Transmission slipping and high engine rev during commute from work to home. Could not get over 40 mph and had to take side streets home. Was fearful that it would not make it !.
While driving the transmission started slipping and had gone completely out. The cost to repair this will be around 3500 dollars. This is absurd considering how new the car is.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission began to slip gears with severe hesitation without warning. The vehicle failed to accelerate over 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who recommended that the transmission be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,365. Updated 2/11/cn according to the invoice, the reverse waveplate was broken. Updated 02/18/14.
Vehicle transmission slips when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear.
Vehicle was attempting to accelerate onto interstate highway. Transmission began to slip and buck causing the car to loose power dangerously in traffic. Turns out this is known problem with transmission 3-5-r wave plate breaking and occurs almost always around 70-100k mileage. Based on my research the wave plate breakage is not a question of if but when? I cannot fathom why gm would not get ahead of this problem. I cant believe issues like ignition get national attention but an issue like the transmission is overlooked.
Transmission slipped very badly switching from second to third gear. Thankfully was in a populated area close to home and was able to limp into a parking lot. Once put in park, would no longer shift out of park and had to be flat towed to a garage.
8/17/2011 - j0511 head, cylinder left bank replaced as there was excessive play in camshafts r & r motor assy replace bank 2 cylinder head and new timing chain re-installed. 01/11/2012 - 3-5 reverse clutch plate replaced transmission slipping into 3rd gear, transmission rebuilt. 02/20/2012 leak was found in front transmission connector area, seal was replaced & rechecked. On 12/01/2012 truck going back into shop for transmission leak again and clunking noise. Gm needs to resolve this problem with the transmission, they need to stand behind their product and go ahead and resolve this issue immediately.
I own a 2008 Saturn Outlook, since new vehicle has had a problem with the transmission. It over revs while in the passing mode and doesn't down shift until you completely take your foot off the gas. When accelerating sometimes it takes seconds before accelerating making it dangerous to merge into traffic. Recently it feels like the transmission is slipping when you accelerate to go a up a hill. I have taken it to the dealer numerous times and all they say is all the computer codes are correct and they can't duplicate the problem,so there's nothing wrong with the vehicle. I emailed Saturn this week and they stated they contacted the dealer and were told the codes are up to date and they are unable to duplicated the problem,so I accomplished nothing. I guess they'll wait until the transmission blows up or the vehicle is out of warranty before they take any action. From the blogs I have read on the internet this is a common problem with this vehicle and Saturn tells everyone the same thing. I feel this is a problem with the vehicle and the consumer is going to be stuck with the cost of repairs on this vehicle unless the us government intervenes. My vehicle only has 8,769 miles on it and the problem has been there since it was new.
