Sun roof rails, after a great deal of research I have found the clips that the sunroof runs along to raise and return the window to its closed position, are defective. The company's answer to this problem is to sell you a very expensive replacement kit in which most of the parts are not even necessary. This is such a common problem with the clips, that there are actually company's that sell the parts around this problem that sell non defective replacement parts that permanently fix the problem.

I bought my car from the medford Saturn dealership, a 2001 Saturn Sc2. I have never been in an accident with this vehicle. I have only put slightly less then 20,000 miles on this vehicle. The problem is that my sun roof that is only 4 years old is broken because of a defective part of the plastic gliders. I took my car to Saturn and they refused to fix their defect and wanted over a thousand dollars to fix it. They also looked under my hood and told me I had other things wrong with the car that they would fix for another 995. 00 dollars. Oh, and if I wanted my sun roof fixed they would give me a deal but only if I had this other supposed work done their at the Saturn dealership in medford, oregon. I was very upset and the manager would not speak to me. Then they refused to give me a copy of the estimate to fix the sunroof and other supposed problems. I was then told to call a special customer service number and they would help. Upon calling this number I was told I should have spoken with the service manager befor calling this number they gave me. I again never talked to the manager but the same guy I originally dealt with at the dealership. Then back to the customer service person who was no help and again said they would cut me a deal but only if I had other work done first and they wanted 995. 00 dollars for it and the sunroof to be repaired. I refused and they were no help. Upon further investigation on my own I have looked on the internet for other people with the same problems regarding Saturn sun roof and found more then I wanted. Help what do I do? can you help me regarding the defective sun roof.

The sun roof failed, and to have it fixed cost 1200 dollars. I contacted Saturn of cary and Saturn customer assistance at 18005536000 and talked to peggy. She said since it was not fixed at a Saturn dealer they would not consider it. I told her of my previous experience with my previous Saturn burning up all by itself, after they replaced a valve cover gasket, and the car being totaled. They did nothing about that, either. I had the sun roof fixed by techniquest of cary, who suggested I get Saturn to help me with the cost of this, as 1200 dollars to repair this, and Saturn surprizingly keeping plenty of this items in stock, point ot a problem Saturn does not want to admit to. Sunroof failed to close when it started to rain. . . . Took to Saturn to be looked at and they told me it was the cables. . . They then told me it would cost $954. 00 to fix, the sunroof has barely been used on this car, as I have been the only owner and would know, it seems ridiculous that it would break after only a few uses, seems more like a defective part. Because the sunroof is stuck partially open it caused water damage to the slider, and I have to push it down every time I get into or out of the car.

The transmission was very hard to shift into 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, very hard to get into 1st gear from a complete stop almost impossible. The sunroof has stuck open to about 10 times, it has never seated into the roof correctly the back sticks up about a 1/4 inch in the rear of the sunroof expecially the driver side rear corner they said they completly replaced it but it still will not seat completly. The brakes make a whining sound all the time. ( dot number: tire size: 19560r15 ).
