36 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 04/28/2024

Just discovered this morning that the windshield of my car has a long crack without being hit by any item like stone or small debris. It also affects the eyesight as it malfunctions occassionally.

37 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

The windshield developed a spontaneous crack, starting at the base of the right passenger windshield wiper and traveling in a line up toward the middle in a slanted line. There is no spike, no rock hit, nothing to have caused this. I believe it is a stress fracture as reported by others who have Subarus with eyesight technology. I have an appointment with the Subaru dealer tomorrow morning. This appeared suddenly and must have happened overnight as it was not there yesterday but it was there when I got into the car this morning. The car was parked overnight.

38 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 04/10/2024

Windshield has cracked twice with no visual impact site or minimal impact. Occurred almost ‘spontaneously. ’ both incidents had significant splintering on the windshield impairing visibility. Incidents occurred within 6 months of each other. The windshield cracking can also affect the ‘eye sight’ camera with the car safety features. Appears to be a known issue with the type of glass used.

39 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 03/26/2024

Fourth windshield crack in 4 years. Enough. Please do a recall of this model.

40 Wiper problem of the 2019 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 03/18/2024

Car was sitting outside for the day (with camera observing it). Windshield had no issues when the car was moved to the street in the morning. Windshield was cracked from driver side bottom corner all the way past the half way point and about half way up the windshield. Review of camera video confirmed that no one or thing touched the car during the day. Suspect that the windshield is defective.

I was driving to work and I was on the freeway and all of a sudden without a rock hitting my windshield, it started to crack. It might go bigger if I drive more and right now it is longer than 6 inches.

43 Wiper problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/04/2024

Car only has 6,000 miles, had 2 tiny stones hit the windshield and put 2 pebble sized holes in windshield, got those fixed and a week later another stone hit and now it has a quarter size chip, hole ,never had any other car I owned have this happen too,I would think a #1 safety rated manufacturer would have better windshields.

44 Wiper problem of the 2018 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/03/2024

A few days ago, a crack suddenly appeared in the windshield. It appeared when the car was parked in the garage. I reached out to Subaru and they wanted me to take it to dealtership and get pictures taken. So, I complied and pictures were taken. The cause was given as a less than a mm speckk hitting about 1 inch or so above from dash. Area where glass is supposed to be strongest. I repeat, the cause was less than a mm sized dust particle. The vehicle was driven on paved roads, within city at a max speed of 60 miles per hour. My concen is that when such a small speck can cause a crack, what is to say a 5 mm particle will not blow the windshield on my face. This is a serious quality concern and I am afraid to drive Subaru with Subaru parts in it. All while it is advertised as rugged off road vehicle. After reading through forums, it was found that a lot of folks have had this issue and Subaru has had recalls on some vehicles for the same quality of windshield issue. The response from Subaru was that they make thin glass because of eyesight technology. Either ways, Subaru has compromised on quality to add a piece of technology. Compromise that could shatter the windshield while driving on highways causing accident or worse. I will be happy to provide pictures and communication with Subaru if needed.

45 Wiper problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

I have owned the vehicle less than 6 months. There is now a 6 inch crack in my front windshield for no apparent reason. It just appeared one day last week. I have heard from other Subaru owners that this is a common problem. They suggested I report the issue here.

46 Wiper problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/21/2024

Right side of windshield had a small crack. Illinois law can’t drive with a cracked windshield. Called Subaru they don’t fix windshield problems. Appointment at safelite on 1/23/24 crack had gotten bigger they cannot repair now have to replace windshield. Appointment on 1/25/24 to replace windshield. No prior incident that would have led to this situation. Never owned a car where the windshield needed to be replaced.

47 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/21/2024

Windshield cracked. During a week of sub-freezing temperatures in January, the windshield cracked from the base of the windshield to the to the center point of the windshield (see photo submitted). Note: the windshield had had a very minor chip in it at the base of the windshield before the crack occurred.

48 Wiper problem of the 2019 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/09/2024

Windshield spontaneously cracked without any known impact or damage. Vehicle was not in motion at time. Sitting at stoplight heard a ping and then noticed crack across bottom of windshield affecting visibility. No other vehicles were near enough or in motion that debris could have been at fault.

49 Wiper problem of the 2019 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/05/2024

Went to a daycare to do a tour at 9am, parked my car and was gone for about 30 minutes and when I came back, there was a large crack (8inches) that starts from the bottom of the middle windshield. There was no indent or nothing that could have caused this.

50 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/16/2023

Had a rock barely touch my windshield causing a crack.

51 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/05/2023

When I am idling at a stop sign or sitting in traffic and I have come to a full stop, the car's engine shuts down as a gas-saving feature. This is not the problem! the problem is that sometimes when this feature engages, when I lift my foot off the brake to start driving again, a shrill constant ringing sound starts and the engine won't power back on. There is an error message that comes on that says "eyesight disabled. " when this happens, none of these factors (the ringing, the error message, the dead engine) stop until I put the car in park and power it down completely, then restart the engine. Then none of the symptoms are there anymore and the car drives normally. I have not noticed any consistency about when this problem does or does not happen - it occurs in all weather types, temperatures, times of day, slopes/flat roads. I sometimes go months without it happening, and other times it happens twice in several days. The only consistent thing is that it only happens when the car is at a full stop and the engine has shuddered off to save gas. I live in chicago and almost exclusively drive short distances in the city, I hardly do any highway driving. This has happened maybe 20 times since I bought the car in February, 2023.

52 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

Since purchasing my vehicle in June of 2020, I have replaced the windshield every 6-7 months for spontaneously cracking. In April of 2023 I filed a claim with Subaru of America and was instructed to make an insurance claim and my deductible would be reimbursed. As of December 1, 2023 my windshield has cracked yet again. I have had a windshield inspection done every time it has been replace, no defects or rock chips were identified. This will be the 6th windshield I have had replaced.

53 Wiper problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/29/2023

Just replaced my winshield for my 2023 suburu, first off safelite uses after market, also I haven't had the car for more than 3 months, the next day the winshield was hit with another pebble causing another crack. Like what the hell is the matter with these winshields and what is suburu go8ng to do about it. I'm missing work, and losing money here, not only that it's very dangerous to drive with these winshields.

54 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/29/2023

Windshield spontaneously cracked from the base into the wiper area. There was no previously known damage. This impacts driver visibility and weakens the windshield. I have not had the windshield inspected by another party and did not observe any warnings. I have since learned online that this is an ongoing issue with some Subaru windshields.

55 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/25/2023

Barely pushed on inside of windshield with foot and it cracked in a million directions.

56 Wiper problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/20/2023

Small pebble hit winshield and in no time I have about a 3 inch crack. Car purchased a few months ago, used I have about 4000 miles on it. Read about winshield problems in newer cars with eyesight happening frequently and bam, it happens to me. This needs to be corrected!.

57 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/14/2023

Woke up to a large cracked windshield for no reason.

58 Wiper problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 10/13/2023

I was at an event for about 3 hours and was parked next to a trailer. When I started driving there was a crack in the lower right hand of my windshield. The event was private and the trailer was not used. I am unsure where this crack came from and am very confused.

59 Wiper problem of the 2022 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 10/11/2023

I believe the glass used for the front windshield in my 2022 Subaru Forester is structurally defective. I have experienced 3 chips in different areas of the windshield while driving at different times over the past 2 months. The most recent was October 11,2023. There were no loud impact sounds or obvious rocks strikes that impacted my windshield for each occurrence. I did hear a very faint noise when the latest chip appeared. It is my concern that if an object were to hit the type of glass used for this windshield while on the freeway it could shatter and cause harm to me and impair by ability to operate my Forester. I have read online of many problems with Subaru windshield glass occurring over many years and models. I believe this problem needs to be corrected most likely by changing the type of glass used. I reported this to a Subaru dealer. There were no warnings or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

While driving the drivers side rear window imploded sending thousands of shards of glass into the vehicle.

61 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

63 Wiper problem of the 2023 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/18/2023

I believe Subaru still has issues I've found when researching them before I bought my vehicle, about weak windshields. I purchased a new 2023 Subaru Forester wilderness just a little over a week ago. I was driving to the dealership to drop off some papers, leaving plenty of room around me, and something small hit my windshield because I didn't see any object. My guess is a small pebble off from somewhere off the road? instant chip that formed the start of a spiderweb crack. I've been driving for 28 years in multiple vehicles and have had small pebbles hit my windshield. I've had glass replacement twice, ever. I feel like my old 2010 Ford focus could have taken that hit. I understand the complaints by other consumers and feel these windshields are fragile and unsafe. I had less than 400 miles on my car at the time of impact and was traveling 65 mph with plenty of distance around me. My windshield is scheduled to be replaced with sensor recalibration with just a little over a week of ownership. This is unacceptable.

64 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/08/2023

As I was getting into my vehicle with my family, we heard a loud noise come from the front of the vehicle ( windshield are). We immediately noticed the windshield had cracked and it had started right underneath the driver area and was going up the middle and turned to passenger side of the windshield. All of this occurred while vehicle was parked. Have been reading this has been an ongoing issue with Subaru.

65 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

Was driving at highway speeds (65 mph) and within the posted speed limit and a small, unidentifiably small object was kicked up by a car in the adjacent lane and hit the windshield, resulting in a small ding that immediately spread to a large crack across most of the windshield.

66 Wiper problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 08/21/2023

A small crack appeared mysteriously on the front windshield and has spread - over the past month - where it now covers 1/2 of the windshield. Nothing hit my car, to create the crack or make it spread. The right air bag light keeps going on and keeps beeping when there is no one sitting in the seat. The only way I can get it to stop is to engage the seat belt - again, even though there is no one in the seat.

67 Wiper problem of the 2021 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

I have ~50,000 miles and have had an excessive amount of chips on my front windshield. Getting them filled doesn't matter, and the windshield will crack. I've replaced the windshield twice since owning this vehicle at $1200+ (high costs due to front camera recalibration). I've owned many vehicles over the years and have never had a windshield chip or crack this frequent. I've seen many other complaints online, did Subaru cheap out on glass or is the wind shield angle ineffective in shedding simple road debris from causing failures? I have concerns that the windshield would be unable to stop larger debris from entering the cabin and potentially injuring occupants.

68 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 07/25/2023

For the 3rd time in less than 3 years my windshield crack from a small pebble hitting it. Either Subaru is making very thin windshield glass, or the material used is not sufficient to suppress small pebbles and causes the windshield to crack, often. The latest crack happened July 25, 2023 in the pm with a small 1/4 inch crack, by morning it had grown to over 2 feet. It seems to me there is a design flaw here.

69 Wiper problem of the 2022 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 07/22/2023

Windshield has random cracks and scratches everywhere and I only have 18000 miles.

70 Wiper problem of the 2020 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 07/21/2023

The windshield suddenly crack for no apparent reason. I inquire about this problem from the Subaru service department and I was told that its not covered by warranty. I found out from my own research that a lot of Forester owner have complain of the same issue.
