Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the contact attempted to apply the brakes and the pedal depressed to the floor board. The contact stated that the brake light had illuminated and upon inspection, brake fluid began leaking from the vehicle. Prior to experiencing the failure, the contact took the vehicle to a dealer(dealer unknown) to be serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 14v311000(service brakes, hydraulic). The dealer was not notified about the second failure. The contact spoke with the manufacturer about the failure and was offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. Jo.
The left front brake hose rusted out. This was on the metal piece at the end of the hose. It was leaking fluid at a high rate. Before I knew this was the issue, the emergency brake like came on, so I filled up my fluid and the light went off. I was able to drive about 100 miles (likely less) before the light came on again. That is when I had it checked. The mechanics at okemos marathon in okemos, michigan discovered the issue. They said it was highly unusual for this to happen at this low mileage. I paid $152. 39 for the service and replacement of this part, which was only available from the dealer because of the unusual nature of the issue.
