2 Seat Broken problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Drivers seat track broken. Weld between a cross tube and the tracks broke which appears to be a common problem with gm cars of a certain type during this same year as well as before and after 2007. Seat now is not stable, it rocks because it dropped down in the back left rear of the seat. Unstable drivers seat is not an ideal situation for maintaining control of the vehicle under certain maneuvers.

4 Seat Broken problem of the 2009 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

The back right weld on my drivers seat broke. I was driving one day and heard a loud pop and it sounded like my seat skipped groves in movement, but my seat is power. The back right weld snapped and I feel this is a manufacture problem. I weigh 206 lbs so it's not an issue of being too "heavy" and recent posts say it can cost up to 1000$ to fix. I find this should be a recall.

Structural weld under the driver's side seat broke. Seat now sways left to right, not secure in the vehicle. Visual indication of a weak, non-penetrative, robotic structural weld keeping the seat in place. Gm will not cover repair or replacement costs. Internet search shows this same issue happening across millions of vehicles under the Chevrolet and Saturn makes.

Driver seat abruptly fell down to the right side while driving. Inspection of driver seat revealed that the right side of the seat frame broke off. This caused the seat to immediately incline to right side.

9 Seat Broken problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

I was turning the corner when the seat shifted to the left and then the seat broke. When I looked under the back of the seat it looks as if the seat broke apart from the bolt that was holding it in place.

10 Seat Broken problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

I purchased a used 2008 Saturn Aura, for my son. The driver's seat would rub against the center concsole when it would be moved back/forth. I had a gm dealer look at it, and they showed me that the frame of the driver's seat is cracked. They had seen this before on the Aura, as well as other simialr cars in the gm family (pontiac g6, for example). The concern I had is if the cr is in an accident, the impact could break the seat from the frame, thus being dangerous for the driver, and possibly the passengers. I have seen in various online forums, complaints for the same issue. In some cases, gm has replaced the seat--even if the car is out of warranty. In some cases, gm did nothing. I spoke with gm, and the best they have offered me is a voucher for a few thousand dollars towards a new car, or 10% the installation cost of new seat. Yesterday (03/10/15), my son called me to tell me that the seat frame broke all the way through, and the seat is now very unstable--and he is no longer able to drive the car. Frankly, I will not let him drive the car now that this has happened, as it is very unsafe. Repaling the seat costs apprx. $800--I only spent $5,000 on the car when I bought it. With all of the issues gm has faced this past year with recalls, I think it is worth looking into this issue--especially since so many other people have reported the same problem. I do not have the VIN available right now, as I am out of town for work. I can get you the info on Friday of this week (03/13/15), if you need it for reference. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kory kofsky 216. 410. 6936 mobile 330. 723. 3049 home.

11 Seat Broken problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

Drivers seat broke down on right side, causing it to slump towards the console. Upon taking it to the dealer to seek repair, was told that the welding of the seat unit had broken. The entire seat and the housing base require replacement over $1000 to fix. While it doesn't require fixing to operate car, the danger is in a crash, having the seat catapult out entirely being as it is not affixed to the vehicle any more. You can wiggle it up and down freely, this could also allow the seat to throw someone into the air bags as they deploy, causing injuries because it is not fastened down. After researching online, this vehicle make and model is prone to this problem for the few short years it was made. We feel that gm needs to update this seat problem, and while not sure, they use chev malibu replacement parts for it, so that model may also be experiencing the problem for more data. A seat should be intact, attached safely to the vehicle we would think. Never heard of seats being free of the body of the car while driving.

12 Seat Broken problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The back right weld on the driver's seat frame broke, causing the seat to tilt toward the center of the car. In addition to being uncomfortable, I cannot believe having a seat that is not fully attached to the frame would be safe were I to be involved in an accident. I have seen numerous complaints on several sites regarding the same issue of the faulty welds on the driver's seat. I'm surprised to find there hasn't been a recall yet. Also having issues with the airbag sensors, for which I am also seeing many similar complaints.

13 Seat Broken problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 09/16/2011

I was adjusting my electronic drivers seat when I noticed that right side wasn't responding to any vertical adjustments I tried to make. It still worked forwards and back so I thought nothing of it and started on my 2 hours drive to work. I discovered that whenever I banked left on the freeway that the right side of the seat would raise up and then slam back down because it was now loose. The mounting bar for the drivers seat was broken. It was dangerous to drive the this way - always bouncing around made it hard to steer straight. I took it to the dealer and was quoted $600 + labor to replace the seat. I did not have the work done. I took a metal hose clamp and secured the two broken ends of the mounting bar together then wrapped it with duck tape to keep the clamp in place. The seat still could not be raised or lowered but the fix worked for the last three years. I have seen dozens of posts from people with the same problem and it just doesn't seem right that this should happen.

14 Seat Broken problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

Drivers seat frame broken. Seat would not move and was sliding while being driven. Seat was replaced by dealer under extended warranty. Drivers seat frame broke again November, 2011. Part of the seat would not move. Inspection showed the frame which anchors it to the floor was broken again. This car is a 1 owner, never in an accident.

15 Seat Broken problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 12/14/2010

On 14th Dec 2010, while driving my 2007 Saturn Aura in town I heard a loud crack and the rear left side of my drivers seat dropped. I had to slow down as my foot left the gas pedal, awkward position and dangerous because if I was out on the highway, I could have lost control. I drove to the nearest chevy dealer as Saturn is now closed. The dealer advised that the frame of the seat broke. I was told I would need to purchase a new frame at a cost of $1200. I refuse to pay this for a leased vehicle. The vehicle has just over 43500 miles on it. I have now parked the car and will not drive it as it is not safe. If I had been in an accident, the seat failure could cause serious injury or death as it is an integral part of a vehicle's safety systems. I am waiting on gm area rep to get back to me as to whether or not they will cover the cost. This is not a wear and tear item, that I do not mind paying for. My wife at 105 lbs drives the car 90% of the time. This vehicle was leased in canada, I am canadian, however car was built in u. S. A. And I see others on the NHTSA site have complained about same issue. Transport canada has also been advised.

16 Seat Broken problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 02/18/2010

The left rear mounting bracket on the driver's seat weld broke. This is part of the seat and is welded to a bar inside the rear part of the seat. This and the other three seat brackets then ride inside the movement gudes. With this bracket broken off the seat, the seat is held in place by only the three remaining brackets. The left rear of the driver's seat floats.
