recall" purchased from eastchester Chrysler Jeep dodgr dealership in bronx, NY 10486 , on Feb. 28, 2015, engine light illuminated on dashboard indicating a possible problem. I took it back approximately 7x to the dealer for repair and approximately 8 additional times at other mechanics. Unfortunately, light continues today. Both headlights were problem; drivers side beginning first dimming very low. Several weeks later, the passenger side headlight began to have problems as well. Eventually it became a necessity to become an expensive out-of- pocket expense. Finally, the stability check light continuously comes on and off making it necessary to stop and turn off and restart vehicle as suggested by dealer mechanic advice. Allinformation described is verified with documents.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 SAAB 97-x. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 12v406000 (electrical system , visibility) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair for longer than a year. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was experiencing a progressing failure in which the drivers side electrical control panel failed to work. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect. Dyd.
The contact owned a 2007 SAAB 9-7x. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a popping noise and the vehicle caught fire. A police report was not filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer and deemed totaled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.
While driving at night the headlights were set on automatic mode when all of a sudden they went out and I tried to turn them to the regular on position and they did not come on, the high beams did not work either. This has happened on several occasions and from what I read on line I'm not the only one that has this issue. I believe the recall should include my 2005 model as well. Other electrical issues! (instrument panel-gages) most tacked out, also speedometer gage issues (gets stuck at one speed and when yu slow down it doesn't go back down but if you get back up to speed it will continue to climb showing a false speed of 95-mph but actually only going about 55-mph.
Upon entering my vehicle and starting it, I attempted to roll down the drivers side window and the window began to smoke and would not roll up or down. No trouble with it before hand.
Was driving down side street, reached for something in passenger seat, drew my hand back making very gentle contact with ignition key in center console and car shut off. I hardly touched the key. This second time in early June, though I hit it with my cup (ice tea from mcdonalds). Then this weekend it happened again. It is very easy to bump it with your arm and have it shut off. I called GMC and they informed me that they wouldn't fix it, even though to me it seems like the same issue as with their other cars that are being recalled for the same reason. I think it should be recalled, and suspect that the ignition is the same that is in the GMC envoy, trailblazer, etc. Also, the 2007 was recalled, and I think the 2008 should be as well. My car is available for someone to inspect it anytime if you would like to see how easy it is for it to happen.
The driver side front window will not go down, all other works. That part was a recall last year and was replace, with no charge to me. Also the engine shuts off after the vehicle has started.
Headlights flickered and I thought they were going to go completely off but they did not. Checked the internet and with dealer for this incident and was told this was a normal occurrence with this vehicle. Since then, the vehicle now has 145,746 miles and there are more instances of these happenings. Also have a problem with the electrical system due to interference coming through the stereo system and creates a humming/buzzing sound coming from the back speakers. Had a certified SAAB technician troubleshoot this problem and found a problem with the ground system (electrical) in the rear speakers/equalizer. I am presuming that this may have something to do with the whole electrical system (to include the headlights, equalizers, speakers) of this vehicle. Just had a recall taken care of to replace the front drivers door power window module.
The contact owns a 2006 SAAB 9-7x. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired for NHTSA campaign number: 12v406000 (electrical system, visibility) however, the power switch door module was not responding properly and caused the windows to open independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 143,000.
Driver side window/door panel started smoking. Burned a whole through the unit. Window and door controls do not work. The sideview mirror control rolled down the window and now the entire unit does not work. Electrical smell throughout the car.

This model has faulty/substandard design. I have had to replace rusted out trunk latch twice, drivers side window fails to close after several repairs, windshield has cracked 3 times, ( never have I previously had a crack in a windshield) , headlights continue to short out and have been replaced several times, among many other issues. Have no faith that this car has safe airbags. ?.
Vehicle power windows, seats, seat heat stopped working. Windows have gone up/down uncontrolled when keys are not even in the vehicle which is very dangerous. Gm says that this condition is a fire hazard and do not park in a garage, but are dragging their collective feet in fixing this problem!!!! this vehicle is unsafe to put my family into, I just want it fixed now!!!!!.
Ref recall 12180. Same issues exist in 2005 SAAB 97x models. We bought this vehicle used and the driver's door master switches were working sporadically. Around the beginning of July 2012, the switches stopped working completely. My wife is disabled, and I've been out of work since 2008. We could not afford to get this repaired out of pocket. When the preliminary notification for the recall came around and we were happy about the news. I'm afraid now, after doing some research that our model year isn't covered. The recall notice shows our vehicle as a 2007, which is in error.
When attempting to reposition the side mirror on the driver's side, using the electric system, there was smoke coming from inside the door. Since that time the driver's side electric system has failed to work. The local SAAB dealer claims that the parts are and were at that time unavailable. This problem may be related to the current electrical issue affecting the 2006 and 2007 models.
Fuel gauge does not display the correct fuel level. Fuel gauge will indicate full when tank is empty, or empty when tank is full. Has caused a check engine light on numerous occasions.
Erratic fuel gauge. At times gauge will read empty when tank is near full or will read full when fuel tank is half full.
My fuel gauge reading has been going back and forth from empty to full. I have put a full tank of gas in it and it reads empty. This began a few weeks ago and has not stopped. It has caused my engine light to come on as well. I went to have it tested at a shop and they said it was the fuel sender. I have researched and found a number of complaints about this. I ask how will I be compensated for this inconvenience?.
I purchased this vehicle in clark county indiana in 2011 the month of may. The original bill of sale was in the car from 2006 where it was sold from a SAAB dealership in fisherville indiana. My driver side door as of September 2012 started making a burning smell and all of a sudden nothing on my driver side door works window switch mirror control and the heater button on the door will no longer work. I keep getting a smoke smell off and on since last month!!.
For the past two year I have been getting intermediate false fuel readings. The gauge would read empty or close to it. One time it stated I had more gas then I really did, causing me to run out of gas on the freeway. As time went on, the issue became more frequent. It is becoming a dangerous issue.
