Ignition Module problems of the 2002 Saturn SL

Two problems related to ignition module have been reported for the 2002 Saturn SL. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

The contact owns a 2002 Saturn Sl. After parking the vehicle and returning twenty minutes later, the ignition key would not turn and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

2 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2009

The contact owns a 2002 Saturn Sl. Whenever the contact starts the vehicle, the ignition control module fails and the ignition will not start. She had new keys made, but this did not correct the issue. During the failure, the check engine indicator remains illuminated and will not dim. The failure has been occurring for over a year. The contact must wiggle the keys for at least fifteen to thirty minutes before the vehicle will start. The dealer has not been notified. The failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 3/19/09 the consumer also stated the engine idles very high. Over 4000 rpm/ updated 03/25/09.
