Three problems related to trunk lid have been reported for the 1998 Saturn SL2. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Spring that holds trunk open is too weak, most noticeable with factory installed spoiler. Has hit me in the head several times. Dealer sugested prop-rod to hold trunk open. Trunk will not stay open if parked on small incline or slight headwind. If a child was reaching into the truck, it could severly injure there back.
Doors out of alignment causing persons to slam the doors for them to latch.
When the truck lid is raised in rainy weather, water drips into luggage compartment due to design.
