1 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 2000 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 03/04/2002

Vehicle stopped moving while driving. Dealer notified and informed consumer that train axle had to be replaced. Vehicle would pop and jerk into gear at 40 mph, dealer could not duplicate problem, dealer found valve body severely contaminated, torque converter metal contaminated, dealer replaced valve body and torque converter housing, replaced complete transaxle. Vibration experienced while driving over 65 mph due to all four tires being out of balance. Consumer states there is a noise when braking.

2 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 1998 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 07/08/2001

While pulling into a parking space, stepped on the brakes, which failed. Car struck the crub and a railing causing the airbags to deploy and the seatbelts to lock very tight. Two days prior to purchasing the brakes were squeaking.

Failure Date: 06/01/2000

Warped rotor after 6 months of ownership was replaced by dealer, all brakes replaced in June 2000.

At approox. 25mph approaching an intersection, pressed the brakes which traveled to the floor, repaired the problem.

Failure Date: 04/04/2000

During a left turn driving at 15 to 20 miles per hour, attempting to slow the vehicle down, the brake pedal traveled its entire range without slowing or stopping the car. The brakes where then pumped several times without success, the car was eventually stopped by use of the parking brake.

Failure Date: 01/15/2000

Consumer had brakes resurfaced three times. Dealer was saying that consumer was applying brakes too hard. Brakes weren't warranty. Dealer replaced it as a courtesy to the consumer, and not under warranty.

Failure Date: 09/16/1998

While driving along on a damp drawbridge, proceeded to put on brakes then the car plowed into the vehicle in front between 50 to 60 feet stopping distance. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

Failure Date: 08/29/1997

Upon approaching an intersection and facing a red light, attempted to slow down, but foot slipped and stepped on gas pedal, vehicle lost control, resulting in 2 collisions/injuries. Also brakes failed to stop vehicle.

10 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 1997 Saturn SL1

I had to have constant servicing done w/car in shop over a 1 yr period for up to 1 wk @ a time w/ failure in systems listed brakes & tires not covered w/warranty though only 4 months after purchase anothe dealer serviced car orig. Dealer would not. (tiresize: 175-75-14)( dot number: tire size: 175-75-14 ).

11 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 2002 Saturn SL1

Automatic transmission not able to shift into low gear while descending steep grade/mountain roads. Brakes are scorched due to excessive pedal application, and controlling vehicle is with difficulty. Please describe details.

12 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 1996 Saturn SL1

Brake failure when coming to a stop. Brake pedal went to the floor car was very slow to stop. After the first failure brake shop was unable to find a problem with the brake system. The second failure was at the same speed 35 m/h with the brake pedal having the same action. Saturn was unable to find problem the second time and tested it two times.
