Cruise Control Problems of Subaru Crosstrek

The contact owns a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact stated while driving with the cruise control activated and attempting to overtake another vehicle, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, after overtaking the other vehicle, the vehicle independently started braking and slowed down to the preset cruising speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline and report the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

When I turn on cruise control and set the desired speed the system on its own decides to accelerate to 90 or 100 mph. This occurs on the highway when I am travelling long distances. I dont know the exact sequence if its initially when I turn on the cruise control or when I want to resume and go a bit faster. This has occurred a couple of times and can't be recreated on demand. I took the car into Subaru and they have no known recalls and found nothing wrong.

Check engine light, oil temp, abs light, cruise control light, traction control light and abs light turned on at 90,000 miles. Had vehicle serviced by 2 different mechanics and transmission codes still appear.

Check engine light is on and cruise control light blinks. Cannot use cruise control. Its a 2017 Crosstrek. Took it to dealer twice. They thought it was catalytic convertor or O2 sensors which were fixed but lights remain on.

While driving on the highway, the engine just stopped and the entire vehicle turned off (computers and all). The cruise control was being turned off (from going about 75) because I was approaching traffic and it just turned off. Brakes still worked and I got on the shoulder. Then when trying to turn it back on, it would have very strange noise like an old fan or clunking. I would press my accelerator all the way down and it would only go 5 miles an hour. Finally after turning the car off an restarting enough times it ran normally. But then the computer was on the fritz. Flashing the high incline sign, the four wheel drive sign, and flashing all the cruise control. And the check engine light is on.

Driving on highway adaptive cruise control engaged. Skies are grey. It's about 1300. No rain. In right lane. 2 cars ahead exited and cruise control did not see the white truck ahead of us who was slowing down for traffic. The car increased speed, accelerating into the back of the truck. We applied our breaks and avoided an accident going from about 50 mph to the slow traffic speed of about 20 mph in 10 yards. It was quite scary. I similar incident with the car not seeing a white truck happened about a year ago in stop and go traffic driving through seattle.

The contact owns a 2015 Subaru xv Crosstrek. The contact stated that the cruise control failed to remain at the desired speed and increased speed suddenly without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (tucson Subaru, 4901 n oracle rd, tucson, az 85704, (520) 422-2111) who replaced the cruise control switch. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
