Three problems related to headlights have been reported for the 2005 Saturn ION. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Saturn Ion. The contact that upon activation of her headlights, her headlight would shine dim without warning and caused her to have poor visibility while driving at night. The vehicle had yet to be taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 09e012000 (exterior lighting) however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle had yet to repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Jo.
On may 29, 2014 when driving from home to work on my Saturn Ion 2005. At approximately 35 miles per hour the engine did not turn off, but the steering got extremely hard that I actually drove on the other lane with incoming traffic going the opposite way of my direction. The dashboard went blank, my headlights turned off mentioning that it was approximately 0940 night time.
