Unknown Or Other problem #1

Car just cutting off while driving almost rear ended two times, as happens without notice, took to shop, was diagnosed as ignition cassette. Witch was recalled, but still defective.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

SAAB/gm onstar is not supporting vehicles with analog systems starting February 2008. This depreciates the vehicle and removes a safety component that was a major prt of the decision to purchase the vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

SAAB information display pixel failure. The pixels on the information display have been failing, and now are to the point where almost unusable display. SAAB service said it is a common issue, but since the warranty has passed, would have to buy a new display unit(approx. $500) searching on the internet, I have found many people have the same issue. There are even sites set-up to send unit in for repair. (ex. . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The vehicles gvwr is overstated. This is based upon my own and other observations of permanent damage to the vehicle and tires when using the vehicle near the stated gvwr. I personally had a tire blow out on me and have had permanent damage to the tires and/or the vehicle and/or the vehicles suspension components. The manufacturer has to date not be able to fix my vehicle under warranty, despite replacing the entire rear suspension. The vehicle squats dangerously when loaded resulting in unsafe handling.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Car failed at 70 miles/hour on expressway. Just stopped. Cause was diagnosed as direct ignition cassette-web search shows this to be a common SAAB problem. Was quite terrifying and dangerous to lose power on expressway-definite safety hazard.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

At highway speed the drivers side front blinker assembly broke free from the car body. The electrical wiring remained connected between the blinker assembly and vehicle. This caused a whipping action of blinker assembly.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

A broken plastic armature that controls the vents for my driver side air conditioning and heating air flow has broken. Apparently this is a very common issue with SAAB 9-5 owners and the dealerships and repair places are well aware of it as well. The problem is that there is no replacement available from SAAB for the 10 cent piece of plastic that breaks so commonly. The dealerships (and the repair places that get their parts from them) are only able to replace the entire heater box assembly, at a cost of over $2500 usd for parts and about 20 hours of labor!!! in checking the frequency of this issue with other SAAB owners on Saabnet. Com, I find it is altogether too common. Yet, when I contacted SAAB USA, they told me since my vehicle is out of warranty (1999, 86k miles) and since I am not the original owner of the vehicle, that they would do nothing for me. This is ludicrous. At the very least an investigation and TSB should be issued. . . Possibly a recall.
