Electronic Stability Control Problems of Saturn Outlook - part 1

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the air bag, the traction control and the electronic stability control warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that after opening the liftgate with the power liftgate button, the liftgate fell and hit the contact's head. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. The contact sustained pain on the head, but did not required medical assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failures to NHTSA campaign numbers: 07v062000(air bags) and 15v415000(structure); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.

When it rains water is leaking into the vehicle & throughout the 2 years I've owned it the rain has leaked in multiple locations despite having it fixed & causes the wiring, lighting & detrimental/safety sensors & electrical parts to be damaged. I became especially worried when I learned a friend with a 2008 GMC acadia (identical vehicle to Saturn Outlook) is having the exact same water issues. Within a month or 2 of having the leaking and damaged fixed new sensors get wet & issues arise due to leaking in new/different locations. I first noticed it leaking in the front by the windows & sunroof & causing the radio speakers to quit. Within a short while after fixing it the headlights, tail lights & air conditioning then started cutting out & not working. Once again I had the issue fixed but now it is leaking in the dash where water can be heard sloshing around when turning & occasionally leaks into the front floor board. Now the �stabilitrak� & traction control are all having issues as well as transmission sensors making my car undrivable and unable to shift from second gear until the car sits in the sun or dries out for a few days. The speakers are also not working making the back up cam, and even the warning dash lights have no sound. ** as mentioned before there are many online forums that talk about this leaking issue in both the Saturn Outlook & GMC acadia�s. It is very worrisome that things will seem to work & suddenly stop working due to water log damage & when driving at night & headlights/tail lights flicker or quit it is very scary & dangerous. The serious issues with sensors (transmission sensors & stability) just began on my car recently & since I've had this issue fixed so many times it needs to be investigated further before someone gets hurt.

Purchased this vehicle and the air conditioning system doesn't work, owners manual says it is the exterior hvac sensor. After plenty of research have discovered it is a huge problem with the 2007 Saturn Outlook. Many complaints are of people replacing this sensor numerpus times only to have the sensor malfunction shortly after. It is suggested that the sensor be repositioned elsewhere on the vehicle. With 100+ temps and no way to cool this vehicle it is a danger to its occupants, especially being an 8 seater most likely to have small children in the back where the heat gets unbearable. Now that summer is hitting we can hardly drive too far because my 1 year old son turms bright red from the heat.

After I turn on my headlights they will be fine for a bit and then one will go out and sometimes the other will follow suit. It can be either if them. Sometimes I can turn the lights on and then off and it will come back on.

My 2008 Saturn Outlook xr leaks from the roof/sunroof and when it rains hard it has both the driver and passenger side gets soaked and down both sides of the top of the door frame headliner is soaked and also my floor board from both passenger and driver side are always wet.

Takata recall. I can not get gm dealership to correct my engine light toturn off and give a correct diagnostic. They have worked on my SUV serval times, they sell sell me parts and work than less than a month eng light comes back on. They try to sell me another car. Will not correct. Will not do diagnostic ( gm cars center request). Rt 24 shut down, tow to home.

Water is leaking into the vehicle cause electrical malfunctioning. Water is collecting into the battery compartment. Electrical problems caused by water include radio, lights; dashboard( shuts off for a few seconds then comes back on) and interior, door locks, stability track malfunction at which point the car will shake and shut itself off while being driven above 40 mph.

Baugbt the vehicle March 10 2019 no air bag cracked steering wheel sunroof leaks bad under glovebox fuse section has rust powder. Stero goes on and off only one key works to start one works to open door heater dont work im front. Baught in pueblo colorado only drive as far as walsenburg CO and back to pueblo n9 further bad gas millage.

Receiving message on dash display: engine power reduced, service stabilitrak, service traction control. Notice a sever drop in engine power and will practically not move if put in gear. Typically noticed when starting vehicle and pulling away. Can turn vehicle off for several minutes and issue is not experienced. (until the next time) there is no typical combination of events that happen before issue occurs, random. Have checked forums online and seems to be a common problem with this and other similar vehicles from gm (outlook, acadia, enclave, traverse).

When starting the stabilitrak light comes on and the buzzer goes off, then the check engine lights flickers off and on. This causes a rough idle like a misfire . I have had plugs and coil packs replaced as well as shocks and struts. Error still remains. Mechanic says one issue triggers the other. Have seen 100's of other similar complaints on full size gm trucks and other suvs. Hopefully soon a recall issue.

Issues with my Outlook alternator caught engine on fire, electrical issues with stabilizer/tracking controls, windows/mirror and mainly check engine light comes on while driving and transmission slips into low or 2nd gear. I had to pull to emergency lane and have vehicle towed twice. Dealer states its an issue with obd/obi codes and clears code. Vehicle continues to do this almost daily, weekly. Water leaks through sunroof, front window glass, under dash on feet of driver and passenger; water leaks via dvd system while driving and stationary. Alternator caught on fire while driving and I coasted into a driveway and lifted hood the flames started, fire dept. Contacted immediately to put out. Damage to vehicle wires, tubes, etc under hood. Passenger side front window and mirror will not push out of roll down due to electrical issue driving and stationary. Recall on struts for auto lift gate, but real issue is module to lift liftgate was a fee to be repaired. What did recall cover with lift gate? these issues happen no stop since 2012 when vehicle was purchased used. I drove on interstate and and check engine light came on, transmission went to low gear and I almost was hit because vehicle jerked when this happened and power/speed instantly dropped.

I pur hased this SUV from. Allmans in martinsburg wv early March of 2018. My service airbag stabil brakes all light come on. My axles are ready snap. While im drivi g my car dash lights will come on and my car will slow down automatically.

My Saturn 2008 engine light is flashing and my SUV is running bad, my airbag service light is on and my traction light is also on.

11/17/2016 replaced 2 transmission in two years within a few weeks after getting the car back from repair shop wife was driving to work on 12/16/16 the car stop running on the expressway. Dealer states throttle body was freezing do to condensation building up within throttle body stated this is common in these cars. Again got the car back after spending a ton more money getting it fixed had to take it right back engine light came back on within 20mi of driving. Don't waste you time buying these lemon cars.

The vehicle's on star system performed a diagnostic on the air bags and concluded that the air bags needed to be serviced. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 93,000.

The sun roof is defective causing water to enter into the frame of the car and causing electrical malfunction to the elctrical / pcm as well has caused numerous notifications on instrument panel also causing instrument panel to not light up while driving at night with no functions, turning off headlights as well this is a known issue via Saturn forums and youtube videos as well as TSB number of 07-08-57-002f. I feel very unsafe driving and this is my only vehicle. While driviving you can hear water moving around throughout the body of the car and there is also water in the doors have shorted out the speakers this is not normal wear and tear. My car also remains on when the key is in the off position.

"takata recall" having problems with stabilitrak affecting the brakes,transmission,and engine while driving on city street car now will not start.

While driving at 30 mph daah board lit up - engine power reduced - traction control go off and stabiltrak says it's off. I lost all power in car while driving including steering with kids in the car, and incoming traffic. Car would not restart immediately, it took 10 min. For it to start back up and dash lit up stating "starting disabled, service throttle". Taking to service repair - saw service. Bulletin for other models with same issues.

While driving in the rain all of a sudden my power steering went out and I was forced to manhandle my vehicle off the road and into a parking lot. Within a few minutes the steering came back and I was able to continue home. Along the way this happened twice more. Now the problem lights for stabilitrak service and traction off are both on.

The sunroof leaks when it is closed, and this is causing water to come in to the roof of the vehicle. Water is coming in from the front air bags, the windshield, under the dash, out of the garage door opener, the visor, and the back seat belts. I now have to replace the body control module which is related to the water damaging the unit. I am fearful the with the water getting in by the airbags that if I get into an accident they will malfunction. I have also been receiving messages about servicing the stabilitrac, but when I have had it looked at the mechanic can't find anything wrong, so this could also be related to the body control module.

On two occasions my car stopped driving while going around 40 to 55 mph. I was driving sometime the end of July 2015 when the car stopped without warning while going about 45 mph. The dash lights were on but all panels were on 0. It made a couple of thrusts then stopped. After a minute I put my foot on the gas and the car resumed driving. On August 8th while my husband was driving it going about 55 mph the car stopped again with no warning but finally a warning came on indicating a problem with the stabilitrak and then he was able to press the gas and the car started moving again. We will be making an appointment with dealership service center to find out what the problem is but from my research this seems to be a recurring problem. Thankfully no one was behind us both times or someone could of been seriously hurt. Please investigate this problem before someone does die.

Vehicle was traveling on highway dry pavement when rain condition came on suddenly. The vehicle begin to loose control and steering was sloppy when turning into skid. The vehicle then slid sideways hitting a ditch head on, at which time front air bags for passenger and driver failed to deploy at high impact, the vehicle then rolled three times with crush zones on the side and side impact or curtain bags failed to deploy. The roof, the side(s), and front were all crush impacted and with out deployment of safety measures. Lastly the on-star service failed to notify of crash for emergency dispatch and service was active. The antenna does not appear to of been crushed, and system should of alerted after frontal impact and failed. Complaints were lodge with federal ftc against the dealership for failures to address recalls for safety equipment, (bags, seat belts, transmission etc) also state of michigan sos division for automotive regulation (secretary of state) complaint was also filed when purchasing vehicle from dealership patsy lou of flint mi December 24th 2014. Occupants suffered spinal and neck injuries resulting fro roll over.

Driving in sub zero weather, I driving on the freeway when my car lost power and now I find out, it is something called "limp" mode. Car would not go more than 35 miles per hour and I had multiple warning lights coming one. How dangerous to be on the highway at 70 miles per hour see a check engine light come on and suddenly realize you have no power. Trying to get into the outer lane and get off the highway almost cost me my life. I was -20 degrees out that day. I found this listed on a web site, sound like gm knows there is a problem already. I work with a girl that has a acadia. She saw my facebook post about my car. She was also on the highway the same day I was and here car was doing the exact same thing my was. My right head light goes out, I have changed the bulbs too many times and the harness. My stability track comes on and I can loose power the first time I was traveling out of town on the highway, and by grace of god I was able to pull over. This car is becoming a nightmare and I think we should be given some kind of compensation. . . Please fix these issues. . . This is an ongoing problem for the last 3yrs.

The vehicle would not shift leaving me stranded - during a chicago snow storm. I'm being told that it's the transmission again - only now the power tran warranty has expired.

Bought this piece of crap car out of desperation from a pay as you go rip off car "dealership" who told me nothing about this cars faults and it's done nothing but bite me in the ass since then. Leaks like a stuck pig, causing water to pool at the floor mats, when its cole the inside of the windshield frosts. Headlights will both shut off while driving, battery died so I charged it then the radio went haywire. Opened up the battery terminal to find my battery was encased in ice due to the leaky sunroof, the battery was sparking and smoking. Windows won't go down all of a sudden. I can't wait to get rid of this car. Never again. So dangerous it's ridiculous.

The car caught on fire.

Recently having problems with the drivers side low beam headlight. When I took it in to the dealer to be looked at I was informed that the wiring harness had melted. To replace it will cost an upward of $400. Also having problems with the vehicles steering constantly squealing, not sure what is going on. And when going around turns the stability control makes a loud abrupt noise almost stopping the vehicle. I just can't believe all the problems I've been having with this vehicle in such the short amount of time I've owned it. I am a pregnant mother with 2 children already and I do not trust the safety of this vehicle!!.

Very scary. We went on a short vacation in PA and while we were going up a hill, my vehicle suddenly would not shift into gear. We were traveling about 27 mph and the engine rpm went to 7000. I have to quickly pull off the road and call for roadside assistance. Soon after this incident, the check engine light came on. We were towed to the local gas station and the mechanic said it's a transmission problem and would cost over a $1000. I went on the web did some research and found out that this gm module been having transmission problem and gm did absolute noting to resolve this. This is the first time I bough gm and it will be the last.

Approximately April of 2014 we had the first incident: while driving on the highway, at speed, the transmission seemed to "pop" into neutral (no change of gearshift lever, just engine revved). As the truck no longer had power, we managed (thank goodness) to get the truck to the shoulder avoiding highway traffic. Moved gearshift lever to park and then back to drive with no change - engine just revved as in neutral. Turned the truck off and called for a tow. While waiting for same, we turned the truck back on, and transmission seemed to function normally. Brought the truck to both wind gap Chevrolet (place of purchase) as well as an independent aamco - verdict was the same: broken "wave plate" and a new transmission was needed at a cost of over $3000. 00. Problem continues to this date. When we referenced the endless online complaints of same, gm was unmoved, although the power train warranty was still in effect. Very dangerous - lose power at highway speed with multiple close calls!!!! headlights: headlights, both low and high beam, continually burn anywhere from minutes to days after being replaced. Switch assemblies have been replaced, cannot get low beams to illuminate at times, then no headlights at times. Very dangerous. Again, endless online complaints of the same issue. Sunroof: endless issues with the sunroof leaking and soaking the floorboards on both drivers and passenger sides. Taken to wind gap Chevrolet, told we need to have sunroof replaced. Again, endless online complaints of the same issue. Based online and on this NHTSA site: it seems that these are serious and dangerous issues with this vehicle!!!!! recent headlight recall on similar vehicles for the same issue. Why is this vehicle not recalled for transmission/power train and headlight issues!?!?.

I was driving on the highway going 70 miles/hr and the chime went off and engine power is reduced and service stabilitrak traction control off flashed on my display as well as the check engine light. I started to lose power and cars were swerving around me with the sudden loss of speed and I was lucky I was not hit by another car. By the time I got over to the shoulder of the road I was going 40 miles/hr with the gas pedal pushed all the way down. The problem was diagnosed by a gm dealership as a timing chain issue. When I looked online it seems many people have had problems with the same issue. Gm has informed me there was a recall for the 2007 Saturn Outlook and the 2009 Saturn Outlook but my 2008 Saturn Outlook was not under the same recall even though nothing is different in the 2008 from the 2007 or 2009, it has the same engine and the same timing chain that qualified the other years recalls.

Jan 2014 had problems with stabilitrac / traction control and transmission entering expressway. The stabilitrac / traction control service soon light came on and then the car began shifting hard as we began to enter traffic, the car then started to lose power we got off the expressway in fear of being hit and went to the dealer were they found nothing wrong. The car continued to do this on and off for some time for the next few months. In June 2014 coming home from a soccer game I my wife our son and another player had this happen again while traveling 70mph on the us23 expressway, stabilitrac / traction control service light came on transmission started shifting hard and then the transmission lost the ability to engage, the car began to slow almost getting hit. (thank god we made it to a safe place) we replaced the transmission because of broken wave plates within the transmission. On 3/7/15 took car in again for stabiltrac / traction control same thing again is happening dealer found nothing wrong told us to bring back when lights are on. 3/14/15 lights came on again took in dealer was unable to find anything wrong. Service adviser there was no danger driving the car but that I might after time begin to loss power and may not be able to travel over 20mph. I explained the history to him his advice was to avoid the expressways. My fear is to die in this car when merging into expressway traffic. After reviewing many compliants about the transmission and traction control / stabilitrac on the internet about the following cars Saturn Outlook, GMC acadia, chevy traverse and Buick enclave I hope that gm can come up with a fix before anyone has to die!.

Our Saturn Outlook has had problems that have accumulated more recently that include the steering box failing (audible popping when near neutral steering position), the electronic stability control and brake simultaneous lights with feedback in the brake pedals (even when abs is not active), and a very annoying weather/water leak from an unknown source that is soaking the passenger carpet after every single rain. None of these items were covered under warranty, and I'm returning the car for the second time tomorrow to the dealership to investigate the leak (again) and the stability control. I already replaced the steering box, out of pocket, for over $1000. We just paid the car off and bought it new in 2008. It barely has 50,000 miles on it, and this is not a quality product. The ride, handling, interior features/space are outstanding, but there are too many faults for such a new(er) car. I also replaced the water pump a few months ago, but that was at the tail end of my warranty (now expired). After only 5 years and 50,000 miles, I'm looking at expensive monthly payments for a new vehicle to replace what should have lasted at least another 5 years comfortably without major defects. It's no wonder Saturn went out of business and that gm has nearly failed so many times. . .

Stabilitrak traction control turned off, warning beeps came with a message saying oil pressure low, shut engine off. This is one of many issues I have encountered, among getting a new engine after buying it in 2010 6 months later, because of wave plate issues, timing chain problem, the lift gate not functioning, my husband spent $23k on the car and since then we have put thousands more into the car to have it fixed. Feel unsafe in it an disgusted at how many times I have to get it serviced.

While driving my car, I noticed the stabiltrak error message on the dash and a message to get my brakes serviced. I thought it would go away, but keep coming up. Took the car into the dealership and have to have the stabiltrak replaced. I have looked online and noticed that this is an issue with a lot of people. Seems like it should be looked into by gm. Can cause major problems with the car like turning over!.
