Two problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 1997 Saturn SL. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The whine noise was heard from the engine diagnostics indicated that the coolant pump was leaking and the serpentine belt had failed.
Cylinder head failure between lubrication ports and cooling system, resulting in contamination of cooling system with oil.
