I would be bopping along on the highway, then all of a sudden, the check engine and reduced eng pwr messages appeared on the driver information console. On my way home from work the other day after the rain storm, I was driving on I-95 and all of the a sudden received several error messages in the dic: -service traction -eng pwr reduced the check engine and tc-disabled indicators remained lit. So I limped the rest of the way home on what felt like two-cylinders. After reading some info on the web I fond out that water could be coming in from some place and is affecting the throttle control module (part no. 15780668). I think this is another issue that gm need to look into because it can make the car just stop on the highway.

The car has seemed to miss shifts with the engines revving, a delay, and then a hard upshift for several years on an intermittent basis. The dealer it was purchased from couldn't find anything wrong with it. On June 25 and 26, it acted up more then usual and the transmission finally failed to provide any forward momentum after about 20 feet and 5 mph even though the tachometer showed 5000rpm while pulling out into 55 mph traffic on a 2 lane country road about noon on the 26th. This was very upsetting and is certainly a safety issue. I was able to get it to go by using the manual shift feature for a bit and then it settled down again. I took it to my local mechanic that very day and was advised I would need to go to the gm dealer as it was a problem with the computer programming in the transmission. When I contacted the dealer they said they were unaware of any issues like this. I found that hard to believe as similar issues have occurred in coworkers gm cars and are also reported on the internet in Saturn and gm forums. They kept the car for 2 days, initially saying there was no problem, and then said there might be an update after all to the transmission software and installed it. I do not feel comfortable with this and again find myself somewhat incredulous that gm would be unaware of a problem that my small town mechanic was.
Since buying my Saturn Aura in March 2007 my life has been a complete headache. I first had to take my car into the shop with only 2300 miles on it for rack and pinion to be replaced. Since then it has been in the shop no less than every 6 months. I have had to replace the brakes and rotors two times, motor mount, passenger air bag, sunroof drain, water pump, coolant crossover pipe, water reservoir, steering shaft and more. Now my rack and pinion is bad again and they will not fix it. Also there is a major rattle in front of car and squeal coming from front drivers side tire. They tell me that there is nothing wrong and cannot duplicate. Just recently I have started to notice that my car steering is funny and also that it cuts out or accelerates on it's own. I am planning on getting it back in again to the shop soon. I do not feel safe driving this car. I have three small children and want something done to stop all the problems.
