Five problems related to tail light have been reported for the 2002 Saturn LS. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Rear tail light issues.
The tailight assemblies on the Saturn l series cars have a habit of working intermittenly; the only repair is to replace the lens. This is obviously a manufacturing defect, and is a very serious safety issue. My taillights worked intermittenly for several days. I changed the bulbs, but that did not fix the problem. The problem was defective lenses.
My wife's 2002 Saturn l-100 sedan had a taill ight out (left side). Replacing the bulb didn't fix the problem, money lost. When the dealership was contacted they claimed the whole light housing required replacement because of a known harness defect. The vehicle was no longer under warrenty, so we had to pay for the replacement (more money lost). But it's a safety device. . . What could we do?.
The rear tail lights are defective. The owner has had the rear tail lights replaced on 4 separate occasions. Owner has contacted the dealer and the manufacturer. The dealer has made the replacements but the manufacturer does not see the seriousness of the defective rear lamps. Provide further details.
When the tail lights come on brake lights stop working. This problem occurs every two to three months. Dealer stated there was corrosion and moisture in the tail lights. Saturn, lw300 2002.
