Front Air Bag Sensor Control Problems of Subaru Crosstrek

Subaru Crosstrek owners have reported 4 problems related to front air bag sensor control (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2014 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

The passenger side 'occupant detection sensor module' is faulty. This module has been recalled on similar Subaru vehicles recently. The module detects an occupant in the passenger seat, and either activates or deactivates the supplemental restraint system. At approximately 135k miles, the sensor began to routinely turn the airbag off when the passenger seat was occupied. This occurs while the vehicle is at interstate speed to idle speed. Subaru (at the dealership in grand junction, CO) has performed a diagnosis and provided me this information.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

My airbag sensor went out on my passenger seat and it was on backorder for over a month and a half. This issue had been reported by other Subaru cars (forester) and it also occurred on my vehicle.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2014 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 08/27/2018

Overly sensitive front passenger airbag sensor. After working out side in the summer, the sweat from a passengers body will turn off the airbag, even if it wasn't much sweat. Dealer told me it was a common problem and there was no fix. Most summer days in texas I have no passenger airbags due to the sweat from walking to my car. Also airbag will turn on with as little as 2-5 lbs of pressure. These errors happen in all phases of driving.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 08/14/2018

The sensor on the passenger seat turns in the air bags and seat belt sensor for well under the designed threshold. As an example it triggered for two 20 ounce bottles of soda. The vehicle was in motion on a city street.
