Tl the contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the transmission intermittently would not shift out of gear and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated and there was an abnormal noise coming from the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to kool Chevrolet Buick GMC (810 w chicago rd, sturgis, mi) where it was determined that the sensor in the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer regarding the air bag warning indicator and it was diagnosed that the passenger seat was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
The passenger airbag turns off and on regardless if a person (adult) is sitting in the seat or not. This has been happening for about three months now. I contacted the dealer and they said that it was not a recall item nor would it be a safety issue. I feel that if I am in an accident and the air bag does not deploy that the passenger could be in imminent harm at the fault of gm. They will not replace the sensor unless there is a recall. This is a very common problem with several other vehicles as reported on multiple online vehicle owner forums. Gm needs to do the right thing and protect their customers from faulty equipment.

Takata recall, I have an issue just like everyone else complaining about their front passenger seat airbags faulty sensor and I contacted the dealer to have them checked it and told me to pay 1k to replace the seat sensor. . . I believe just like many people said it supposed to be a recall for that issue because it's related to an safety issue please take this serious situation and we all hope to get a recall for our cars before we get injured thank you best regards.
Seat sensor keeps going on and off with or without someone in the passenger seat. I have tried calling dealers, Saturn-gm but have gotten no help with the resolution of this defect. They say that it is a defective sensor but according to a lot of forums this is a well known issue and this should be a safety defect not just a recall. This technically could hurt or kill someone in an accident and they have known about this. If something happens while driving this vehicle I will take this as high as I can take it. This has been happening for at least 6 months.
Passenger airbag will intermittently not enable with adults (>120 lbs) in front passenger seat. Prior recall for connector under seat was completed when issued. Dealer diagnosis of code for "passenger presence" module fail, with recommendation of replacement of passenger presence seat ass'y at cost of $960 - not yet completed. Elevated to gm customer assistance. Appears to be a chronic, ~500 ppm issue on the 2007-2008 model years of the gm lambda platform (Saturn Outlook, GMC acadia, and Buick enclave). Research of NHTSA complaints against posted sales quantities shows that this issue continues into 2015 for the 2007-08 models, with virtually no issues for 2009 and newer model year vehicles.
I was driving my 2007 Saturn Outlook when the power steering went out and I went off the road hitting a culvert head on. The frontal air bags failed to deploy. The driver seat on impact broke off of the frame of the vehicle. The only thing that saved my life was my seatbelt. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and after they hooked it up to their diagnostics, they found that there was a mistake in the sensor codes. The code showed that the vehicle rolled over. The vehicle never did roll over whatsoever. Also the power steering pump was defective and later a recall came out informing owners of this. After research I found that previously there was a recall for a defective air bag module. This had been replaced. However the airbag still did not deploy during the front impact collision.
The service air bag light stays illuminated on dash and the passenger air bag is off even if somebody is seating in the passenger seat . This has been happening for at least 18 months.
When a passenger is seating in the front seat, the air bag light indicator will say off instead of on.
The passenger side seat sensor for the airbag intermittently does not recognize that a person is sitting there. In the case of an accident the airbag will not deploy. This has occurred randomly for several years. I see another complaint for this issue as well.
I purchased a 2008 Saturn Outlook used at approximately 65,000 miles. The passenger air bag sensor had difficulties right off the bat. The gm service department looked at it and after glancing briefly at the computer monitor, it looked like the previous owner had many issues with the airbag sensor, too. They said it was probably something with where my son was sitting in the seat (17 year old boy). The sensor would go on and off intermittently. After some time, the air bag warning light came on. I took it to the dealership again a few months ago and they said I needed to replace the entire sensor for about $1,200. I was unable to do that (also thinking that it would fail again). So, we are driving around with what appears is no passenger side airbag. There have been various service bulletins for the airbag issue and numerous online complaints. I think that this warrants a recall.
Electric driver's seat on 2007 Saturn Outlook is broken and no longer moves forward, it is broken in the farthest back position. I can barely reach the pedals and my foot has slipped off the gas and the brake several times while driving. I took the car into Saturn and they said it would be $645. 00 to repair. I don't believe the seat should have broken so soon (or at all), 3 years old with 54,000 miles on car. I filed a complaint with general motors and they did their investigation (if you call it that) and said they would not pay for repairs, or even give me a discounted price on the repair.
Since I leased this vehicle, I have had to return it to the dealership a total of 6 times. My vehicle has been out of service for repairs for approximately 20 calendar days. The current mileage on my vehicle is 18,654. My vehicle has had problems with steering, transmission, and the electric seat, but the main reason that the vehicle was brought in for repair on each of the six visits is as follows: when raining, water appears in the following locations: (a) passenger side, 2nd column; (b) passenger side, directly below glove compartment; (c) passenger side, floor area; (d) passenger side door, floor area directly below door; (e) passenger side windshield, dropping from top of windshield area onto dashboard; (f) passenger side seatbelt -- completely soaking wet; (g) passenger side airbag plug, water dripping out from edges; (h) driver side seatbelt; (I) driver side window. Please note that this does not happen each and every time it rains; it happens every 2 to 4 times it rains. The last time it was brought in to Saturn, smoke was pouring out from below the glove compartment and there was a very bad "electrical" type of smell. The headliner has been removed a couple of times; they have verified that there is dampness and a water leak above the headliner, but they cannot replicate or determine the source of the leaking. The dealership has informed that at this point they can do nothing further to determine the source of the leak. They state that an engineer from Saturn must look at the vehicle to attempt to determine the problem. I have written to Saturn and they are sending someone out to look at it next week. If it cannot be repaired, I am instituting lemon law proceedings. The car reeks of mildew.
