Both rear springs broken. Went to mechanic to fix both rear bearings , mechanic discovered both rear springs were cracked.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Subaru Forester. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the contact's son noticed that the vehicle was leaning. When the contact look underneath the vehicle, he noticed that both rear springs were detached. The vehicle was towed to ganley Subaru of bedford (123 broadway Ave, bedford, OH 44146, (440) 439-3444) where it was diagnosed that both springs and struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to pay half of the repair cost. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

While driving my car on a clear, warm day, my daughter drove over a speed bump and the rear springs both broke leaving the car undriveable. At first, I was angry with her, thinking that she had hit the speed bump too hard, but upon doing research on the problem, I discovered dozens of similar complaints in regard to the same situation. Talking with a service person at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (kenny ross Subaru), he stated that he was aware of the problem with the 2014-2015 forresters, but there was no official recall and quoted a price of $925. 00 for the repair. I feel that with a problem that is not unique to only me and with this many other occurrences, Subaru should step up and issue a recall and reimburse owners who have already had the repair made.
Had just got done registering my 2015 Forester with 69k miles. Had replaced my tires since they were needed to be done for inspection and as I was reversing out of the shop it felt like I had popped my tire. Got out and saw the whole rear driverside spring shot down through the strut. Luckily it all happened in the parking lot, not with me driving down to my mechanic get get my inspection done. Also had both my children in the car with me so I was pretty upset with this happening. Brought the car to my dealership (prime Subaru of manchester) where I had purchased the vehicle and told them what had happened. To my surprise not only did the driverside snapped, but also the other rear too. Was estimated to be $550 for the repair. From what I saw both springs snapped due to rust. Purchased this vehicle so I didnt have to deal with problems like this being that I am a young father of 2 and cannot really afford nor should have to repair stuff like this. With a vehicle being only 5 years I do not find this acceptable. Subaru of America really need to take action towards this before someone gets seriously injured.
I took my car in for a recall on brake light switch and stohlman Subaru told me the right rear spring was broken, but the parts are out of stock. They reccommend replacing both rear springs at $700-800, when they are available. A hardship for me as I am a senior. I was not aware of when it broke, or that it was broken. They told me it probably rusted.
Both rear springs broken at the lower perch of the strut. Car has 9533 miles. Subaru replaced both springs for no cost because it was a safety issue. Owner did not notice any problem until car was brought to dealer for brake lamp switch recall. The dealer knew right away what the problem was before it went on the lift.
Car was not moving and sitting in my driveway. When I noticed the left rear body frame low, almost touching the tire. Looked under car and found broken spring pieces, that was totally rusted inside out. This should not happen to a 4 year old car with only 38k miles. I was very lucky not driving the when this failure happen or it could of lead to a major accident. I also found out though the internet this is not a one time problem Subaru is having with these springs breaking. I believe it's a manufactured material defect that should be recalled immediately before some one gets injured! also the cost should be be handled by Subaru. .
Garage kept automobile with less than 18,000 miles, never taken off road. The bottom of both rear strut springs unexpectedly broke causing vehicle to drop affecting steering and stability. Apparent cause: defective part failed due to premature rusting causing.

I was driving home from work on April 19, 2019. I made a left turn and heard a pop. The car became squirrelly. I called our mechanic and he asked if the car leaned to one side or the other. I said yes. He said it was likely a bad spring or strut. When I got home I jacked up the car and the right rear spring was broken. I got 3 quotes from tom wood Subaru. One for springs. One for struts and hardware. The last was for tom wood to fix it. I wasn't sure if I lost any parts so I looked at the left rear side. To my surprise, that spring was also completely broken but hasn't snapped off the strut yet. This seems like defective springs. The car had 54,448 miles and has not carried a lot of weight. In my 30+ years of driving, I have never had a car break a spring, let alone have 2 broken springs.

I pulled over at napa and called our mechanic and described what was going on. He asked me if the car was leaning to one side or the other. I said yes. He said it was likely a bad spring or strut. When I got home, I jacked up the car and removed the tire. The right spring was broken and fell off of the strut. Saturday April 20, 2019 I got 4 quotes from tom wood Subaru. One for springs ($120 x2). One for the struts ($191). One for all the hardware needed ($770). Lastly, what tom wood Subaru would charge to do the job (around $1100). The said they were booked for at least 2 weeks with airbag recalls. I wasn't sure if I lost any parts so I looked at the left rear sides a reference. To my surprise, that spring was also completely broken but hadn't snapped off the strut yet. This seems like defective springs. The car has 54,448 miles and has not carried a lot of weight or been driven hard. In my 30+ years of driving, I have never had a car break a spring, let alone have 2 broken springs. I was really glad I wasn't in an accident since the back end was very unstable. It drifted from side to side erratically. This defect risked my safety and those around me. To make matters worse, I didn't have a car and had to have my father-in-law had to pick me up to go to easter service. This ordeal has been very stressful.
I was driving at a low rate of speed in my paved apartment complex road when I heard a loud metallic ping. I thought I had just thrown a rock or something. But the next day my car was making squeaking noises when going over rough roads and over speed bumps and seemed more difficult to handle when driving. I took the car in to the dealer to find that the right rear spring had sheared and that both back spring were badly rusted. I only had just over 21,000 miles and do not drive off road or do any towing. Both springs had to be replaced. This seems to have happened far too soon in the life of car -- I believe it is a manufacturing defect given how many other people I've heard having the exact same issue. Repair bill was ~$780. Subaru did reimburse a good portion as a good will gesture - acknowledging that this was a premature failure.
The driver's side rear spring on my 2014 Forester with 39,500 miles broke spontaneously while driving under normal conditions. When the car was placed on a lift and raised up at the repair shop the suspension dropped down and the passenger's side spring broke as well. I have never gone off road, towed, or carried heavy loads. Looking around online, many others have had this same thing occur. The replacement springs were back-ordered from Subaru for several weeks, indicating that many others have had this happen. I believe this is a manufacturing defect and a nationwide recall should occur. Luckily I was driving at low speeds when my spring broke but this could potentially be very dangerous.
My left rear spring let go. My car has been in the shop for two weeks now. The suburu dealer stated that they do not have the parts in stock and do not know when they will have them available. I asked them to repair the right rear spring as well because I want both springs replaced at the same time so the car will not be harmed. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle and am disappointed it has taken this long so far. I have not heard from the dealer and am concerned at how long this is going to take to repair. They cannot tell me anything. I feel the springs on the vehicle are not safe and they should be recalled. Suburu should pay for the replacement of the springs and not charge me. I did not go over any pot holes. I have very low mileage on my vehicle. I have always been happy with suburu cars (this was my third purchase) but after this incident, I am not certain I will purchase a new suburu vehicle again.
Ac compressor went after 3 years (went at the end of summer last year 2017) and I live in the north east where we only use ac less than half of the year. Also rear suspension spring went this year. Both of these issues are extremely premature on a 2014 model year vehicle. There are no good after market options for either of these parts so had to use oem (Subaru) parts. The springs have been re-enforced with a white coating that is not on the original and they were on back order for 3 weeks (that's after calling about the delay and getting them expedited) showing there is an issue with this part. The springs broke while driving making a very loud bang then feeling very unsafe to drive.
