We rarely have put the rear seat in the folded down position but did so this past weekend to bring home some baby gear from a friend's house. When I tried to lift the seat back to the upright position it wouldn't raise. It appears that the middle seat belt locked and will not release. We have three (3) children and must have all three (3)seat belts usable. Went online to search for help and we found many incidents of this happening on multiple year Saturns which would indicate a serious design flaw; yet we will be liable for the expense because the warranty has passed unless we can find a way to release the locking mechanism.
While driving 20 mph heard a clunk by the back rear passenger tire, the top of the right rear tire was tilted in. Appeared to have a broken lateral arm which was attached to the frame. If I would have been going any rate of speed this could have been a serious issue. I feel this is a serious safety hazard. I contacted Saturn who took my claim and admitted there was a recall on the lateral arm in 2005. This supposely was taken in to a dealership and fixed. I didn't own this vehicle then. Saturn refuses to be responsible for this issue and said it very likely couldve been a faultly part but since it has been taken care of in 2005 no longer responsible. I feel I could have killed myself, lost control and/or hurt someone else if I would have lost control.
My Saturn Vue 2003 experiences serious hestitation in power when traveling over 45 mph. The dangerous sputtering gets harder when I need to drive more than 45 mph such as when I have to travel on parkways or expressways. On December 3, 2011, I entered exit 36 of the grand central parkway and maintained a steady speed of 55 mph in light traffic. As the traffic increased to exit 17, the car began to hestitate and appear to want to come to a stop. It was difficult to maintain a decreased spead of 45 mph to avoid the sputtering and halting. I got into the right lane and exited the parkway as my car jolted then came to a sudden halt. I turned the car off, waited 15 minutes, put my car in drive and it would not drive forward. I put it in reverse and manuevered it into an open space along the curb on 78th avenue. I tried again and only with heavy pressure on the gas pedal was the car able to move forward enough to allow me to straighten into a position to be towed. I called aaa and was towed to a Saturn authorized service provider, northshore Chevrolet of smithtown, where it sits to this day. The brand new 2010 vt1 transmission needs to be replaced.
Timing belt broke and caused vehicle to stall while driving down the road at 45mph, this in turn caused major valve damage to vehicle. Poor engineer design/flawed. Still paying payments and now owe large repair bill. It was 1,500 mi out of extended warranty I purchased at the dealer. I have only owned the vehicle barely 2 years and it has been in for many misc. Repairs including both brake cylinders.
My 2006 Saturn Vue key will not turn in the ignition. The steering wheel is locked and will not turn to the left however it will turn very slightly to the right if pulled hard. For 4 hours 3 different people tried to jiggle the key that I had been using and my spare while turning the wheel. After blisters and sweating in the 98+ degree weather we had to call a tow truck. The driver again tried several things and looked at me and said that this was a serious problem. A total inconvience being at work and having an infant. My vehicle has been towed to a GMC dealership. I am seeing this same problem reported constantly.
2006 Saturn Vue has a/c system leaks in the same location of compressor hose and causes it to break. The hose was replaced last weekend at a pep boys location. I had the same mechanic look at again today and he noticed that the new hose is broken in the exact same location as the previous one.
2008 Saturn Vue with a/c problems. A/c will blow hot air after 10-15 min of drive time. Will not come back on, and a/c light flashes. A/c sometimes returns after being parked for a few hours, but only to go out again. Has been at gm dealership 3 times. 1st time they found nothing wrong, 2nd time they did a gas test said nothing was wrong. 3rd time I drove the car to the dealership when a/c went out, they saw it was not working, and replaced the thermostat. A/c is now out again 1 week later.
Air conditioning system stopped working. Electronic switch will not turn on blower motor for heat or cold. Causing it not to work and my car not able to drive in humid or raining conditions. Failure has not been corrected.
A/c fails/works intermittently. At times, the vents blow a white, very cold "fog" into the vehicle. Once this occurs the a/c will "freeze up" and not work properly. My mechanic is unable to determine/correct the problem. Purchased this vehicle Jan 2011. During the extreme heat experienced in mo during the summer of 2011; this is unacceptable and unsafe for children as the heat index rose to over 100 degrees and sustained for weeks at a time. I have a 6 yr & 8 yr old (who has heat triggered asthma). For this health reason I maintain a newer vehicle that should provide adequate a/c. For a vehicle of this age, mileage, and cost of this vehicle, I expect the manufacturer to ensure that this important feature is capable of running correctly for the first 100,000 miles; or recall & fix this a/c issue that I have found is plaguing many Saturn Vue owners. As a single mother, I do not have the flexibility or income to be without my vehicle while it is serviced by a dealership at dealership costs. Yet, it is now unsafe for me and my children to travel on extremely hot days in this vehicle.
8-10-2011 well I drive a 2005 Saturn Vue redline, I have small baby so when it comes to cold air my a/c is very important. In houston rightnow its been 3-digit tempatures. . . . In may of 2011 my a/c started acting up. When my SUV is idleing it blows very hot air, but when I'm driving it gets colder, so when I stop at a light or stop sign I have to take off pretty quick to get it blowing cold. It is to hot out to be without an a/c expecially for my daughter. I've been online reading hundreds of complaints just like mine for the Saturn Vue. Many have paid enormus amounts of money to try and find out the problem with these a/c systems and most still dont have theirs working right. I cant afford to spend spend and spend trying to find the problem only for the problem to keep happening. So please someone, anyone if you read this help us to solve this problem because we purchured these vehicle with our hard earned money so we deserve to get what we've payed for and I am still paying on mine. 354 a month and final bill around 17,500. I live a block away from a gm dealership but cant afford to pay them to diagnos the problem. . . .
While driving my son noticed a sound coming from the engine that was not normal. When we stopped I opened the hood and investigated. When idiling it sounded like a chain slapping, at 1000 rpms the sound was like a whir instead of a slap. After listening for a few moments I decided it sounded like the timing chain. The next day my wife brought the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer and they determined that the tensioner had failed and the chain was indeed slapping around, but it had not damaged a valve. I checked on the internet and found that Saturn engines, such as mine (2. 2l engines), did indeed have a problem with the timing chain. A recall was issued for that engine, but only 2000-2002 model year. Total cost to repair was almost $1400. 00.
2003 Saturn Vue 4wd. Key not turning, hard to start. Have to keep making new keys to work. Contacted Saturn dealer and they said nothing was ever done on my vechile. I purchased it used approx 2 years ago from capital Ford auto credit. I am being told that the recall is closed and there is nothing they can do unless I pay for it. Since there was a recall and nothing was done, I don't think this is exceptable. I am a single mother of 4 and I need a safe dependable car that is what I thought when I purchased this vehicle. Along with the other recalls as well. This was happening to me off and on, but now it was every time I get in my car. It takes like 10 minutes to start. Today I went to make a new key, but to make a new key every couple months and to know the consequences of not having the recall fixed it crazy. And now that I am checking into this and finding out nothing ever was done on any recall, I would great appreciate it if all was fixed now. Thank you.
Hi I have a 2008 Saturn Vue I purchased it brand new in 2008. In 2010 with about 32,000 miles the tranny was blown, they fixed it free of charge because it was still under warranty. Now that winter it here I went to put my car in manual transmission to go down a snow covered hill and the car would not down shift, it stayed in 4th. (I have not tryed to downshift since the new tranny was put in, this was the first time) brought it to the shop thinking it was the tranny and they say it is the floor shifter assembly wiring and is not under warranty. Has anyone else had this issue? the car is not even 3 yrs old!.
My Saturn 2008 has 47 000 miles and it already needs heater core replacement. I took it in because check engine light was on. It cost $333 to replace cam haft acuters. Six months ago I took my car in for one of the safety recalls because gm was recalling 44,451 2008 Saturn Vue vehicles with body color outside door handles. The outside door handles may stick or bind. If this were to occur, the door may not latch when closed. Consequences driving with an unlatched door could result in an unbelted occupant falling out of the vehicle, causing increased risk of injury. A month ago I took it for a different recall. Gm was recalling 42,408 2008-2009 Saturn Vue vehicles. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the nut securing the power steering line to the power steering pump may loosen. If this were to occur, there may be a power steering fluid leak. Consequences the fluid could contact hot exhaust components resulting in a possible engine compartment fire. Now I have coolant fluid dripping on my engine and I can not breathe while driving my vehicle. This is very expensive replacement and I don't know how I am going to pay for it. Dealership is asking for $1100 for just a part plus hours of work. They usually charge $80 an hour. My 2008 Saturn is spending more time in shop in repairs than on the road.
My 2003 Saturn Vue was having trouble with the transmission took it back to the car dealer were we bought it they said they fixed it we never got any paper work from them this happened twice in less than 6 months well they are no longer in business called GMC and sent letters because we were told there were a recall on the transmission and we never received a recall well they sent a note to us but told us we were over the miles they honored that's not our fault we were never notified of a recall now I have a Saturn in my drive way with no drive and still have to make payments this is not fair they should replace the transmission no matter how many miles over it is and we bought it used im at wits end with everybody else that has a 2003 Saturn with the same problems just read all the complaints they should be held responsible.
The key will not turn in the ignition to start the engine and/or to stop the engine. I was told that the key was worn out and needed to be replaced but this did not fix the problem. This has occurred on a daily basis sometimes not allowing the vehicle to be turned off and at other times not allowing the vehicle to start up. If the vehicle stalls on a busy highway and cannot be started, this is a serious safety concern as well as if the vehicle cannot be shut down in case of an accident or fire.
I own a 2004 Saturn Vue. The vti transmission that was originally put in it failed at a little over 57,000 miles and was replaced under warranty in August 2008 with another vti transmission. This month, March 2010, the 2nd vti transmission also failed (80,650 miles/about 23,000 miles after the repair) and is now no longer under warranty. Gm will only cover 50%, although a previous class action lawsuit requires they pay more. It will now cost me $1638 plus taxes to repair it and put in the third transmission that will only hold a 12,000 mile warranty. The original vti transmission should not have been replaced with another faulty engine. If it had been replaced with what they claim to be a better transmission that they are currently replacing them with, then it would have been covered under my original warranty and the current cost never would have been placed on me. Gm knows the vti transmission is bad and isn't using it anymore, yet is failing to correct the issue appropriately for current owners such as myself. With the amount of problems that this transmission has proven to have for its owners, gm should be forced to recall this transmission as it is a defect with the transmission and since it will go out when you're driving (passing through an intersection, turning, etc) it is very dangerous to individuals when driving it.
I had my 100,000 service performed on my car(2002 Saturn Vue) and six months later (less then 5,000 miles) my timing belt broke while traveling on the interstate at 65mph. I was told that it was due to a "possible oil leak" or because I hadn't had my oil changed since my last service and sludge had possible built up in the engine. While researching the problem, I noted that many others had the same problem with the Saturn l series and a few Vues. I was told to repair the timing chain, cylinder head, and gaskets would cost $2600 or I could replace the engine (not sure of the cost of a used engine at this point).
I have lived north of des moines for the last few years. I have noticed growing traffic between des moines and ankeny as the areas outside of des moines continue to grow. I have observed a growing problem and I am becoming more and more cautious with road rage drivers. On ne 14th heading north (directly north of the I-80) the left lane merges after the stop light. Vehicles will speed through the light and then merge into the right lane to beat the traffic. It would be much safer and it would reduce the road rage drivers/inpatient speeders if you were to merge the lanes before (south) of the light. Is this a possibility?.
The contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle began making a loud noise. On three occasions, the dealer stated that the vehicle did not make enough noise for them to make an unspecified repair. The contact has been able to drive the vehicle despite the noise. The dealer refused to diagnose the computer to determine the cause of the failure. The noise sounded as if a component underneath the vehicle was making contact with the ground. The dealer stated that they could not find any failures during the test drive, but they heard the noise. The failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 100,000. Updated 07/28/09 the consumer stated the noise was coming from inside the transmission. The front rotors were replaced. Updated 07/31/09.
The vehicle has major wind noise. . . You can not even hear the radio or conversations in the vehicle due to this noise. The car also has a rattling coming from the driver and passenger side of the car, we can not identify the source. The vehicle also rolls back on a hill when in drive. The brakes also squeal and the dealership says they are fine, but we do not believe they are. These problems have been going on since may 2005 and till now (1/18/06) Saturn has not fixed any of them.
Have taken car to dealer more than once for following items: (1) ignition does not release when key removed. The first time all they did was make a new key, today (Feb 16, 2006) they changed a spring on the 1st "level". Problem still exists intermittent, after I left dealer. First reported apx sept 2005. (2) major skidding on slight grades when sudden braking. Dealers maint fluffed it off each time saying nothing wrong. Problem since 2004. (3) when shifting down from drive to park intermittent sticking at reverse position, very subtle but definitely not normal. Problem just started (Jan 2006). Date listed under "incident date" was just to be able to input into computer. There are 3 different issues from different dates and yrs. All are apx.
1. Recall transaxle 2. Same day ---check ingine light would not go out. They fixed it and same day it came on again, they fixed it again 3. Same day car is lurching shen coming to a stop. They fixed it. 4. Next week the car is not getting any gas when press the excelerator. 5. Car had to be towed in becasue it would not start at all. They fixed it. 6. Same day after pick up hear knocking sound when turn a corner and then rattle when increase in speed. They said they donot hear anything.
Horn doesn't honk or almost impossible to honk until too late.
Roof rack is attached via a customer/dealer installed stud that replaces the factory installed mounting screw. The stud is rusting and does not remain tight after rack and cargo box usage. Either the rust or the lack of tightness will eventually lead to cargo box and rack being torn from roof during travel. There is the possiblility for a serious accident.
