2 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2019 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/10/2024

I got in my vehicle after getting gas. I was on my way to neosho, mo, hundreds of miles from home. Thes lights were all on and I couldn't get them to go off. I figured it was because my windshield was dirty. I turned my wipers on to find out one needed replaced. I paid $30 for 1 since I have an odd type of wipers and I had been to 3 auto stores to find it. The eye sight, brake, check engine, air bag, and lane assist lights never went off. Now they come on randomly and go off randomly. This causes all safety features to not work. No adaptive cruise control, nothing. I finally got them to go off somehow the day I came back home. I live nowhere near a Subaru dealer. It had no other effect on my vehicle as far as I could tell. Now when they come on. I pull over until they come back on or have to drive it home to sit.

8 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

1-16-24:car wouldn’t open and start; jump-started by aaa to dealer; dealer kept overnight & checked battery: said charge held, ready to go home. 1-30-24, 4 pm-ish: able to start n drive, but check engine& eyesight warning light came on- late in day, so didn’t drive to dealer. 1-31-car dead; jump-started by aaa again & drove to dealer. On 2-1-24, dealer sends a video & says replaced battery, but check engine light & eye sight warning light still on; investigated further & found there was a lot of water that had pooled under the passenger seat & caused some corrosion- I. E. : shorted out electrical system. I asked dealer to report to Subaru since this seemed like a car defect. 2-9-24- dealer says Subaru won’t repair it at their expense and it’s a 25 hour job & will cost a lot. Dealer wanted me to file a claim with my insurance, but car was not driven through rain, high water, or stored in a flooded garage or on a flooded street. The water in the car seems like a design defect on the part of Subaru.

9 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/03/2024

On January 3, 2024, my Subaru Forester suddenly lost emergency safety features such as the blind spot warning system. Many warning messages flashed on the screen as I drove north on rt 1 and the blind spot warning system was totally disabled. I believe that other safety features were likewise disabled, as well. I was upset as I had traded in my 2015 Forester because it lacked those safety features that in my new car had abruptly just stopped working! I drove my car to the concordville Subaru dealership for diagnosis and repair. I was told that the tech found error code p0455. The tech also found that the gas cap was secured and he reset the code and test drove the car. The error code did not re-occur upon test driving the car. I was told that that error code meant that gas fumes had escaped from the tank and that, when that occurs, all safety features are disabled. As my gas cap was secured that explanation seemed very weak to me and I asked how that explanation could be correct. I was told that Subaru could do a "smoke test" to ensure no leaks of gas fumes. I was given a loaner car and the test was done and no issues were found. As my car was running fine, I took my car home. I am writing this complaint over a year past the incident because I have now had a second incident, different in detail, but I am fearing some major problem with the car. I will write a complaint regarding the second incident which occurred on January 5, 2025.

11 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/11/2023

The car dies when it stops for a traffic stop. Sometimes it starts again and and sometimes it does not. It does not do it when the air is on. People honk at you in traffic if you do not start right away. I thought there was a recall on Subarus for same which is why I never bought one. The vehicle has been inspected. It also unlocks itself sometimes after I lock it.

12 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 03/06/2023

The first incident occurred when I drove into a parking space, applied the brakes, and the car suddenly sped forward, so I had to repeatedly jam on the brakes to make the car stop. Fortunately, no person or vehicle was directly in front of me. In the past week, we have experienced problems with the adas. We were backing into a parking space at night and made contact with a parked car. Our car made no warning sounds or lights to warn us. The following day, the blind spot detector light went on and off intermittently, sometimes with an exclamation point, and sometimes without an exclamation point. The lights on the mirror did not come on when cars were approaching from behind. We are making an appointment with the dealer ASAP.

14 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/27/2023

My Forester needed new tires at 13,250 miles. I had my tires rotated and that is when Subaru noticed the worn tires. I called Subaru corporate and they informed me that do not replace tires. I bought new tires and then went to have a wheel alignment. The technician told me he could do the alignment but he couldn't adjust the lane assist diagnostic or the vdc and other safety features. Now I am unsure what to do. I have tried to resolve this with Subaru of America without resolution. Hopefully, you will be able to help me. Why are Subaru dealers not doing these adjustments? thanks for your help with this serious situation. Bobette turner.

16 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/24/2022

Unknown origin. Airbag issues started in September October 2022. 2015 Subaru Forester. Vehicle with heated seats similar to open recall. Warning notice display as to airbag dysfunction. Airbag determined to not function by dealer. But informed not within the specific airbag recall affecting other same era (2015) Foresters now under recall altho symptomatically the same issues as other vehicles subject to recall. Quoted up to $2000 to fix the vehicle. Subsequently, the driver side warning assistance sensors have stopped working on the vehicle. Because the VIN # does not fit within the recall matching system, Subaru could not replace the airbag without payment. Even after offering some payment accommodation on the part, Subaru wanted $1000 or so to repair and could not give a final estimate in advance. This vehicle has less than 40,000 miles on it.

17 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Dtc p26a3 thermo control valve ? all my safety features are disabled until the part becomes available- it is apparently on back order and/ or not part of an active recall or both ? having difficulty getting information from my dealer/service dept.

18 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

Went to start my car and battery was dead. Got a jump from aaa but since none of the eyesight safety features worked, I had the car towed to Subaru and they replaced the battery. I was told I'd need to drive it every day to keep the battery charged. That's absurd. To make things worse, remote start will only work for 2 starts. On the 3rd start, it won't start unless you start the car manually. What's the point of having a remote start if you have to start the car manually every 3 days?.
