The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated while driving at 45 mph in the rain, the warning messages "traction control off" and "stability control off" appeared on the instrument panel and the vehicle inadvertently switched to third gear on its own. The contact also stated when he depressed the gas pedal, the vehicle switched gears to neutral and the windows popped open. The contact stated that the vehicle was hydroplaning. The vehicle was taken to a pepboys who diagnosed that the vehicle had lost connection with the body control module. The contact stated as he became aware of the recall for NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control, electronic stability control), the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair. The contact stated the dealer completed the recall repair, however the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that they could no longer assist as they had already repaired the vehicle per the manufacturer's instructions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for diagnosis. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 194,800.
Will not easily shift into 2nd or 3rd while driving it shifts very hard and at high rpm.
I was on my way to wal-mart. As I was driving my car all of a sudden wasn't going as I pressed on gas so I notice something strange was going on tried to shift it wouldn't downshift. Then I pulled into middle lane that is were it slowly stopped. Then I shut it off started my car again to go to a safer place it started, continue driving about less then a mile turned into wal-mart and as I was turning in car gas pedals and shift was not working. So it rolled and I was able to get into parkingnlot wal-mart. When I tried to reverse and make the car straight it would not move in drive only reverse. I parked my vehicle and called my husband cause I was panic that I almost got hit behind me till I pulled into center lane I didn't want to drive it.
The vehicle has been in and out of repair for the same problem, engines have been replaced but no solution has been found. When driving around 60mph the engine would stall and engine power reduced and traction off would flash, reducing the car speed and making acceleration near impossible- sometimes multiple times in one trip. Car accelerates very slowly and causes traffic buildup. Rpm is at 5 (x1000)/min at just 30mph and the engine is making loud noises. Sometimes when stalled or at a red light the engine will cut out completely and the car will die. Almost consistently the car will rattle and shake in a pulsing matter. As previously mentioned I have brought it in to local repair shops and no one has been able to find a solution. Often times the engine is replaced but the problem comes back after a couple weeks.
Brake lights illuminate when brake pedal not being pushed. Brake lights turn off when pedal is pushed. Electronic stability control fails when brake applied. Difficulty shifting out of park unless brake pedal applied.
The messaging display was indicating "traction control" and "engine power reduced" when I was driving and the car started slowing down. I pulled over and waited for a few minutes and started it up again. It drove for a while and then the display came back on. I had it checked but nothing was found. This happened a few times and it seems the problem was getting worse as the car started shaking and making loud noises. I took it back and was told this is a growing problem with this vehicle. I called the dealer and was told that there was a recall on similar vehicle with the same problem but was told my car was not covered, and they did not say why. The local repair shop tells me it is expensive to repair and cannot give more than a 30 days warranty on the repair. This is very frustrated especially since I have done everything as a responsible owner to upkeep this vehicle as recommended. The manufacturer needs to be responsible and do the right thing with integrity.

The contact stated when shifted into reverse the vehicle hesitated for twenty seconds before functioning normally. The contact stated it took a similar amount of time for the vehicle to accelerate after coming from a complete stop. The contact stated while shifted into park, the vehicle was still be able to move. The air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic to get the failure diagnosed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v224000 (power train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I was driving my Saturn Aura on highway when the car abruptly dropped gears and the speed at which I was traveling was significantly reduced. I quickly pulled over to check out the problem. There didn't seem to be any major malfunctions at quick glance. Hoping that it was just a minor mishap, I attempted to drive it again. It was good for about 30 seconds when the car suddenly jumped up to 4,000 rpm and would not allow me to drive above 40 mph. Luckily I was able to get the car off the nearby exit and into a parking lot. Once the car was parked, it would not reverse. This could have turned into a major incident had there been more traffic on the highway. There were no warning signs as the car had been driving fine up until then. I also keep up with routine maintenance.
Rear brake lights came on without pressing the brake pedal & stayed on. When the brake pedal is applied all the rear brake lights go out as long as pressure is applied. When brake pedal pressure is released the brake lights come back on. When this problem is happening the speed control, stability control and traction control also stop working. Dealer replaced module 2. 560 part # 25861370. This same problem happen again at 48,300 miles on 9/7/12 and I had dealer repair again but this time the repair was not covered by warranty.
Under heavy acceleration vehicle becomes unstable when passing (over crown of road) or upon encountering parallel or diagonal joint in road surface.
My 2007 Saturn Aura had been into the dealership approx. 1. 5 weeks ago because the vehicle was having difficulty accelerating. The engine would rev but the car wouldn't move. The dealership said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. On the night of September 20, 2007, at approximately 8:30 pm, while driving the car in a residential neighborhood, I tried to apply the brakes at a stop sign. The abs light came on, the pedal went to the floor, and the car revved, surged forward through an intersection and struck another vehicle. My car hit car #2 with such force that it caused car #2's wheel axle to snap in half and severe damage to car #2's front passenger side fender and door that the car needed to be towed away. I was taken away in an ambulance. Onstar confirmed two codes at the time of the accident: #1--abs/traction control system malfunction and #2--take the car to a service center as it may exhibit abnormal behavior when driving and/or stopping. This Saturn Aura has been nothing but problems since getting it in October 2006. It has just over 14,000 miles on it and has been serviced for the aforementioned issue plus replacing a broken engine mount, replacing a leaking engine gasket, resurfacing the brake rotors at 7,000 miles, multiple repairs to a non-functioning onstar system, and consistent issues with the warning light on the tire inflation monitor (I eventually had the tires filled with nitrogen). This car is a hazard. Because of the service history of the vehicle, I have obtained legal counsel. The Saturn will be evaluated by an independent mechanic to determine what needs to be repaired. I am scared to drive this car again.
Since buying my Saturn Aura in March 2007 my life has been a complete headache. I first had to take my car into the shop with only 2300 miles on it for rack and pinion to be replaced. Since then it has been in the shop no less than every 6 months. I have had to replace the brakes and rotors two times, motor mount, passenger air bag, sunroof drain, water pump, coolant crossover pipe, water reservoir, steering shaft and more. Now my rack and pinion is bad again and they will not fix it. Also there is a major rattle in front of car and squeal coming from front drivers side tire. They tell me that there is nothing wrong and cannot duplicate. Just recently I have started to notice that my car steering is funny and also that it cuts out or accelerates on it's own. I am planning on getting it back in again to the shop soon. I do not feel safe driving this car. I have three small children and want something done to stop all the problems.
