general problems of the 2007 Saturn VUE

The brackets welded to the frame of the vehicle holding the steering knuckle/subframe together was designed in a very poor way. This design issue causes the vehicle to collect excess moisture in a way that is difficult if not impossible to drain, resulting in eventual rust build up in this area of the vehicle at an increased rate. Additionally, this section of the frame did not use thick enough steel, resulting in this bracket rusting off much quicker than the age of this vehicle should allow. This resulted in the engine dropping about an inch and a half, damage to the suspension, gasket and valve cover leaks, damaged wheel hubs, and general inoperability of the vehicle due to unsafe conditions created. It's unsafe driving condition has been confirmed by the lead mechanics at our gm dealership, and is currently undergoing inspection by geico for a possible total loss claim. No indications were given other than excessive wear on the wheel hubs shortly before the engine dropped and the corner of the frame rusted/broke off. We live in a salt state yes, but the poor design of this frame is to blame and should be recalled for total replacement by the manufacturers due to the incredible safety risk that this poses to the public.

I'm getting codes p0171 and p2138, air bag not working code on. .

I was driving on the highway going about 65 mph and the car started shaking,brakes. Got really tight car barely wanted to,stop transmissikn was overheating at the same time car wasnt passing second gear everything happened out of nowhere.

(motion) (highway at 70mph) cars key slides out of ignition when in the on position. (stationary) (driveway) have had problems starting vehicle, ie. Couldn't get the car to turn over as well as key sticking and being difficult to move - this made me think initially that it was altenator or battery. After letting the car sit a bit, and a lot of wiggling of the key, was finally able to start vehicle. These are the same problem gm had with earlier models and had to make a recall on. Yet there is not recall on the 2007? what happened to safety standards. I have not had it shut off on me while in motion yet. But I would not be surprised.

Air bag light goes on an off on passenger side. Now air bag light stays on all the time. It happened when car was moving and stopped. Took it to shop to get it checked out said it is a defective impact sensor an unable to verify if air bag works . Am getting it replaced as soon as I get the money, just replaced catalatic converter at only 72000 miles. Dealer replaced it for 260. 00 plus part 1200. 00.

Each time this occurred the vehicle was stationary/being parked, on 6-10 different occasions in the past 2 years, the key has gotten locked tight in the ignition switch. This caused the battery to run down and die on more than a few occasions. Once the key was frozen in place, after the engine was off, the key would not move in any direction and the steering was locked tight unable to move at all, the gear shift column was unable to be put in park. Other times the key would just be stuck in the ignition switch and could not be removed, regardless of effort to remove it, also not allowing the vehicle to be place into the gear of park. This problem has cause us to abandon the vehicle more than once, this is dangerous & should be addressed. I see other recalls on other Saturn models but not the Vue 2007, which does have a defect in this area and needs to be recalled. For the record the car key and the remote are the only things on my key chain, so the weight of the key chain is not the problem. This happened twice in the last 3 weeks.

When vehicle starts passager dash board makes tickong sound for about 2 min and stops. Passager seat will not go back latch does not work.

My Saturn Vue, year 2007, is making a screeching sound coming from the area of the transmission on startup and gets louder on acceleration. The rpm is overly amped. On acceleration if stutters or feels like it's skipping between gears. This takes place on starting the car to driving on city streets or the highway.

2007 Saturn Vue will not got into park. Makes a thump noise when put into reverse and no problems going into drive.

We were passing a truck, then the throttle stuck and the vehicle would not slow down , we finally got it in neutral and pulled over. This was very scary. And now my electrical is all messed up. I am scared to drive it. I don"t have the money to get it repaired. I now have to take the bus or bum a ride. I paid $6500 for this car. . Any chance I can get help from gm. I really like the car. But feel it is to danger ous to drive. I am a 24 year old single mom. Help! thanks. Hannah grisedale.

Ignition switch ongoing saga. Had the switch replaced 3 times - all at my cost all within one year. Had the key housing replaced a year 1/2 ago - key now hanging up again in the ignition. Last night couldn't remove the key at all and wouldn't be able to move my car. Fortunately happened in my garage and not a parking lot at night where I wouldn't be safe. It's not covered under all of the other known ignition switch recalls.

I can not start vehicle. I can't put in the switch to start vehicle even when I turn wheel.

It the ignition switch. I just recently started purchasing a 2007 Saturn Vue. From the first day I bought it, I had trouble turning the ignition, then about 1 week ago, it wouldn't turn at all. I took it back to the dealer I am purchasing through and they had to replace the entire ignition switch. . . Brand new. But now, the same problem seems to be occurring. This particular year is not on the recall list but I believe it should be. I noticed that many other sautun Vue's for 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 & 2009 are on the recall list for the malfunctioning ignition switch. Wish I had done my homework before I started making payments.

The ignition key can be removed when the ignition is not in the locked position and the car was not in park and started to roll away. This car 2007 Saturn Vue is having the same issue as found in gm recall 14506 which is stated as only for 2002-2004 Saturn Vue cars. The national highway traffic safety administration campaign id number for this recall is 14v490. The dealership said my vehicle does not have a recall for this defect but it is clearly a mfg defect. I would like this resolved at no charge.

I am having trouble with my key in the ignition switch. It comes out of the ignition while the car is in park and the car is still running & it came out once while driving. I can still remove the key in modes other than drive. My key has also gotten stuck in the ignition switch & I have to struggle with the steering wheel, etc to free it and/or tug on the gear shift in order to get the key into the proper position to remove it. One time I thought I would never get it free. Well, regarding the ignition switch issue, I have not seen anything about this being recalled, etc, after doing research on this, but feel this could be serious and I was wondering what do I do next, to find out about this?.

There is a recall on similar models for the same issue, but not mine. My key comes out of the ignition while driving and continues to run. This also occurs while in park. This could cause airbags to not deploy in an accident as well as it has drained my electrical system on a number of occasions because if it is not fully disengaged I can still remove the key in acc mode and drive mode. Also, I have to tug on the gear shift in order to get the key into the proper position to remove it properly. Now¿I cannot even turn my key, as the ignition is seizing. It takes me no less than 10 minutes to get it to click and turn on. I was advised my model is not in the recall though the same and same makes are. I really feel this is a huge issue. Please advise! this has been an issue since I have owned the vehicle and I was told it was a recall, but when I went to my appointment, they advised it is not part of the current recall.

Ignition key locked in place and would not turn on or unlock steering wheel causing vehicle to be immobile. This could cause the steering to hazardious if the steering locked while moving. Other gm vehicles, including Saturns have had recalls on the ignition switch.

After going to walmart returned to Saturn and tried to start it, ignition would not turn over. Have had a problem with the ignition about 2 years ; key locks into same, will not start, key fell out once while driving. Had to get it towed to dealer to get ignition replaced just to get car started. Should be a recall item.

My 2007 Saturn Vue has had numerous incidents with the key coming out of the ignition even when it is in drive.

The key would not turn while in the ignition or it was hard getting it out and the airbag light comes on from time to time.

When putting the key in the ignition, the key is getting stuck and will not turn to start the car. I have to wiggle the key multiple times until finally it makes an audible click and I am able to start the car. This does not happen every time I attempt to start the car but three quarters of the time I deal with this problem. Some times it only takes a few turns, other times I repeatedly remove the key and place it back in the ignition until it is able to rotate and start the car.

Like other cars in the ignition recall, when I try to turn on the car the wheel is locked, I need to move the steering wheel back and forth and if that doesn't work I press on the gas. I can also take the key out when the car is running. Gm will not pay for it because it is not in the recall and my mileage is over 100k. I also have a problem with the airbags turning on when there is no one in the passenger seat.

I have to turn the wheel back and forth several times and step on the gas a little to unlock the wheel and start the car. It's been doing this regularly since winter. I don't have any big key rings, etc. , so that shouldn't be why it's doing that. Also, the airbag light comes on the passenger side when no one is sitting there. In addition, a few times my car has stalled out in traffic. There is something going on with this model year Saturn Vue especially since I've read many complaints of an identical nature. Please recall this year as well and get these problems fixed.

The ignition switch on the vehicle is almost impossible to turn in the "on" position, at times.

Engine died at 89,000 miles rocker arm assembly fell apart both of them valve was bent, timing chain came loose just went to start vehicle and it wouldn't start towed in to a dealership to have it checked and found it to be engine I tried to go through gm to help with this it was out of warranty a little over a year nothing else has went wrong with the vehicle ever and I have had oil changes no reason for it to fall apart and 4800 dollars later I feel it was a defect in the engine itself I have read other defects on this 2. 2 litre engine of coarse no help from manufacturer even though its a 2007 car the engine is made separate from when a car is made I have not heard of too many vehicles with a dead engine this early. . .

Pulled out of a gas station on March 20, 2013 and heard something fall in the front of the car and drag the ground. Pulled off to see what it was and there was a bar hanging down from the car. Tested the car out and it was driving and steering fine so drove home. Tried to go to a gm dealership (dublin byers, dublin, OH). Their hours said they were open until 6:00 p. M and it was 5:45 p. M. Beeped the horn and they did not answer. Was taking the car to a repair shop on the 22nd to get a wheel bearing replaced and called and left them a message to tell them what happened. Checked my car out on March 21, 2013 and told me it was the stabilizer bar (sway bar). I believe this has been broken for quite some time but when I went down the slight embankment at the gas station apparently that was all it needed to fall down. It is a very clean break and did not break at the bolts but in the middle. Apparently this is happening to a number of cars as folks have been putting it on the internet. I did make a complaint to gm Saturn on-line and they have been in contact with me and wanted me to take the stabilizer bar to the dealership but it took a while to get through to the service manager. Went today and he never even came out and met me. He had one of the service team members just take the information down and they made a copy of my repair bill and took my phone number and said they will submit it to gm. I heard that they are still having issues with the stabilizer bar on the new vehicles as well. I believe there needs to be a recall on these and am hoping they reimburse me for the part. I am inclined to believe these parts are not solid metal that there could be some filler in them and believe this should be looked into. I can send you a photo of my part if you would like to look at it.

When you try to start the car, the ignition won't turn unless you try to move the steering wheel. It has progressively gotten worse as time goes on.

Key is able to be removed while the ignition switch is in on position, whether vehicle is stationary, moving, running or off. Started shortly after purchase (used) in 2010, at about 65,000 miles. Very disconcerting to say the least.

After the warrantee expired, my Saturn Vue experienced failure of the ignition lock system which cost me a fee of $141. 12 to have it replaced at the a-abra-cadabra lock service in akron, ohio. The problem was when I inserted the ignition key, sometimes the motor would start, and sometimes it wouldn't. Oftentimes, I had to shake the steering wheel to get the ignition to work. Also, sometimes the ignition key was difficult to get in and out of its slot. Because of these ignition switch problems, I feared an accident. According to the owner of the lock service shop, at that time his installation at 09/27/10, the replacement mechanism would eventually give me the same problems, and fail once again. He said it was the only ignition switch available for this vehicle, and only one manufacturer supplier produced the part. He said all of them were defective. Gm should immediately recall and replace this part for the Saturn Vue before someone is hurt in the ignition failure. This same ignition switch has already been recalled and replaced in the Saturn ion and other gm vehicles. Why not the Saturn Vue?.

Ignition key fell out of ignition while vehicle was in motion. It has happened several times since over the years. It can easily be removed from the ignition even when in the park position. Key can come out of ignition no matter if the key is new, a copy, or showing any wear. I have never kept anything other than one house key and the manufacturer's fab attached since I first took ownership of this vehicle.

Ignition locked could turn kep or pull out and/or start vehicle. Has happened several times through the years. The most one I am concerned with is the airbag light is on & off, mostly stays on. This started sometime around August, 2014. I have take a picture of it on my phone & will forward with another e-mail. I've checked for recalls on the VIN# & have none. I know there should at least be a recall on the airbags, I've heard. The key became difficult to turn on, it took repeated attempts to start the car. The switch was replaced under warranty, it started having the same problem again earlier this year.
