One problem related to blown head gasket has been reported for the 1996 Saturn SC. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Head gasket blown, head cracked, engine oil and coolant mixing. This is a well known manufacturer's defect. Saturn says they will not cover the expenses as I am out of the warranty period (6 years or 100,000 miles).
