Engine problems of the 1996 Saturn SL2

Two problems related to engine have been reported for the 1996 Saturn SL2. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2007

I am losing a lot of oil. I spoke with my mechanic he stated that a lot of times it is the valve cover gasket, so he changed it. The car is still losing a lot of oil. About a quart every 400 miles. I started researching on my own and have found that several Saturn owners are complaining about the same issue.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 06/10/1999

Vehicle lunges when put in reverse and gears aren't shifting correctly, dealer replaced valve body.
