3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 03/26/2020

I need to know why your system shows no recalls for my vehicle using the VIN number, but has (7) recalls if I use year/make/model, the system should allow me to run the VIN, see all recalls, and even report with proof if the recall is complete, like a check list. Your system is useless if the manufacturer is not agreeing to the recalls under the year/make/model and assigning the recalls to the VIN to grant approval to dealers to repair, a dealer will not complete a gm recall unless gm approves of the recall for a particular VIN. I have electrical issues with my vehicle that falls in the category of the recalls, but I'm not paying out of pocket for these repairs, when they are known safety issues.

Throttle body position sensor again and again causes major loss of power and sometimes results in stalling out in seconds.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 12/13/2017

Car just recently popped up power steering only happens when its sits over night and when I start it up in the morning it's very stiff to turn but if I drive it like that for a little and shit the car off the steering is fine. The dash lights flicker off and on and when doing so causes heat or a/c to cut out after driving it for alittle bit. The key locks in the ignition switch when I go to shut off the car and I have to press the plunger for it to release. Keeps saying coolant when going down the road even though the coolant is where it needs to be.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 11/04/2017

I purchased this vehicle and the previous owner did not take it for recalls. It has 6 recalls. . The car seems to have a leak by gas tank, smells like gas. I got temporary plates for now but car needs to go to emissions.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 10/26/2017

Engine reduction, serious safety concern, was almost hit by a semi, engine reduction light comes on, lose power and car slows at a high rate causing extreme safety hazard in traffic, must pull off interstate turn car off to reset, happening 2-3 times a day, strong smell of gas, have a leak and it is not covered under the warranty, sooner or later someone is going to be cruising down the interstate and their Saturn is going to reduce engine power and they will not have time to get out of the way, they will be plowed down by a semi. Are we going to continue to allow gm to ignore this issue like they ignored the ignition switch probelms until it starts causing deaths, why not solve the issue before the deaths start to occur, it seems the older these year models get the worse this problem becomes. I was forced to put a date, but this is an ongoing problem that is getting increasingly worse with the fuel leak, maybe one day the engine will reduce power at the same time I will get run over by a semi and the car will explode into flames from the fuel leak they are not recalling for my vehicle.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

Takata recall when I slow down my lights dim very low. It makes it hard to see at night.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 04/27/2016

Takata recalls. . I have a 2003 Saturn Ion I was driving fine hit cruise control button once I was at 55 an my car made a clicking sound started jerking like the cruise control keeps coming on. . . I've turned car off hit brakes which should reset it but it still happens. . The car feels like its down shifting an trying to accelerate on its on the rpms hump real high wen this happens. . You be driving doing 50 mph an all the sudden car jerks like its trying to stop u feel I t in gas pedal also. . .

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 12/31/2015

I have to have the electrical computer replaced - the car drops to 1st gear and doesn't move up, the door locks lock then unlock and continue to do that, the engine light comes on, the power steering alarm comes on (but I don't lose power steering) and the speedometer stops working! this happens while driving with no notice except the door locks start first them the other issues happen simultaneously.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

I bought this car as a first car for my daughter that is a new driver. I has been off the road more than on the road for recalls. The first ignition recall could have injured or killed my daughter. . As we were awaiting parts, we were following directions of no weight on key ring and only key in ignition. The incident still happened causing loss of power steering and loss of speed. As a new driver this incident scarred her and she did not feel comfortable driving the car. I put the car up for sale. Then another recall, the eps which also causes the car to lose power steering and causes speed loss. So, back to garber and we just drove the car back home on January 2, 2015. Seemed to start out fine, then loss of speed and the car only drove at 35 mph with a lot of effort. I paid $3500 for this car for my daughter. . Still paying on the loan and now I cannot get it to run correctly or sell it. . I am stuck with a non-running vehicle that I have to insure as well. This total is costing me over $300 a month while the car sits. I don't know if my dealer did the recall correctly. I have had issues with my impala as well with recalls being done correctly. One including my airbag recall and a seat belt issue that I paid out of pocket 100. 00 after several issues. I feel gm should reimburse me for this vehicle as I cannot sell it or drive it. It is not fair that I purchased this from a dealer only pay for a non working vehicle.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

My car war just repaired for the recall ignition, however, it is still not working right. Not only that, but the power steering is going off and on. The power steering went off twice on my way home after I picked it up from the dealer, almost causing an accident. I had to pull to the side of the road twice. I contacted the dealer, but they show nothing on the power steering. This is the only vehicle my family has, and I'm afraid to drive the car. Iit is not safe! I have had files open since 2008 about the power steering, and other issues. Saturn is aware of the issues. I have had to have the power steering replaced twice.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 04/22/2014

I was driving along and suddenly, the power steering stopped working. Was in the passing lane moving back into the travel lane when without warning there was no power steering. No alarms went of warning me something was not working properly. I was able to get off the highway but had a harder time making turns on the side streets. I have never before heard of the problems that are suddenly affecting y car.

17 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

I was rear ended on the freeway on 11/17/13. I went to get it fixed about a week later. They had my car for about 3 days. When I went to pick up my car, there was no power steering. When the gentleman tried to put power steering fluid in it, he noticed it was electric. He said it must have gone out. Now I have to pay to fix my power steering and I didn't have my car when it went out!.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/21/2013

On June 21, 2013 pulled into parking lot and attempted to turn engine off. Key was stuck in the on position. Tried several times to remove key but could not. Car was still running. In order to turn car off had to remove the fuse plug from the fuse box under the hood. Also had to disconnect battery in order to not have everything else continue to run and kill the battery. I took it to mechanic who replaced the key ignition but now the car will not start. Seems like its an electrical or security problem within the engine. This is a safety hazard and should be a recall item. Car is still in shop with mechanic hoping to get it started.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 05/04/2013

Slight shudder at a stoplight. . Lost acceleration and power steering. Made it to shop. Code p0420 catcon was all that came up, battery and alternator(new) tested fine and vehicle started like nothing happened. I had exhaust tested and 4 hours of general diagnostics= "the car seems fine, yes that is weird, just keep an eye on it" it twice more, and consistently felt "rough" before February 2014, (two years) got new suspension, spark plugs, fuel and coolant systems cleaned, etc. . . My car felt almost new, a little rough so I babied it. After all, it is obsessively well maintained. . . Immediately after recall ignition switch replaced by dealer, one month ago, the "really rough" feeling returned. Shifting hard, vibrating, it almost stalled at intersections intermittently. Dealer checked transmission (along with two other shops that love money). . . All say transmission is fine, but to me it felt like it was falling apart. When I had a day off two days ago, I brought it to three transmission shops, two exhaust shops, and two tire shops (who also inspected my suspension, wheel balance and brakes) all said it was fine and that is "normal" to feel that way as I approached 183000 miles. The the next day ( last night) when after ten minutes of driving, in the space of thirty seconds, I lost acceleration, power steering, radio was flashing lights, battery light and service engine warning came on along with the airbag light. . My car couldn't make it over the little hump across the intersection and I (5'3 120 lbs) was forced to push my running car across the highway that runs through town. I made it to the frontage road, barely able to turn which put me head on with another car that had to swerve around me. The car wouldn't start. Battery tested fine. Towed home.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 10/08/2012

I currently own a '07 Saturn Ion and just yesterday my power steering display light came on shortly after that I was unable to turn my steering wheel luckily I was able to move to the side and called for help.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 09/27/2012

Traveling on an interstate at 65 mph we heard a tone indicating something was wrong, steering became difficult and we noticed that the power steering indicator light was on. The power steering was gone and it became very hard to steer and was unable to quickly maneuver. We pulled over, turned off the car and then restarted it and the power steering came back on. Same thing happened again after traveling a few miles. We were able to get home and now the power steering shuts down every few minutes. Car is unsafe on public roads in regards to being able to make quick maneuvers and could lead to accidents and injuries. Clearly a manufacturing problem not normal wear and tear. Chev. & pont. Cars with same equipment and complaints were recalled. Saturns should be also. There is an open action number of ea11014.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

Today 8/8/12, I jumped into my 2004 Saturn Ion at 5pm after work & immediately noticed that I could not turn my wheel as I exited the parking lot, I had to swerve hard to my right to by avoid a collision with two cars from the opposite direction. I was terrified! my display showed "pwr str" I had never seen that before, I left my car diagonally parked, since it would not move went for assistance, a passerby looked under my hood for a while then turned my car on and the display was back to mileage and my wheel was working fine!! I drove my car home and immediately started to do some research to find out what it could be and how I could fix it, I find out that their is a known problem with the power steering! I have not received any letters at all. My car has been reliable up until now. It has close to 150k mil (mileage is an estimate on this form) since this appears to be a gm problem, what are my options? thank you.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 05/17/2012

I was driving on a highway around 6 p. M. On my way home from work with my 3 year old in the back seat when suddlenly I felt my steering wheel jerk. I quickly realized something was wrong so I exited the road and went to a nearby gas station. I saw that my power steering light came on. This IA a serious problem, and gm was unwilling to fix the issue. I have a 100 thousand mile power train warrenty yet they say this problem is not covered. I have had other problems in the past with the electrical system as well as the fuel pump. Why has this problem not been addressed? I have seen several different people from several different rescources that have had the same problem, so why is this daingerous problem not been disclosed to gm's customers?.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 05/12/2012

I was driving down the street and all of the sudden the car was acting funny and not driving normally. Then the pwr str light came on. I pressed my onstar button and asked them to run a diagnostic check. It came back with nothing. I proceeded to the store I was going to. When I went back to the car and turned it on the steering wheel / column was loose and drove normally for about a minute. After that there was a beep and the pwr str light came on again and it was very difficult to steer.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

I own a 2006 Saturn Ion 2 4d sedan. I am the sole owner of my vehicle. Vehicle was purchased new and currently has approximately 130,000 miles. Traveling home on a busy highway, I heard my notification sound go off and my message indicator read "pwr str" and my steering wheel immediately began to stall. Trying not to panic, I assumed that the steering wheel would still be operational but I noticed it was becoming increasingly difficult to maneuver. I managed to exit the busy interstate and once I got to the stop light I noticed I could no longer move the wheel. I turned my car off and turned it back on and it seemed to work so I was able to get home. Unacceptable!! this was extremely dangerous to happen on a busy interstate or anywhere for that matter. I am scared to death to drive this car in fear that this will happen again. What if I was not able to get off the highway? this was a terrible experience and something should be done about this!!!!!.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

2007 Saturn Ion 3 manual sedan 1. ) fuel pump delivery system recall and has been repaired after a serious fuel leak was detected. 2. )purge flow solenoid- engine light came on after the pump delivery system was detected but was not repaired because it was not included in recall. Car gets very little gas mileage because the fuel to oxygen ratio being off. Every time I go to the gas station I cannot get my car to start. It doesn't matter if I have half of a tank of gas or almost on empty. It takes several tries and only starts after I rev the engine because the fuel to oxygen ratio and the fuel pump floods my car as soon as the fuel pump is engaged. I know that after this happens so many times that it will cause the starter to burn up in my car. 3. ) ignition switch- cannot turn key on as if the steering wheel is locked/ cannot turn key off/ take key out and car is still running! disconnect battery to shut the car off. 4. ) electronic power steering- acts as if the power steering has a short. While driving with speeds as little as 15mph in a residential neighbor hood or 70mph on the interstate. The power steering light comes on and all power steering is lost and becomes almost impossible to drive. After shutting the car off and restarting the car the power steering works but shortly after it fails again. This happens every time I drive my car. The first time this happened I was on an exit ramp on the interstate with a very sharp curve. I could barely control the vehicle. Needless to say my children are no longer allowed to ride in this car until it is repaired.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

While driving my Saturn Ion 2004 the power steering light in the dashboard came on while I was engaging in a curve on highway 15, I was barely able to control the vehicle no to crash on the concrete middle divider and had to immobilize the vehicle, stop the engine and restart it in order to get the power steering to work again. This has happen to me few time per year over the last 3 years but now I am afraid for my life and it is happening more and more frequently.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 01/12/2011

Continual computer/electrical problems beginning - 1/12/10 + 1/14/10 + 12/29/10 + 6/21/11 + current problem 6/25/11 dealership charged $120 for diagnosis each incidence since 12/19/10. Current mileage 22,170.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

Ignition locked and could not remove key to stop engine, only way to shut off engine was to disconnect battery cables--called dealer in frederick, MD the very next morning--had to have my car towed to the gm dealer, frederick, MD, the dealership repaired the problem and I was charged $512. 36 and I paid the invoice of $512. 36. I received a recall letter on March 14, 2014 #14v-047 -- I am requesting the reimbursement in the matter.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I have 2 Saturn Ions. One is a 2004, and the other is a 2006. Both are having problems with the power steering module which turns off while driving, then resets when vehicles turned off and restarted, only to turn off again while driving. This is a minor problem @ speeds over about 20mph, but @ lower speeds the wheel becomes difficult to turn.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 12/05/2009

2006 Saturn Ion-3 automatic 2. 4l 1. Power steering: power steering goes out nearly every time I drive the vehicle. Saturn dealership changed a sensor I the steering column, but problem persists. It is very dangerous to be driving in the city without power steering. 2. Ignition: car refuses to start when temperature is below 15-20 degrees fahrenheit. I have been stranded in below freezing weather for almost an hour because of this common Saturn failure.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 10/07/2009

Saturn Ion 3 has intermittent starting problems; it's been checked for problems, but to no avail. The problem appears to be with ignition switch which appears to have a short of some kind. Car starts, then shuts off, then when trying to restart, appears dead, wait 5-10 minutes and it starts again. No automotive tech could detect what the problem was.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/18/2009

Bought my Saturn Ion 2 2006 in 2005 obviously brand new and was talked into purchasing a $1500 bumper to bumper warranty. I immediately had problems but was told by Saturn mechanics nothing was wrong with my car. In 2009 as I was getting home the key got stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn off, I couldn't turn off the car at all. I was lucky that the dealership was open and able to unplug the battery. They fixed it but the warranty wouldn't pay, so I paid out of pocket to fix it. Well, last Sunday it happened again, in 105 degree heat. I had no where to take it since dealerships are closed sundays. My car ran for over 5 hours because no one could figure out how to unplug the battery. Only a professional knows how to turn off the car safely, yet many people risked turning it off. I am sure some people would find it easy to turn off the car by disconnecting the battery but still it not safe. My car was so hot no one could touch it, I was afraid it was going to start on fire. This is a very common problem and needs to be investigated and recalled. We have to be able to turn off an engine. Please investigate this issue, Saturn nor gm will take responsibility for this defect, even though when you google Saturn Ion 2 2006 all the reviews say the same thing about the ignition cylinder.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/04/2009

Driving 2005 Saturn Ion, aprox 43,000 miles on the vehicle. . . Electronic power steering motor gets"hot" and shuts down. No power steering in vehicle. Turn vehicle off and the electronic mechanism resets itself and works until the next time it shuts down while driving. Took vehicle to Saturn dealership, power steering motor is burned out and needs to be replaced. Roughly 1300. 00. Or I can just drive it as is. Tech voiced concern that the electronic problems in there could be very problematic because they could get hot and start a fire. Upon researching this problem n these models, there seems to be an overabundance of reports of the same issues. I called gm and reported the problem and let them know that there seemed to be problems with these particular models and that this could result in an accident because it has to do with steering the vehicle, and that since it will reset if you turn the vehicle off and drive for awhile, then consumers may opt not to spend the money to correct the problem, as it is very expensive. I feel that these should be recalled and corrected.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 02/10/2009

2005 Saturn Ion level 3. If it is below freezing outside the car will not start. This is a very common issue with Saturn Ions. The car will not start at first, then if you wait 20-30 minutes it will start. The issue is the ignition switch which is faulty. Also, the dealership I bought the car from told me it had a full powertrain and bumper to bumper warranty and when I brought it in they denied that.
