1 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

After I turn on my headlights they will be fine for a bit and then one will go out and sometimes the other will follow suit. It can be either if them. Sometimes I can turn the lights on and then off and it will come back on.

2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

My passenger low beam headlight has burnt out and has been replaced at least 4 times in 1 month. It's currently 12/15/19 and it's burnt out as we speak.

3 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

When I turn on headlight only one side work when I turn on high beams they come on it's a wiring issue.

4 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

My headlight keeps burning out. I've bought the car used a year and a half ago and I've replaced 4 headlights and had the wiring harness replaced twice. It keeps overheating and burning out.

5 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

Having issue with lowbeam headlights not operating. I have to use high beam headlights when driving at night or during rain. Had a master mechanic look at it and he said it is the headlight harness. That it tends to melt and it will cost me an arm and a leg to replace. This should not be happening and it should be on recall because this is a dangerous situation while driving at night or during rain storms having to leave my high beams on only irritates other drivers not to mention myself.

6 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

Complete loss of low beam headlights while driving at night.

7 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

I purchased a used 2007 Saturn Outlook in February of 2016. A week later I noticed my passenger headlight out. The light started to go in and out then finally it stopped working. In April I payed $130 to replace it. A few weeks to a month later the light went out again. I had a friend look at it and they discovered it was the wiring harness. I looked online and found out that this has happened to many people. I called my local gm dealer and asked about a recall. I was told it was no recall and they don't know how much it will cost me. They seemed more concerned about how much the mechanic will get paid than trying to help me. I'm very disappointed.

8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2016

Purchased 2007 Saturn in July 2007. Had issue with both headlights flickering intermittently in fall of 2009. One would go out and the other would stay on. Took it for service on 10/20/09 and they could not duplicate the problem. The problem persisted intermittently and took it to get service on 4/8/10. They had the car for several days as they couldn't find the flickering problem. Finally found it and replaced pass. Side headlight. Took it to another dealer for service on 3/13/13 as the passenger side headlight was going off and back on again intermittently. They replaced the head lamp ballast. 3/24/16 I took it to another dealer as the driver headlight was going off/on intermittently but seemed to work when I would change from automatic to manual. They could not recreate the problem and said the headlight was operational. Currently, as of 7/25/16, the front driver headlight goes on and off intermittently. I have given up trying to get it fixed. There is clearly a problem with these headlights.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2014

I had my passenger low beam light already fixed because of this issue with the wiring harness to the low beam light melt. Now my driver side headlight went out and its the same issue as before with the wiring harness melting and the light not working on some days and then working the next day or later in the day when I start the car up again. This needs to be addressed by gm to get it fixed. I know there was a service bulletin put out for the vehicle that expired December 31, 2013. Both of my low beam lights have stopped working this year.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

I have a 2007 Outlook xr with re-occuring headlight issues, upon further troubleshooting of the issue and removal and replacement of the low beam bulbs numerous times, I found the wiring harness at the connection point of the headlight bulbs were melted through the harness thus leaving exposed wires. Like so many have experienced this very same issue with Saturn Outlooks, this is a very high fire hazard and should be investigated further. Thanks for your time respectfully submitted.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2014

My 2007 Saturn Outlook keeps melting the harnesses for headlights.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

Numerous times while driving at night the headlights will flicker and sometimes completely go out. Never both at the same time, but both sides have done this. It doesn't matter if they are in automatic or manual mode. They can be brought back on by turning them off and on or cycling from manual mode to automatic or vice versa, but that is not a fix. That is another safety hazard having to cycle headlights off and on while driving at night. This is a huge safety concern that needs to be fixed by gm. They are very aware of this problem in the Saturn Outlook line of vehicles among other vehicles they produce.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

Headlight failures. As I see over and over on this site. Passenger headlight stopped working so I replaced the bulb and it worked for 2 weeks then went out again. As I was replacing it again, I noticed that the socket that the bulb plugged into was scorched/melted and brittle. I read up on the problem online and chose to splice in a new socket rather than spend hours at the dealership only to be told that they would need to replace the whole harness at some outrageous price. It seems to be doing fine. Now the driver side headlight has stopped working so I am facing the same situation over again. This is an issue that clearly should be addressed by a recall. Gm saving few pennies on a socket that won't handle the heat of the high intensity headlamp and it ends up costing the consumer hundreds.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2012

My driver's side low beam headlight was replaced about 2 mths ago. The light went out again. I took it into a repair shop and they said the harness was melted!! I looked this up online for a recall and found nothing. However, I did find that numerous people have experienced the same thing. Any time something on a vehicle is melting. . . I would think this should be a huge safety issue. Considering it has happened over and over to many people, I would think that it would also be a recall. It cost me well over $100. I feel that I should be reimbursed for this. Thanks.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2012

Started car after work, right headlight did not come on. Took it into the shop, had it replaced, $165. Two weeks later left head light went out. A week after, right headlight went out again. Took car into shop and paid double for both to be replaced. One month later left headlight went out again. Was told by mechanic that harness for headlight had melted and needs replacing as well. Have invested almost $700 in headlight repair in 12 weeks.

16 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2012

Driver side headlight keeps going out . . But the bulb isn't burnt out ,if I pull it out and put it back in it works fine for a few days then goes out again.

17 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2012

The high and low beam headlight on the passenger side of my 2007 Saturn Outlook only works sometimes. It normally comes on when the vehicle is started but after a few minutes it goes off. It continuously goes on and off when I'm driving it. The bulbs are both good. I have taken it to the dealership twice and they are not sure what's wrong with it. The wiring harness recall has already been replaced.

18 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2012

I changed out the front right headlight. After I changed it out, roughly two days later the same light was out again. I checked the light, light was fine but wire harness was not working properly. After playing with the placement of the harness, I was able to get the light to work again. But light has not stayed on longer than two days without me having to work on it in some way.

19 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

My passenger headlight went out and before I put a new bulb in, it came back on for a week. My headlight then went out and stayed out. When I went to change the bulb, I saw the black wire insulation on the harness was melted and also the plastic of the bulb contact was melted. I have worked with electrical wiring for 30 years and believe the wire size is too small for the current that the headlight draws.

20 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2011

I had my car looked at by the local mechanic to find out the headlight assembly on the passenger side has went bad. My car is out of warranty so its not covered. It seems this has been a frequent problem with this car and this should be a recall.

21 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the daytime running lights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where she was informed that the driver side headlight was melted. Since the headlight socket wiring harness failed, it caused the head beam light to fail and the contact was advised that the failure could result in an electrical fire. The manufacturer was contacted but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. No repairs were performed. The current and the failure mileages were 65,000. The VIN was unavailable.

22 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2011

I purchased the vehicle approximately 2 years ago and I had to change the front headlight about one year later. I could not figure out how to change a simple part so I researched online and was able to successfully change the bulb. The bulb lasted a few months and then blew out again. I thought that I had a faulty $25-30 bulb so I bought another. I had to re-research how to change the bulb and this time I found out that other Saturn Outlook owners have had the same problem. I changed the bulb and it burned out after about two weeks. I could then see that the wire harness that plugs into the bulb was melted. I feel as though this is not good and has the potential to start a fire. Please do something.

23 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2011

Headlight wiring harness melted on passenger side daytime driving lamp - must replace entire harness ($40).

24 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2011

Headlight went out -started to change light and it came back on. Went out again and took to the car to the dealer for repair -it was not headlight - wiring harness/wiring melted and exposed the wiring. This problem is so common in Saturn Outlooks that I was able to do an internet search and tell the dealer the service bulletin number of the problem. This problem is not from use, abuse, but from a flaw in wiring that I feel is a safety issue. A recall needs to be issued before more problems/fires occur and results in serious injury. Also -- it will be one week ago tomorrow since the dealer ordered the parts and still have not received them. My vehicle has no front headlight - I have four children and need transportation large enough for 6 so we have to drive it unsafely without a headlight.

25 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2011

About a month ago, the headlights on the drivers side of my 2007 Outlook xr started experiencing intermittent operation. I tried to take it into the shop once, but by then they had come back on. A few weeks later, both of my headlights went out. This time, I had the shop look further into the problem. As it turned out, both of the headlight harnesses were completely melted and my mechanic reported that one even appeared to have caught fire. We had to pay to replace the headlight assemblies because there has not been a recall issued for our Outlook, even though I have seen online reports of this sort of problem. I was told that the new headlight assemblies are much sturdier and that this problem shouldn't reoccur, however, I feel that gm should have been the one to pay for the repair. Obviously there was an issue with the metal and/or wiring on the first headlight harnesses. I would like to see gm issue a recall on these and for us to be reimbursed for the cost we've already incurred.

26 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2011

My drivers side headlight went out. I purchased a new one and when I installed it, it did not work. I checked the connection more thoroughly and found the connector melted on one side. The copper connecter was black and the surrounding black plastic brittle and misshapen. You cannot replace the wire harness without removing the composite light fixture which looks like you need to remove the front bumper assembly. The average car owner would have a difficult time just replacing the low beam lamp. The high beam lamp requires disassembly. Of the composite headlamp unit. The wires are thin on the lighting harness and should be recalled. There are numerous reports of the same problem and gm needs to do something about it.

27 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2011

Driver side headlight works intermittently. Gm dealer instructed me that the wiring harness was broken at the plug where it plugs into the light socket. It seems that there are other owners experiencing the same problem and do not about this sight to file the complaint. I have read on other forums and know this for sure and if there is a problem then the national safety board should make a recall on the issue and have everyone's problem taking care of.

28 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2011

Low beam headlight bulbs burn out frequently. One line connector melted once. Recurring problem.

29 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2011

My low beam headlight stopped working July 25 2011, I put a new lamp in on August 7 2011 and four days later it want out again. After checking on line and checked the wiring harness and like everybody else my connector had melted away too. So now I have to find a replacement harness ?.

30 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

I have also have had some bad luck with the headlight wireing on my 2007 Saturn Outlook. So when will USA ran company gm stand up and admit that there is a problem. I can't beleave that so many have had issues with faulty wireing that could pose a fire hazzard and loss of headlight function for safety. Other than that issue I love this SUV. I love how we are all playing russian roulette with our famlies lives due to a faulty wire issue in the headlight to cause them to over heat and melt expossing the copper wire. Thanks gm for showing you care about your customers. . .

31 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2011

Headlight wiring harness failure.

32 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

Headlights of one side keeps flickering on and off. Sometimes they do not come on at all. Occurs everynight. We just bought the vehicle from steven Toyota on this past Saturday, 06/17/11, where they said they couldn't do anything to help us.

33 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

Passenger low beam headlight went out, and wiring was found to be melted, gm has not issued a recall after multiple failures,, and now wondering if driving this vehicle is safe as it could catch fire( wires getting hot enough to melt into).

34 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

Headlight wiring harness melted due to high current draw. Rendered headlight inoperable and could have caused larger fire. This seems to be a very common occurrence on Saturn Outlooks.

35 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2011

2007 Saturn Outlook, headlight wiring harness. I had my wiring harness replaced on 10/1/08 for the passenger side light and my driver side replaced on 5/10/10 and now my passenger side is out again. Headlight wiring harness' should last longer than two years. I have yet to get this replaced because it is costly to have to replace this often.
