Two problems related to steering rack have been reported for the 2000 Saturn LS. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The power steering fails after about 5 mins of operation. The dealer said it was an "unspecified failure of the steering rack", and that it would cost $1500 to replace. This has been going on since spring of 05. I contacted Saturn corporate directly, but they refused to help with the problem.
Steering rack needs to be replaced for the second time at 54,000 miles.
