1 Warning problem of the 2021 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

I have a 2021 Subaru Ascent that falls under an extended warranty regarding the windshield due to a faulty windshield. My windshield has cracked, reduce visibility, and does not allow the forward collision warning to work properly. Subaru recognizes the faulty windshield and refuses to remedy the issue. I question the safety and integrity of this windshield to protect from normal road debris strikes, allow normal visibility, and the integrity of the lamination of the from windshield in the event of a collision.

2 Warning problem of the 2019 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 01/16/2025

Started the vehicle to drive 30 miles for an appointment. While driving, all of the intrument cluster lights illuminated. The eye sight turned off, cruise control no longer worked, parking brake light was illuminated, abs light was illuminated. Tpms light was illuminated. This has occured 2 times before. The fix for the previous issues was to clean the battery terminals.

3 Warning problem of the 2022 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 07/02/2023

This observation/complaint is about a 2022 Subaru Ascent automobile, which I own. When the gas cap is loose, the car's computer disables several safety features, including collision avoidance, lane control, cruise control, reverse-automatic-braking control, all occur suddenly, while driving, after the computer processes the fault. Upon securing the gas cap and ostensibly fixing the problem, the computer may continue to disable said safety features for (according to Subaru service agents) multiple days for as long as 30 days. On 7/2/23, while driving, several warning lights illuminated in the instrument cluster advising of the loss of many safety features. After stopping and reading the owners manual, I inspected and confirmed that the gas cap was properly sealed. That action did not fix the warning lights nor the disablement of safety features. I had 4 start-shutoff cycles in 6. 5 hours. Three hundred and fifty miles later, I refueled, and confirmed that the gas cap was installed properly at the conclusion. Nothing changed with the disabled safety features. The following two days, I experienced 5 daily start-shutoffs with no effect on the safety features. The 3rd day, after 2 start-shutoff cycles, and while idling the engine, the warning lights disappeared and the safety features operated properly. Upon visiting a dealership, I was informed that the onboard computer identified a loose gas cap as the problem. Two service advisors told me that this experience is normal and that they have seen it take as long as 30 days for the computer to recognize that the problem was "fixed".

4 Warning problem of the 2023 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 05/02/2023

Subaru eyesight will turn off randomly while driving or while parked (turn the vehicle off, unlock the door, sit for a minute or two and when restarting the vehicle, eyesight indicator is orange - off. Example - getting fuel at a full service gas station. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. Our safety is put at risk. Once eyesight is off it will not reset/restart, so you are driving without the number one Subaru safety feature. We can reproduce the error. The dealer just looked at the codes and said it was normal operation. We reported the error to Subaru customer care and we have a case number. Subaru customer care is going to contact the dealer. There is a small red "I" indicator light in the dash that will light up after eyesight fails. There are no warnings of the failure. We understand rain, snow and fog will impact eyesight. We had a 2020 Subaru that eyesight only shutdown when expected (heavy rain, snow, fog) and would restart once we were in the clear, but now we are told that sunlight and windshield condensation affects eyesight's functionality. We were also told by customer care that the cameras where changed on the 2023 Ascent model.

5 Warning problem of the 2021 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 11/30/2022

Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, eye sight, rab, some ! symbol, and check engine light are all on and not working. You know everything that makes a Subaru. This is not the first or even second time. We are on the fourth instance of this happening. We live 2+ hrs away from the closest dealers. The first few times it occurred, we called to make a appointment. Each time was always a few weeks out and the issue would clear a day or two before. This last time has been going on for 6 weeks. We both work full time and have a very sick kid so making a appointment is hard. This last time I asked if I can drop in just for a scan due to being in town for an appointment. Was met with we are backed up with way to many repairs. Also it would not be fair to any other people. It is most likely your gas cap. I have made sure the cap is tight as it can get every time from the first time it occurred. So all safety features on the Subaru Ascent just stop working if the cap is not tight. Not only is this a major safety issue their qa is asleep at the wheel. Known issue, just check the forums.

6 Warning problem of the 2021 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

Vehicle wanders on the highway. When passing a vehicle on the road the lane centering assist tries to hug the centerline and the driver must keep pulling he vehicle back to the center of the passing lane. A short lapse of steering could pull the vehicle into the side of the vehicle being passed. Full time job to keep the vehicle from wandering when very liitle wind and almost impossible to keep it from wandering when the wind is blowing 15-20 mph. Not a pleasant relaxing drive.

7 Warning problem of the 2020 Subaru Ascent

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

A chip in the windshield cracked and spidered down the whole windshield. It happened 2 weeks after owning my new car. I'm still unsure on why it cracked 🤦‍♀️ there isn't a chip mark or any start point. It's worried how it just started cracking. And since it's over a 1,000 to fix it. It is still cracked. And anything that requires the eye no longer works. I love my car but hate how nothing needing the eye works.
