Front Seat Recliner problems of the 1997 Saturn SL2

Three problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 1997 Saturn SL2. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 09/15/1998

I was struck in the rear of my car which caused both front bucket seats to snap to a full recline position. As a result of laying flat on my back I could not take any evasive action. Both front airbags deployed upon impact. I have suffered severe back injuries.

2 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 10/03/1997

Seat back failed in rear end collision passenger seat reclined into rear passenger compartment.

3 Front Seat Recliner problem

Failure Date: 09/15/1997

At a dead stop another vehicle hit from the rear, and both front seatbacks collapsed. Contacted dealer and manufacturer.
