Turbo malfunction at a cost of $455. 00 and also engine filter box. Vehicle still not running correctly. Will only go at speed of 25 mph. Repaired on 03/27/2018. Started out smoking all over the place from exhaust. Was told turbo went bad. I think a lot of these cars have this problem as I read on forums(SAAB,). That I have since joined. The SAAB has 139,000 miles. . I was driving on a city street at speed around 35mph. Started to smoke heavy, but once out of city as long as I drove 50 mph on highway smoke was dispersed from wind and made it home but when stopping for red light would buck and try to shut off. Smoke not good for environment. . . . . .

Complaint about automobile paint. I purchased car recently and the hood and top on car is flaky and faded. The color description is gray. I am wondering if this is a problem with cars that were made in the year 2000. The hood and top would have to be painted. It doesn't look like tree sap or any foreign substance affected the paint. It looks like the paint just broke down.

Direct ignition cassette failure. . . This causes the car to sputter like the engine is going to die and burns the electrical inside of the direct ignition cassette. We had the car hooked up to the machine and tested and got a misfire code (p0325) and once the check engine was cleared it worked again for a few minutes. The car will then stop operating, the engine stays running but when you try to accelerate the car does not move, goes into limp mode. This happened to me on the freeway this morning and thankfully I could coast to the side of the road. Saabservices. Com shows that a recall was issued on this make and model but the serial numbers on mine fall out of the range of the serial numbers the recall covers.
Ignition cassette failure.

The factory floor mat slipped forward and was wedged to the accelerator pedal so that the pedal stuck at almost full throttle. Avoided a collision by shifting into neutral, stopping, and realizing the mat was jammed into the accelerator pedal. I extricated the mat from the pedal and restored the function to normal. The car has restraining pins designed to hold the mat in place but the design is flawed, especially if the mat curls in that area.

The engine on my 4 cylinder SAAB 9-5 (2002) has suddenly stopped while driving at least 4 times since owning the car, both on the highway and in slower traffic. The first time I reported officially (2007) to the dealer, "no cause was identified. " I noticed the last time that it happened (around may 2011) that it seemed to coincide with inadvertently bumping into the ignition switch lightly while driving. The symptoms match that of another owner's complaint on this site for the 2002 SAAB 9-5. I expected my car to be included in the recent recall involving the faulty ignition switch but got no notification. I have also paid in June 2008 and again in October 2009 and January 2013 to replace/reset a faulty ignition cassette, which I believe should have been part of a recall campaign and not charged to me, but the parts were not included in the recall. In summary, due to the car shutting off, I feel it is not safe and that it should be included in the recent GMC recall. And that the faulty ignition cassette should have been recalled and not replaced at owner expense multiple times. I have documented service records of the above incidents.
