I was driving down the road and my knee accidentally hit the key and it fell right out of the ignition switch. I have to fumble around for it on the floor while the car was running and moving. I also have noticed in the last few months that I have to jiggle the ignition switch quite a few times back and forth in order to start the car. I have been having two problems with the switch , #1 , I can remove the key while the motor is running and it will continue to run ,. #2 , when I turn the ignition off the key will jam before reaching the key removal position , this is intermittent , and I have turn to the ignition on position and then turn it off a second time , this usually works , most of the time . My question is given that gm has now identified the cause of the ignition switch faults (failure) , why have they only just recalled some of the Saturn line of vehicles and not all of them. I am aware that since gm closed the Saturn plants , that they have a ten year commitment to fix problems on all Saturn vehicles , this information was given too me by a gm dealership in the seattle area , during a visit to get a lube job . We live in moses lake , wa about 300 miles from seattle . Also my understanding is that this dealership are the only one in wa contracted to do any work on the Saturn line of vehicles.
