Ignition Problems of Saturn SL1

Saturn 2001 ion ignition - car won't start because key won't turn this is a known problem with Saturns and is a bad safety issue. People are stranded with vehicles that won't start or sometimes even turn off. This is awful, and Saturn knows about it, and gm is asking for a bailout? this should be a recall. If government won't force a recall on known issues, the company winds up going extinct due to poor quality issues. Recall this!.

The contact owns a 2002 Saturn Sl1. Whenever the contact attempts to turn on the vehicle, the ignition will not turn to the start position. The contact stated that it takes 5-10 minutes of attempting to turn on the vehicle before the ignition would turn. The contact did not notice any differences in the vehicle prior to the failure. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current mileage was 103,787 and failure mileage was 87,000.

While trying to start the car with the key it will not turn the ignition to start the car. A recall was issued on the same component but for a different model car. Dealer has fixed problem, butcaller has to pay for it. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

I was parked at a shopping center, when I turned my car on, it would not start. After trying a couple of times,it made a pop sound and smoke flooded inside the car. I turned off the key, took it to a dealer and they could not find anything wrong with it. The windows would not work as well. I replaced the fuse for the windows, and the car started, but now only the drivers side window works.

Ignition will not always turn out of lock posistion. You have to fight with it to get it to turn.

The ignition cylinder in the steering column jammed for no apparent reason. It required the car to be towed to the dealership; the entire ignition cylinder/lock assembly had to be replaced. The mileage on the car was only 47,616 miles.

2001 Sl1 Saturn.

The contact owns a 2000 Saturn Sl1. The contact stated that the ignition would malfunction. The key would not turn or release out of the ignition. Occasionally, the vehicle would stay on with the key out of the ignition. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure persists. The current mileage was 98,000 and failure mileage was 12,000.
