While driving down the highway after setting the cruise control it will just cut off by itself. Then will not reset when you try to set it again until the vehicle has been shut off and restarted. Sometimes the cruise control will not set at all. The last time it happen was on October 18, 2014, but it has happen several times I just do not remember the dates or the mileage. The mileage is estimated.
As I was driving to work after being in the car for no more than 15 minutes, my rear brake lamp went on while I was driving and would only shut off if I tapped on the brake pedal. Also my cruise control would not engage. This has continued to happen ever since. I feel this is a very serious safety hazard especially in traffic and the drivers behind me do not know when I am actually coming to a stop! ironically, we received a recall notice last week regarding this problem. I have contacted both a local dealer and gm directly and neither party can tell me when the repairs will be made as there are no parts available. I am feeling extremely frustrated and helpless. There is also a recall out there # 14118 for loss of power steering dated last month and still have heard nothing further on this issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. While driving at approximately 55 mph, the brake lights illuminated independently. In addition, the cruise control ceased. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
Brake lights malfunction on the 2007 Saturn Aura. Depress the accelerator and the brake lights engage - then press the brake and the brake lights turn off . . . Reverse of how they should work. When the brake lights are on they may or may not stay on - it is unpredictable. A recall is listed online (gm recall number 13036; NHTSA campaign number 14v252000). Calling gm (1. 800. 462. 8782) and Saturn (1. 800. 553. 6000) resulted in no help - they acknowledge the recall but have not associated vins or released it to dealers. This is a safety issue. The recall needs to be released immediately and when vehicles are identified to have this issue they should be cleared to be fixed immediately under the warranty.
My car has electrical problems related tothe connector for the computer inside the dash just as noted under NHTSA recall# 14v252000. I am certain this is the problem because following advice I found online before the recall was issued I used an electronics cleaner on the connector and it helped but did not fix the problem. My brake lights either don't work or stick on. My left turn signal doesn't work. If I disconnect and reconnect the plug several times in seems to make it work but only for a short while so I know for sure this is the problem. I've checked my VIN and for some reason gm has not included my car in the recall. This is b. S. Prior to the recall I paid gm dealerships several times to fix the issue and they failed each time. Now they have a recall for the exact problem my car has but they are trying to not include my car even though the recall is for 2007 Saturn Aura's with the exact problem my car has. I cant use my car because I cant get an inspection sticker due to the brake lights and turn signal not working. Its a freaking lawn ornament.
While at highway speeds (55-75) power train surges, and cruise control will not engage. Also esc service indicator warning light turns on. Contacted dealer and gave them this information. Had my car serviced on 7/14/2014 with new spark plugs, fuel line cleaning and new brakes (front and back) and the esc indicator illuminating intermittently. Still have issues. They say that my VIN indicates that I do not have a recall for my vehicle. But, my car is showing all the tell-tale signs for what is described in gm recall #13036 from 5/14/2014.
Brake lights do not come on all the time when brakes are applied. Brake lights come on when brakes are not applied. Cruise control shuts off when brake lights come on randomly. Called gm and they claim to know nothing about it. Have taken to local gm dealership 3 times. 1st time they replaced brake pedal position switch(did not correct problem)2nd time replaced 2 bulbs that were "dim"(did not correct problem)3rd time applied dielectric lubricant to bas connector, still not fixed. Why is there a recall for this on motortrend website dated 5/14/2014 but gm and their dealers play dumb?how can people get this fixed?.
The brake light would illuminate without brake pedal being pressed. This happened on more than one occasion. Problems with the cruise control engagement. Problems with the traction control sensor coming on without cause.
This is an issue I experience a couple years ago and discussed this with the dealer. It has since returned and is getting worse. Rear brake lights are on while the car is driving and in neutral although the brake pedal is not depressed. Cruise control will not function once the break light turns on. When the pedal is pressed lightly and the breaks engage slowly, the break lights will turn off. Upon moderate to heavy breaking the lights will then turn back on. This is a significant safety issue. Upon releasing the breaks I will have approx. 7 seconds where I can use the cruise control and the break lights are off before the lights turn on again and disengages the cruise control. During that 7 seconds light breaking will still not turn on the break lights. This issue is intermittent but is appearing more regularly. During a recent 40 mile trip I could use the cruise control for a couple miles, then loose it for a couple more with the brake lights on, then regain normal functionality for a couple more, etc.
My brakes lights are illuminated, while I'm driving and not pressing the brake pedal. The brake lights go off when I press the brake pedal. The "service esc / service traction" is more-often-than-not illuminated on the instrument panel. When "service esc / service traction" is lit, the cruise control will not work.
Intermittently the brake lights do not function correctly. When the vehicle is in park the brake light remains on. When thee vehicle is in drive, the brake light stays on. When accelerating, the brake light remains on. Other symptoms may include extended pedal travel required to shift out of park and cruise control does not function correctly.
My brake lights were illuminating like the brake pedal was being depressed; however, the brake pedal was not being depressed. When I did depress the brake pedal, the brake lights would go off completely. Then, after approximately 10 seconds, they would come back on like they were being depressed. Also, the cruise control was not working. It would not set and hold the car at a specific speed.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being depressed. Additionally, the contact lost control of the vehicle when traveling over a puddle, causing the vehicle to spin in partially into the direction of oncoming traffic. The service traction control warning light was illuminated. Also, the contact stated that the cruise control did not function properly. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, vehicle speed control). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that a recall repair was completed by the dealer and the failure recurred months later. The contact indicated that the cruise control feature failed to work and when applying the brake pedal the light did not illuminate. The brake light stayed lit when it was not applied. The manufacturer recall remedy did not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the brake light switch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. Dyd.
Three problems seem to have occurred around the same time: 1) the brake lights will illuminate when the brake pedal is not being depressed and will not illuminate when the brake pedal is being pressed; 2) the cruise control will not engage; and 3) sometimes the only way to get the gear selector out of park is to press down very hard on the brake pedal.
First noticed cruise disengaged while driving and would not re-engage. Cruise corrected itself after trying it after several miles. Second, a few weeks later, cruise quit functioning again, this time I noticed the brake lights were on while not touching brake petal. When applying brake petal the brake lights go off, and then they will come on when the petal is released. Drove 60 miles this way in the dark. When I reached destination it was dawn light and car was running in park. The brake lights were off and running lights on. When I hit brake petal the brake lights would function as normal. I don't know if cruise was working since I was parked. Personal thought; could brake light issue only be related while the auto headlamps are functioning? my investigation led to many hundreds of complaints around the internet about all of the same problems happening at the same time on Saturn Aura, chevy malibu, and pontiac g6. Ie brake lights operating in reverse of intended design, cruise control not working, and also transmission not shifting into or out of gear by the selector leaver. However, I am not noticing a shifter issue at this time. Huge safety hazard that the brake lights are functioning in reverse of normal design. However, all of the symptoms seem to be related and happening at the same time. I also found a technical bulletin no. : 08-05-22-009 with all of these related problems. Please finish investigation and move this to a recall!.
Cruise control dropped off unexpectedly and the brake lights remained on throughout the rest of the drive. The brake lights stay on when passed 4th gear and the Saturn shifts unnaturally between 4th and 6th gears between 50 and 70mph.
While driving along w/cruise control on it suddenly shuts off, and my brake lights come on without applying my brakes, the brake lights stay on until I apply my brakes then with my foot on the brake the lights go off I take my foot off the brake & the brake lights go on & stay on until I apply the brakes again & the cruise will not work when the brake light are on & when I first start the car I have to push real hard on the brake pedal to get the car out of park. This has been happening almost everyday for months now. I've had mechanics check it out they replaced stop light switch & cleaned contacts & reset computer but nothing works, general motors should have to correct this problem before somebody gets in a bad accident.
Was driving on freeway with cruise control on then suddenly the cruise control disengaged. When I looked in the rear view mirror I noticed that my 3rd brake light was coming on by itself and staying on and I was not pressing brake. Brakes come on and stay on when not pressing brake pedal and turn off when brake pedal is pressed. Makes other cars behind me think I'm braking when I'm not and when I do brake it looks as if I'm not braking. Risk getting rear ended because of this. Safety issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the cruise control disengaged independently and without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 29,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the cruise control disengaged independently and the brake light came on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 49,628.
Brake lights work opposite of expected. That they are on when accelerating and go off when braking!! this is very dangerous. I have had it to gm dealership 3 times and they say it drove fine, and charged me a diagnostic fee. Granted traction control light only goes on sporadically to cause this mess which also causes cruise control to not work. Just because Saturn is no longer a car maker, there seems to be a cover-up by gm to ignore this problem. Yet the employees get $6,000. Bonus checks. To only have 212 of these complaints is the tip of the iceberg. The web blogs are loaded with these complaints and no quick fix of conductor jell to help corrosion will fix the chip that has gone dangerously wrong. This is an accident waiting to happen in detroit rush hour commutes each day when brake lights are reversed! please help me. I think it is unethical to sell the "as is" to someone uninformed, so yet I keep driving it each day. Note that very often I get yelled at in car washes to get off my brake due to this reversal error in brake lighting. They will verify my problem even though gm will not.
Brake lights come on when foot is off the brake pedal. Brake lights will only turn off it pedal is tapped but brake lights will again come on a short time later 10 seconds +/- without foot on pedal. Also the cruise control will either not engage or will disengage on its own . The brake light problems is obviously dangerous. I've talked to several other people who have this same problem with the Aura, g6, malibu build platform. Please issue a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the cruise control was activated and unexpectedly disengaged on its own. The failure was a frequent occurrence. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and an unknown part was replaced on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
I was driving on the interstate my cruise control disengaged and the brake lights came on. The brake lights stayed on and the cruise control would not work. When brakes were applied the brake lights went off and no rear tail lights. Where visible. Since it was way out of warranty I took it to a local mechanic it took a long time to figure it out. They put dialmetic (spelling) on wires going into a connection box. It was very scary to drive felt like you need to pump your brakes when stopped to let other drivers know that you were stopped.

Car was set at 60mph cruise control and began auto excel to 78 before I noticed and disengaged by pressing brake.
Esc warning light constantly flashes under braking. Cruise control would shut off or not go on for some reason. I was advised by another driver that brake lights were not functioning. When I checked the brake lights I found that they were constantly on but when I engaged the brakes the lights would go off. I was constantly complaining about being tailgated and now I know why. If you traveling on the highway at 60 mph and when you hit the brakes the brake lights go off instead of on then it's obvious what can happen with the car behind you. I called gm customer service and the tier 2 tech and the supervisor acted like they were not aware of the problem. I told them that the problem seems to be fairly wide spread and that the NHTSA was investigating the problem. They still claimed they weren't aware of the problem. I do not feel I should have to pay for this since this problem seems to be widespread. When is the NHTSA going to complete it's investigation because I really can't afford a large bill from the dealer. I bought the car with 21,00 miles and it now has 62,000. . . The ecs light problem started within a year of ownership. The cruise/ brake problem started probably a year ago.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to work properly. The brake lights illuminated when the brake pedal was not engaged and it would not illuminate when the brake pedal was applied. The failure continued to occur intermittently over a period of three years. The contact also stated that the cruise control was no longer functioning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who replaced the body control module twice; however, the failure continued to occur. Nhtsa recall campaign number 14v252000 (electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the VIN was included and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
The brake lights on my car engage and disengage in no relation to the brake pedal being depressed. While driving, the brake lights will illuminate on their own and turn off when the brake pedal is pushed. Sometimes, the brake lights will turn off if the brake pedal is pulled up in the opposite direction. Repairs have been attempted on the following occurrences: July 21, 2011, July 27, 2011, August 21, 2012, March, 29, 2013, September 24, 2014, November 19, 2014. Repairs have included the following: brake light switch replaced (2 times); dielectric grease applied to bcm connectors (approximately 12 times); cruise control switches replaced; brake pedal home position recalibrated (2 times). The issue still has yet to be resolved, despite it being included in a gm recall from August 2014 number 13036, and having it twice been attempted under said recall. The gm dealership to which this car has been brought for the recall, colonial Buick pontiac GMC in watertown, MA claims that they have done everything under the terms of the recall and if the problem persists than it must be paid by the customer. This is antithetical to the purpose of the recall, which is to fix the problem, despite the terms of the recall not fully addressing the error. The service people at the dealership claim that what should be fixed next is replacing the brake light switch, despite that having been replaced twice. The gm recall is not fully addressing the problem, and I, as the customer, should not be expected to pay for any costs associated with fixing the malfunctioning brake lights.
