1 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

My cars hubcaps have fell off several times and j can't find a size that fits 2 of them so I don't have any. My ignition switch gets stuck while parked and I've been locked out if my car several times. There are times where it won't turn at all and I have to lock the steering wheel and try to jiggy the key forever. The key doesn't turn all the way to the off switch and the key can be removed while driving. Now my passenger side door won't up. I use the key to unlock the door and the thing pops up but the door won't open and since I only have one door with a key hole all the other doors stay locked as well. So I've spent hundreds on locksmiths or I have to keep pulling the handle or banging on the door or my husband pushes the door an shakes the entire car. This is embarrassing and frustrating as well as dangerous since j can't lock my doors. Sometimes when I leave the doors unlocked they lock on their own after I walk away. I have to crawl through the passengers side door to get in when the drivers door won't open. This car has a mind of its own!.

2 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2016

I was stranded several times by the ignition switch refusing to turn or engage to start the engine. I checked recall notices and noticed that other years, like the 2004, had received recall notices to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced. I never received a recall and I would like to know if I missed a recall notification. I had to pay $332. 30 (including labor) in July, 2016 to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced, including having the lock cylinder rekeyed to my original keys. My mechanic told me he had just had another person in the previous week with the exact same issue. Is there any recourse for me?.

The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Rg.

5 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

The date and mileage I entered are approximate. For several months, I have been able to remove the key from the ignition switch when the key is in the run position. At times, I have turned off the ignition and removed the key; and then had difficulty inserting the key the next time I went to use the vehicle. The key slot position is not in the off position, but in the run or accessory position. This seems like it could lead to a problem if the key should come out of the switch when I am driving. I assume I would be surprised, and instinctively reach to pick up the key. This could lead to an accident while I was distracted looking for the key. I believe this is not acceptable, and gm should replace the defective ignition switch.

6 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the ignition switch became inoperable sporadically. The problem occurred numerous of times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

7 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2013

I thought I received a recall notice about the ignition switch. When I'm driving along, it's possible to pull the key out of the ignition, and that shouldn't happen! when stopped, the key can also be pulled completely out before the ignition switch has come to the off position. It is very hard to then get the key back in.

8 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ignition would move without the key being inserted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

9 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

Ignition switch would not turn - dealer pulled ignition tumbler, vaccumed the socket where a pile of metal shavings were seen inside the socket, inserted old tumbler, cut a new key and charged 75 dollars. 12 months later, same problem. I had a new key cut, and the ignition switch turns like it should. Does my car have a potential ignition switch risk???? as gm describes for a lot of other cars my daughters 2004 Saturn Vue v6, had the same problem, and three keys later she sold it and bought a new car.

10 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

It is impossible to turn the stuck ignition switch on to start the engine. Is more of a problem in hot weather.

11 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

This has to with the ignition switch. For at least the last two years and maybe longer I have had problems with my ignition switch. The key will get stuck and not move in the ignition. Therefore I cannot start the car. Not good if you need to go somewhere or are trying to leave somewhere. Also, I have the reverse problem, I will try to turn the car off and the key will not "switch" all the way to the release point, therefore causing me to often have to take the key out of the ignition a full stop before it is truly off. This of course is troublesome the next time I start the car because I have to try and work the key first back to the initial ignition position and then start the car as you would normally. Also, I can pull the key out of the ignition going anywhere from 0 - 65 mph down the street / highway with the car obviously in drive. I can have the car in park and running and pull the key out of the ignition and the car will continue to run / operate as if the key was still in the ignition (obviously not safe). Saturn / gm, you state that you care about the safety of your customers, whom by the way, entrust themselves and their children to gm cars. Please do the correct thing and immediately include Saturn Vue 2006 owners in the ignition switch recall who clearly have an ignition switch problem as well.

12 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

I am the 2nd owner of my Saturn Vue 2006. Since I acquired the vehicle I have been able to remove the key while the vehicles running, stationary or driving, in-gear or not. I've always thought of this as a unique feature (it's been surprisingly helpful!). Today I saw something about a "gm ignition switch recall" (no, I don't live under a rock, I just missed this). I entered my VIN and it didn't come back with a recall associated with it, so this might not even be an issue? I just want to be certain in case this is a dangerous "feature". Thank you for checking for me!.

13 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. When the vehicle was started, the key disengaged from the ignition. In addition, when the vehicle was turned off, the key failed to disengage from the ignition. The dealer stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

14 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact turned the key in the ignition and a fire ignited. The fire department responded and extinguished the flames. In addition, the headlights became dim and the doors on the vehicle were unable to be locked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 79,200.

15 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2010

Ignition switch is difficult to operate, added graphite lubricant but only partial relief. Other models of same year having same problems. Gm should recall and replace switch.

16 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2009

2006 Saturn Vue ignition switch turns extremely hard most of the rime when trying to start the car. I can also remove the ignition key when the key is not in the 'off' position. I have been told the reason it turns so hard is because it's a safety mechanism. I have to rock the key back and forth for a couple of minutes, sometimes. Other times, I only have to rock it once or twice. I can feel it 'catching' and not wanting to move past the off position. Being able to remove the key without it being in the 'off' position is a safety issue. The key has always turned hard sine I purchased the car in 2009. It has gotten much worse in the last six months. This happens whether I am parked on a city street, or any other place including inclines and declines, my driveway, etc. The ignition is in the off position and I am trying to start it when it turns extremely hard.

17 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

The ignition switch will not turn with the factory key to start the ignition. The key has to be jiggled, and/or removed and reinserted several times for this to start the vehicle.

18 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2007

Multiple occurrences of keyed ignition switch locking up and no allowing vehicle operation (more than 6). Thank god there was no emergency necessitating immediate use of our vehicle. Just episodes of being late to work and getting home from work. Finally the vehicle as towed to the dealer. We were informed this was known issue with the Saturn Vue. But there was no recall they manufacturer just lets its customers swing in the wind until it fails for good presumably they think they are saving money but not so if they are on the hook for the towing while under warranty. Which is why they manufacturer's failure to notify owners and recall for this problem is inexcusable!.

19 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated the ignition key would not turn properly or remain secure when positioned in the ignition switch. While driving on two separate occasions the key had fallen out of the ignition switch without intent. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the ignition switch lock needed to be replaced. The lock cylinder had been previously replaced in may of 2007. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

20 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2006

2006 Saturn Vue, vehicle doors would not open, engine miss fired, then shut off. Towed to dealer, dealer stated bad battery. . . . . . Second time vehicle same thing just shut off. . . . Also ignition key entry sticks when trying to start vehicle, dealer said to have replaced but still sticks when trying to turn to start. . . . .

21 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2006

#1. Ignition switch failure. Key gets stuck in ignition switch, causing the key to not be able to be turned or to be removed. #2. Steering is vague and hard to keep pointed in one direction, possibly due to the use of electronic steering. Also; the car sways profoundly over uneven surfaces, due to the suspension design. This lack of suspension design integrity, coupled with the use of electronic steering causes the vehicle to operate in an unsafe manner,(causing the vehicle to meander from side to side, often into other lanes of traffic, unless the driver is constantly correcting the steering input). Please help to force Saturn to recall these vehicles for the safety of the public! please note that I have driven other Saturn Vue's, and they all seem to behave the same way. Thank you!.
