1 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2005 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 12/22/2007

Passenger front wheel of a 2005 Saturn Ion 3, still under factory warranty with 27,000 miles, locked up on Dec 22, 2007 causing a single car collision. An ase certified mechanic looked the car over after having it towed to my residence and saw that the spindle was broken, but there was no sign of other damage to the vehicle that would cause enough force to break the spindle. His opinion is that the spindle (cast aluminum) was over-tightened at the dealership and had a defect/hairline crack that finally failed. The failure happened at 60 miles per hour, causing the vehicle to slam into the guardrail, then spin into a ditch. When the spindle failed and the vehicle pulled sharply to the right, I attempted to hit the brakes which went to the floor and did nothing. Insurance has refused to cover the damage, and declared the damage a manufacturer defect.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 04/17/2007

Driving down "grand Ave" in stop and go traffic speeds from 0 to 25 on and off. Traffic started moving and then came to a complete stop like normal. Stepped on brakes, they went all the way to the floor and my Saturn Ion did not stop, it was like they gave out on me. Had fender binder with car in front of me. No damage to their Jeep, I have taken to autobody solutions by Saturn and will have the following replaced: bumper cover, absorber, impact bar, light corner cover, car cover, flex additive and the following repaired: frame set up & measure, buff, tint color. When I told them the brakes gave out on me, that they went all the way to the floor and I did not slow down that there is nothing wrong with your brakes as your driving fine now. If they gave out on you, they still would not be working.
