general problems of the 2003 Saturn VUE

2003 Saturn Vue ignition switch. The switch was replaced under a recall with a switch that has the same defect; the key can be removed while the vehicle is in operation. The dealers refuse to replace it saying the car had the recall completed. They do not acknowledge the replacement has the same problem as the original. I feel they are required to do a second replacement under the recall if it the same problem -- a dangerous one at that. Ai shows a number of the replacement key switches were defective like the originals. Can you help me?.

My keys come out of the ignition , I keep having electrical failures and my pipes keep messing up.

My Saturn accelerates all by itself. I'm not touching the gas pedal & my car just starts moving at a high speed & just gets faster. I have to hold my foot on the breaks & downshift to slow it down so I don't crash into someone or something. What would cause that to happen. It just started doing this 2 weeks ago & is still doing it ! please give me advice on what to do to fix this problem before it's to late. I have to drive to dialysis 3-4 days a week, & it's the only car I own. Thank you, carolyn chrisco.

Drove my car to a friend's and when I had to leave my car would not go forward. Or backwards and I was in the middle of on coming traffic. Couldnt check transmission fluid there isn't a dip stick. So lucky I had someone with me to push it back to my friends.

Driving was rough, which sounds like wheel bearings in left wheel. I had it checked only to find out no strainer, had to replace transmission? I'm in limbo. I just bought this vehicle from a lady an hour and half away. Nice looking vehicle but bad transmission!.

My Saturn just stopped cranking battery in key chain went dead and had to change it. Now I need the programming codes so I can synchronize the transmitter w/receiver please help me I've had nothing but problems with it shutting down all electrical power system.

Car starts, however check engine, brake, service light all come on. Power stearing does not work, nor does rear wiper. Have in past been able to reset the issue by pulling and replacing fuses which solves issue temporarily. However that fix no longer working. Also, need to wrench hard on stearing wheel to be able to start ignition. Once on, able to remove key while vehicle is still running.

The security system locked the steering, where you could not drive it. It happen twice in 2 weeks and took forever to get off. Now scared to drive it. You do not know if you going to make home. Had to have it towed once.

I just purchased my 2003 Saturn Vue a month ago and a day after I got it the vehicle started shutting off while driving!! sometimes it cranks right back up and then other times I have to just let it slowly roll to the side of the road so that I can crank it back up! I have my two children that ride in my car with me and if this doesn't get fixed it will probably end up killing all three of us! obviously this is a common issue so something needs to be done!!.

Occasionally there has been a line of smoke coming from my steering column when I start the car. Now my windshield wipers will not turn off unless I remove the fuse. I am concerned about a fire and will be getting it fixed, however I have read of other Saturn owners having this same problem. So I know mine is not the only car out there to have this problem.

To whom it may concern: my name is eddie javelosa, owner of Saturn Vue 2003. My check engine lights stays on, had it diagnosed cost me $60. 00 to have it removed. In order for me to pass the smog test need to drive it for 50 miles then check engine lights stays off. But, after a day check engine lights goes back on again. My ignition key can be removed while the engine is running. I have contacted GMC already and they're not willing to fix the car, because it's not part of the recalls. Something has to be done here or are we waiting for an accident to happen? hope you reconcider my vehicle as part of the recall before it's all too late. My 16 year old daughter drives this car to get to school on a daily basis. Thank you, eddie.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. I have had it for three years bought it used. Before the recall my car started having problems with the key coming out of the ignition while the car is on. When I heard about the recalls on the cars I reached out to gm and told them that I know my car is not in the recall but I think it should be because it is having the same problem. They contacted me gave me via email and gave me a service request number. I went to a dealer by me which they contacted. I had the car inspected and the dealer did in fact state that it should be replaced. I then recontacted gm told them what they said and told me they would get back to me in a few days. Never happened. After three weeks of waiting and not hearing from them I contacted them via email last Friday. I finally received a voice mail this past Monday stating that they could not help me which I know I told them I knew. They also said due to the age of my vehicle and the warranty would have been up years ago they could not do anything for me at this time. I was furious and called back left a message stating that the age of my vehicle has nothing to do with the problem at hand and that with all the attention they have been getting I threatened to go to the media. My car has only 50000 miles on it, runs great but has this problem and I do not feel safe driving it. They still told me sorry can't help. When I bought the car used it did not do this at all. I have noticed on safercar. Com there are many complaints about this with no resolution. I feel since gm knew about the problem in 2003,the year by the way my car was built that they should add 2003 Saturn Vue's to the recall list.

The Saturn Vue has a low mileage and the car has transmission problems and this is very alarming, the car will overheat and does not want to drive at all.

This vehicle has stopped a few times at a stop light, also when sitting idle it wont start sometimes.

We have had the car not start a couple of times. When the key is put into the ignition on our Vue the car doesn't want to turn over. After taking it to a dealer the car was found to be sending improper signals to the engine that shut off the fuel pump and wouldn't allow the car to start. It seemed that switching the key out to the second key that came with the car it was fixed but on 02/25 the same issues started again and the car will start and run fine once it decides to turn on. After seeing the recall informtion from gm I believe the issue we have is the precursor to they ignition issue with the other 2003-2007 models of Saturns.

Vehicle continually dies as driving down the road at any rate of speed. The ignition switch and cylinder have both been replaced with no success. Also, new battery installed. Vehicle still continues to stall at any rate of speed.

My key sometimes won't go into igniton and once it does, it sometimes falls out while I am driving or the car loses power while I'm driving. Is this problem a part of the gm recalls for 2003 Saturns ??.

On 4 occasions,. . . I went to open my drivers' side door. It would not open. I had to roll my window down (power windows) to open the door from the outside. I took my vehicle back each time,. . . It works for a few days,. . . Then I cannot open the door from the inside. At one point this week,. . My window got stuck,. . And I could not get my arm thru it to reach the outside door handle to get out of my vehicle. This is a death trap !!!!! northeast auto/credit (bhph) refuses to trade me out of this.

My car kept cutting off and wouldn't start. So I took it to the dealer I purchased it from and they replaced the ignition sensor in it. . Now it sometimes don't want to crank, they claim there is nothing wrong with it and thy cant figure it out.

The transmission of this vehicle has caused a class action lawsuit already, but they are still being sold with these horrible transmissions. I bought my 2003 Vue less than two weeks ago and while I was driving around to run errands my transmission would not go in gear in order to drive. It would go in reverse, but not forward.

My 2003 Saturn Vue stalls and dies everyday that I drive it. Has almost caused myself and young children to get into many wrecks from this problem occurring often at stop lights and middle of intersections and hills. I have researched this many times has fairly new trans. And new timing belt also put on before I purchased the Saturn. To me this car is dangerous and has few other problems also, like idling high when in park. When the stalling occurs it stalls an the security light comes on and flashes 3 times before it either dies or continues back to normal before it stalls again. I cannot drive it to my next town over without it doing this numerous times. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone and that's one reason why im afraid to sell it because I would hate to put someone else in this dangerous car and them not know how to control it if this happens.

The car would hesitate intermittently while driving and would not move forward. Also on September 24, 2012 the car would not start, just crank, eventually it did start and I took it to libertyville Chevrolet, libertyvile, ilinois, for service and they replaced the faulty ignition switch. I believe the scope of the general motors recall should be expanded to include this make and model. I have notified general motors and received a case number, 71-1314523127.

Motor transmission fails to move forward or backwards even though engine starts fine.

Horn starting sounding off, kept sounding until battery died. Horn switch is in the steer wheel and connected to the airbag. Only way to fix is by having horn fuse in plugged. This is a major safety issue.

Takata recall the air bag is being inflated and making the horn go off nonstop and I have to drive with the fuse for the horn taken out. To prevent from either the horn going off and exploding while I drive to work or etc. . . I have had the horn replaced a few years ago and the problem is worse again especially with the summer heat in georgia.

This vehicle while going down the road the engine just cuts off, doesn't matter the speed you are traveling. It will start back up automatically but you loose speed . . It even cuts off when pulling away from stoplights and into traffic, then you have to put it in neutral and restart the engine. No mechanic can figure it out.

Transmission problem: we were driving about 45 miles per hour and transmission started bucking and engine completely shut down -- was not getting any acceleration and would not go. We waited about 10 minutes and restarted the engine and continued on. Since then this problem has been repetitive through today, July 10, 2014.

I own a 2003 Saturn Vue and the ignition keeps locking up on me. The only way to get it to work is to giggle the key. This has been going on for over a year. Now the key will not turn in the ignition at all and the car has to be towed and repaired. My father has the same year make and model and has had the same problem. He had it fixed and it has started all over. Saturn should stop putting faulty parts in all of their autos.

Ignition locks up and cannot turn to start car. Can loosen up by wiggling steering wheel ,gear shift or key. Has been happening for years but complaints were ignored. Now hearing about gm's ignition recall . I'm very concerned.
