Two problems related to exterior lighting have been reported for the 2020 Subaru Forester. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2020 Subaru Forester based on all problems reported for the 2020 Forester.
Since I purchased my Subaru Forester new in 2020, people regularly flash their high beams at me at night when my low beams are on, because they think I have my high beams on. I also flash my high beams at cars when I think they have their high beams on then they do the same, to show me they have their low beams on. It needs to be illegal for manufacturers of cars and/or headlights to manufacture low beams with these dangerous settings. I didn’t know I could file a complaint with this department until a week ago otherwise I would have done it in 2020.
Vehicle has led headlights. The low beams have a very sharply defined cutoff. This cutoff is very close to the vehicle. Much too close. Additionally, the bright leds in the lit zone contrast with the darkness beyond that it exacerbates the issue. Bottom line - you can not see a distance adequate for safe driving. To add insult to injury, there are two dark “rectangle” within the lit zone. These shadows cause significant distraction to the driver. The distraction of the shadows increases significantly if you turn on the “steering responsive headlight” feature. This causes the blobs to swing around left and right - which obviously increases the distraction.
