Started driving my 2007 Saturn Ion from tampa to orlando. When I notice a vibration through out the vehicle. It gradually grew worse so I pulled over. At which time something flew out from under my car. Coming to a stop, I checked the car out and saw nothing wrong. I started driving, in hopes to make it to the next exit, but it didn't. The vibration got ridiculous and I pulled over to find my front driver side tire flat. Upon removing the tire, discovered a large piece of threading was missing along with other damage to the inside of the tire. Which is why I did not see it the first time I pulled over. Tire is the good year assurance.

Yes a few months afo I financed a 2006 Saturn Ion level 3 since the first week having it have had nothing but problems including a major gas leak and severe gas fumes inside and outside the cab when running and not. The dealer had givin me nothing but lies and the fun around and attitude. Had been documented by an outside mechanic the car in unsafe to be on the roads and should never have passed inspection which the dealer did. I really need help. I know it's a good chance it's a flood car they sold me. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 Saturn Ion. The vehicle has the original firestone affinity touring tires. All four tires have cracked to the point that a tire gauge can be placed inside. The vehicle was taken to the inspection station and the contact was ordered to replace the tires. She went to a local firestone dealer and was informed that she needed to replace her tires and that the failure was not under recall. The contact paid for new tires, but believes that the manufacturer should have been responsible for the repairs. The dot number and tire size were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 23,240. Updated 10/16/08. Updated 10/17/08.

I own a 2005 Saturn Ion with the original firestone affinity touring tires p195/60r15 tires, that have 20,300 miles. On 2/16/08 I went to a tire shop as both front tires had lost most of the air. The manager inspected all four tires and showed me that the split on the inside and how it was working it's way out. For safety reasons I bought 4 new tires. But I am very concerned that these could cause and accident and feel the manufacturer should replace the tires.
Recently bought a newer car(o3 Ion coup) was told the tires were new after driving about 5,793 miles I am told by the dealer that the tire have chopp. I as well now see their is a recall on the tire line NHTSA id # 01t006000. They are firestone tires fire hawk gta-02 205-55r16. The dealer told me their was no hazard but now im very concerned. The car is not riding right. The dealer at this point is only willing to replace one tire. I as well have filed a claim with my warranty road hazard at 1-800346-6469 claim # 21833283 as of 11/07/2007. I have contacted the dealer to try and get them replaced under their warranty. I only have driven 5,793 miles on the tires. I feel that their is a problem with the tire. And am unsure of where to go with this now. . . .

I have a 2006 Saturn Ion, it came standard with goodyear assurance tires. Within 25 thousand miles, the tires began to balloon, blister. I had one explode on the highway, the remaining 3 soon began the same process of blistering. I replaced all four tires with the same type of tire from goodyear, assurance. Once again, within 25 thousand miles, they began the same process, ballooning and blistering. I replaced all four with another type of tire for my families safety. The tires were replaced at discount tire company in tyler texas, on broadway Ave. I tried talking with goodyear, and they would not acknowledge there was a problem with the tires. Please investigate these tires, they are defective. I have gone through 8 tires. The first replacement occurred December, 2006, the second run on replacements was April, 2008.
While traveling on an interstate highway, observed a soft flapping sound that caused concern. Before I could slow down or take any action the left rear tire tread separated from the wheel and then the complete tire was ejected from the vehicle. I was able to exit the roadway and called the state highway patrol. To report the incident and request roadside assistance.
Oem tires on 2004 Saturn Ion red line unsafe to use on winter driving conditions. Had to replace tires with winter rated ones. The consumer experienced excessive stopping distance while on slippery surface. On one occasion the vehicle went a half a block past the consumer's turn when the abs activated but couldn't find a tire with enough traction to stop the vehicle. The consumer found that the oem tires, dunlop sp9000, were the cause of the excessive stopping distance.
About 1 month ago, I began to notice a thumping noise coming from what I thought was my front passenger tire. I began to try to establish the pattern of the noise and verified that it primarily occurs at low speeds of 20-25mph or high speeds of 50-55 mph when I apply the brakes. I took my car into Saturn dealership 9/18/04 to have it 'checked out'. The mechanic diagnosed that I either had a failing wheel-bearing or I needed to replace my tires. The mechanic assured me that there was not immanent danger of driving the car. Exactly one week later I was driving down a paved road and the wheel comes completely off. Upon personal investigation, I find that all four lugnuts have broken off. I had the car towed back to the dealership where I was told that they "did not know why the tire came off, and there appeared to be no damage, so they offered to place the tire back on and 'send me on my way'. I chose to leave my car unrepaired at the dealership until the regional engineer could look at it, conveniently, the following day. The engineer supplied that there seemed to be no reason for the lugnuts to have broken and the tire to have come off. The engineer offered to further test the tire and 'take a closer look' at the parts that hold the tire on. The engineer told us he had placed the tire on another car and discovered that the noise was coming from a plug that had been placed in the tire over a year ago. He also stated he still did not know what caused the lugnuts to break and the tire to come off. He stated that Saturn was not liable due to me having my tires rotated over a year ago by an outside company. He suggested he could "fix" my car if I were willing to pay for the damages incurred during the accident. He also suggested I file a claim through my vehicle insurance company.
A brake pad fell off the trailer in front and struck his vehicle damaging the tire.
