Car Will Not Start problems of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Key stuck in ignition lock cylinder. Steering wheel locked. Brakes locked. Shifter locked. Emergency flasher lights not working. All electrical off, windows would not open. Key would not turn in lock cylinder. Car would not start. Onstar communication was disabled. Lock cylinder had to be drilled out and replaced. Housing in steering column was damaged and had to be replaced. Car had to be towed. Saturn Vues were recalled for ignition lock cylinder replacement, but 2008 models were left out of the recall. They should be on the recall list for ignition cylinder steering wheel lock problems along with the other Saturn Vue models. Steering wheel locked and prevented me from leaving a nearly empty parking lot at dusk. I had no way to call for help from the car. I depend on onstar for emergency assistance where cell signals are weak.

2008 Saturn Vue has electrical malfunction. 3 months ago I parked my car in the garage, turned car off but the key would not come out of the ignition. The car would not start either. Called a tow truck, took to local mechanic. He advised the ignition switch was faulty and installed new ignition. Today new electrical problem occurred. Airbag light came on and off multiple times then stayed on. When car was re started light was off but came back on after about 15 minutes. I believe this vehicle should have been included in recall. It appears to have exactly the same issues.

The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the brake lights, headlights, and instrumental panel lights shut off several times. Most recently, while driving 55 mph, all of the lights dimmed. When the first failure occurred, the dealer replaced the computer body sensor. After the last failure, the dealer replaced the instrumental gauge cluster and the powertrain control module. The contact has not driven the vehicle since it was repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that they were unable to exchange the vehicle. The current mileage was 3,719 and failure mileage was 2,070. Updated 04/02/08. The fuel pump was replaced, because the vehicle would not start.
