1 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 12/08/2019

I had the brake lamp switch recall performed in may of 2019 and now all of a sudden my brake lights are turning on all of a sudden by themselves at night time. The car is parked, not running and locked. I think I have received a defective switch. When I notice this I must go outside and step on the brake to turn them off. This has happened 3 different times this month.

2 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

There is a little space between the brake lamp switch and brake that has my brake lights constantly on. While I am driving if I don't keep my left foot under the brake pedal and pushing it up then the brake lights will constantly be on. If I don't keep my foot there then sometimes when I am going up a hill or driving the car will drop rpms and then I have to put my foot under the brake and push it up again. Also, when driving the hill assist light, on the dashboard will turn on and the car will roll down the hill any direction when in reverse or drive because of the switch. I had gone to Subaru to do the recall for the brake lamp switch and then a few weeks after this issue began to occur.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 10/03/2019

My brake lights came on while the car was parked and turned off. When I returned to the vehicle after work, the battery was almost completely discharged. I was able to call for roadside assistance through Subaru and received a jump start. (the same thing happened while I was backpacking the weekend of 9/21-9/22, but the battery was completely discharged. Another one of the members of our scout troop was able to give me a jump start. Previously, I had been having issues with the brake lights illuminating, but had been able to catch it in time before the battery died. In addition, while driving the car would lose the ability to accelerate for a couple of seconds, which could be remedied by me taking my foot off of the gas pedal. After the jump on 10/3, this loss of acceleration happened while I was driving home to the point where I had to pull over because the car would not continue moving. On a final note, I replaced the brake light switch the evening of 10/3 and have not experienced either problem since. ).

4 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

The vehicle was losing power and getting close to the point of stalling but never stalled. It would periodically not switch gears as well. Seems like it could have been a faulty brake light switch. Apparently I was told that my vehicle was not covered under the recall put out earlier for this issue. So I had to pay out of pocket.

5 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 05/06/2019

This is a complaint about Subaru dealers not responding to a recall in what I would call a timely manner. I cannot tell where on your website to submit this. It is very confusing. It says to submit a complaint of this type, but doesn't tell where. I got a recall for the brake light issue. I consider this a very high priority. The dealer said they could see me in a week. That seems unreasonable considering the nature of the recall. I am very disappointed in Subaru, and in your call-in system which seemed to provide not help.
