Tire Tread/belt problems of the 2006 Saturn ION

Two problems related to tire tread/belt have been reported for the 2006 Saturn ION. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Ion. The vehicle has goodyear assurance (na), size p195/60r14 tires. While driving between 35 and 60 mph, the vehicle began making a loud humming sound. After the vehicle had been parked for a few hours, the front driver side tire flattened. The contact stated that the rear passenger side tire went flat the week before and triple a changed the tire. Chunks of tread separated from the inside of the tire. The contact called goodyear and they stated that it was the contact's responsibility. The failure occurred on three tires. One tire was a replacement and the other three came with the vehicle. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 27,000.

2 Tire Tread/belt problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2006

The consumer has had two incidents of tire tread separation. Saturn dealer replaced tire as defect free of charge. Dealership took pictures of tire. The consumer was driving approximately 75 mph. The road conditions were dry.
